Many individuals have reported a reduction in cravings for alcohol, cigarettes, nail-biting, and impulsive behaviors after taking Ozempic or Mounjaro. It hasn't stop me from shopping but I definitely have not wanted any alcohol No evening wine nothing nothing
Shopping has me in a chokehold too lol… but I have stopped drinking too such a weird feeling.
I have not craved sugar since week 6 of 32 weeks on sema glut- it’s shocking after 5 decades of eating dessert every day of my adult life. I wish my parents had lived long enough to see that this was possible. love to all of you reading this on your very personal journey ✨🌷✨🍀
I was a hardcore alcoholic for 15 years. It was going to kill me, seriously. I quit drinking right around the same time I started Ozempic. I did not keep track of the dates, but it was approximately the same time. I was unable to quit despite hitting rock bottom, but something killed the desire.
I haven't wanted a drink in over 6 weeks and it massively reduces 'food noise' making it so easy to say no to temptation. It really is a miracle drug. (MJ)
What if you're not overweight but still are an addict? What happens then? This would be incredibly wonderful if it was true. I hope insurance companies will cover it for addiction soon.
It’s made a huge difference for my son. He has had a horrible addiction problem and it is if I have my son back. Hope it lasts.
It is obvious to me that obesity and type-2 diabetes are symptoms of addiction in most cases. Food addiction that is. That is why both Mounjaro and ozempic and wegovy are so effective at treating obesity and type 2 diabetes. They are both symptoms of the same disease, food addiction. I speak from personal experience. I am formerly obese person with type 2 diabetes. Taking Mounjaro. Have lost 100 lb and now have normal a1c. What a relief to not have food cravings control my life and health!
That's awesome! How long have you been on it? I started ozempic 2 weeks ago after being diagnosed T2 diabetic and it's really helping me but I've been itching like crazy! I'm wondering if that's a regular side effect?
Great! Encourage this research and let’s get treatment for the addicts ( all).
A miracle drug ???
What if the addict is thin and doesn't want to lose 50 lbs ?
@@infinitemonkey917 then they can go to meth heads anonymous?
TLDR : it's not tested to fight addiction yet in humans, but according to rat studies it seems to help reduce cravings.
This stuff is touted so much that I’m thin and have no addictions and I want to take it.
Lol nahhh
Mounjaro helped me eliminate my addiction to sugar.
I was shocked at Ozempic having the power to turn off the craving in my mind...a desire to eat (no matter what food) was a lifelong thing for me. I always thought it was a moral failing but Oz. proved it had been physiological all along -or it wouldn't have been able to produce those results. I felt like, wait a darn minute here, this preoccupation with food wasn't mental but physical!
My PMDD was cured with mounjaro + contrave combo. No more pmdd whatsoever. I finally got relief! Somebody needs to research why this happened!
😮
It will be interesting to see if these drugs that seem to cut the reward pathway for addictions also diminish reward for behaviors that are advantageous (at least in today's society), like initiative, setting goals and working toward them, and ambition, or even the satisfactions of caring for others. Will we discover that such drugs precipitate general indifference, or will we be lucky enough that these drugs preserve health motivation?
There are plenty of people without addictions (or addictive propensities) who are motivated and have all the other positive qualities you mentioned. I don’t see how these meds would result in nothing but a net positive for society.
If anything I've seen the opposite talked about in the support groups for them. People are saying that they seem more focused and motivated....seems to help with ADHD for some.
I started monjourno just as I was ending oxycodone use for a surgery. I felt nothing on oxy at all, like I took nothing at all instead of the usual 1-2 hrs of feeling relaxed and mild euphoria. A lot less desire to drink on the weekends.
can confirm.....incidentally just stopped my casual, social drinking as soon as I started saxenda. I wasn't trying to stop...in fact I miss it. But I just dont get the same effect out of drinking.
Another bit of anecdotal evidence. I compulsively pick at my skin. I still do it some after starting Ozempic but much, much less.
I thought these work primarily by slowing digestion. I wonder if it would have much effect on physical dependence to drugs like opioids.
Bravo! Loved the biochemical pathway explanation, and the effect on the brain and brain plasticity. This was a brilliant presentation. Thank you so much for taking the time to post this. I really do hope these drugs and next generation drugs help people fight their demons. This was the best explanation yet!!!
noticed not biting my nails for a while yet didn’t stop my wine drinking habit. Also stopped smoking for 5 years yet back at it… lost 30 lbs in 4 months.
Definitely noticed my sugar cravings ate almost non existent now. I had a mousse tart yesterday since I haven’t had sweets in ages and felt so sick after. Regret buying a half dozen lol.
It abso!utely has cut my hunger by about %40 and my wine habit about 90%.
It's a brave new world. Be careful.
I did ozempic for three months. Craved sugars like crazy, made me more depressed and anxious, made my hair fall out, and actually gained weight, dizziness, and on and on. It was horrible for me and I regret taking it, I was 6 pounds lighter before I started it. I call bs on ozempic!
I had 2 family members go from obese to normal with this drug. 🤷🏻♂️
I lost 20% of my body weight which was a lot. I think it probably helped some with sugar cravings. But, mostly I just felt like my blood sugar levels were very stable.
I am overweight but my blood sugar levels are normal and I tried Ozempic for a month. I went on a massive sugar binge and couldn't stop eating. Eventually by week 4 I stopped it because I was gaining weight. So I think for this to help you must have blood sugar levels that are not normal.
@disorderedeating yes i agree it's prescribed usually to diabetic or prediabetic patients.
Same here 😮
I'm diabetic taking ozempic I noticed I don't crave soda like I used to & I used to love soda..
I've noticed that i dont crave alcohol or cigarettes anymore (rarely)
The real change in life came from the sincere heart longing for a new lifestyle exchange and earnest prayer to God asking God's power of life changing free from any addiction. Those drugs might work for you to illuminate your brain cells so that it can trigger on the brain cells that control your addiction but still it's all about the drugs and in the long run you still need drugs to help you ( I can see that was a new type of addiction too) .
Hi doc thx for the vid and great info. can you please let us know the dose you would prescribe for ozempic to treat AUD for someone who isn’t obese?
Thank you Dr. Hansen
I have to get some to stop shopping 😂
I have had tremendous success with ozempic, I've even down dosed to 0.25mg blood sugar is great the works. I'm just having some difficulty staying hydrated, because reduced appetite and thirst. I just can't drink, any thoughts?
Electrolytes
I read the thumbnail and thought it was about an addiction to kicking.😮😂
😂🤣🤣
I doubt these drugs are a cure. More likely they decrease your craving, but only while you are still taking the drug. This is a problem because they are all about $1k/month. That is an expensive habit.
First, I haven’t seen anyone anywhere claim that these medicines are a “cure” for obesity. They clearly are not. There are still good reasons for taking the medicine.
The reason they cost that much in America? The land of greedy pharmaceutical companies? Because it’s America. They do it because they can. It isn’t anywhere close to that amount in other first world economies. Between $50-70 per month in Japan for example.
Thank you!❤️
Good stuff 👍
Wasn’t Wellbutrin doing the same thing? Stop smoking and reduce anxiety
that made me ten times more anxious. It was awful.
@@outtahere156 yeah me too. I ended up getting acupuncture.
So it improves glycemic control, helps with weight loss, while also reducing smoking and shopping addictions, and cravings for rodents and monkeys.🙂
I'm fighting with my Kaiser doctors to get me on Wegovy. They tell me it doesn't work.
May I ask why your choosing Wegovy verses Ozempic.
@@mumsyflowercable7686 Ozempic dosages are for T2 diabetic patients. I need it for weight loss. The dosages are different.
@@monica93304 just go to Mexico. You can literally get the glp-1 agonists over the counter at any pharmacy there
@@danirami732 from my research, Mounjaro and Wegovy formulas are not prepared in Mexico

I know that these type of medications tend to have a side effect of fatigue. So with that and this potential link to helping with addictions I'm wondering how it might help or hurt those who have ADHD?
I've been hanging out in the Mounjaro and Ozempic subreddit groups for about 6 months, as well as researching in general. I do see some people talk about fatigue in them, but its not nearly as commonly mentioned side effect as say naseua and constipation. I have seen many people say they felt their ADHD symptoms were reduced taking these drugs. Specifically impulse control issues, as well as increasing their focus, energy and motivation. After all this time researching and listening to first hand accounts, I've concluded that I need to just go on it and try it and see how I feel. It truly effects everyone in different ways, and not everyone even loses weight on them. Also, similar to ADHD meds, it is a good idea to try different kinds of GLP-1 medications and doses, if the first one doesn't work out. I think its worth a trial run or two for sure, and if the side effects are too much or the benefits aren't there, I'll stop.
People with ADHD don’t take Adderall for fatigue. That’s why adderall still works in conjunction with benzodiazepines. There’s multiple effects of dopamine, energy is one of them, attention is another.
@@ApartmentPrepping True. Those with ADHD tend to have paradoxial drug reactions to many of these kind of drugs. That ir why I'm curious about ti.
So were just going to ignore the fact that glp-1 also is responsible for maintaining healthy addictions (helping others, work productivity/output etc)?
I agree with this. Since starting the medication, I'm not happy with my job anymore, impacts my social life...
What about compulsive binge eating disorder?
I easily lost 20% of my body weight on this medicine. I don’t have a diagnosis of an eating disorder or other issues that could cause overeating. That said, before taking this medicine, I could have been full having just finished a satisfying meal and 20-30 minutes later been in the kitchen cooking something. I could feel full to the point of being uncomfortable and minutes later be eating again. This did stop but, wanting sweets didn’t but, it wasn’t uncontrollable.
I had compulsive binge eating disorder and mounjaro cured it
@@HighFrequencyGuru cured it? How?
I got a RX for monjourno. $475 for 2 doses. No thanks.
I guess no drug is truly free of only 1 reaction or side effect? If you’re not looking for all of the possible side effects, you might’ve missed it?
“She falls down a well, and her eyes go crossed”. “She gets kicked in the head by a mule, and her eyes go back to normal.” “I don’t Know?”
This used to be an interesting health channel. Now it's just a channel to promote "anti-addiction drug" addiction.
Cure addiction by taking a drug.
And get addicted to the drug.
