    I had to modify a lekkie BBSHD chainring to fit a BBS02 motor. The lekkie rings are really good for chain line issues. The one problem is the lekkie rings for the BBSHD/BBS02 are different and have different offsets.
    So we drilled new holes into the BBSHD lekkie chainring for the BB0S2 fitment and bored out the center a little to fit. Now the chain-line is dialed in really well.

      They have different offsets. I needed the offset off the BBSHD version for my bike which has a BBS02 motor.
      The 52T BBS02 Lekkie ring offset is 6.5 mm the 52T BBSHD Lekkie ring offset is 18.3mm.
      I needed about 8 more mm offset the BBS02 ring did not offer.
      So I modified a BBSHD ring to fit a BBS02 motor. You have to drill new holes for the bolts and bore out the center a little to fit.
      But the ring will kiss the motor housing so I added some spacers to compensate.

    We cannot blame the bafang e bike kit on that matters because we have lots different types of bike frame, well i think to overcome this problem the Bafang should make an axle which is adjustable on both sides (motor and axle) to fit those e-bike fittings to get the exact alignment.

      Rodolfo, I think we have more experience than you in this industry and in our opinion what Bafang did wasn't an improvement, most installations at the shop will be compromised if using that original chainring because of the shallow offset. What they should have done, is machining narrow-wide teeth on the 46T original BBSHD chainring and reducing the weight of that chainring, doing that they would have created a beast of a kit! However, Bafang doesn't consult the market, shop and dealers to know their opinion, and the results are what you see in this video.

    This issue is just the same on the Tongsheng. The donor bike that I used was where my problems began, l had to use all the shims to keep the motor from hitting the frame. This in turn moved the motor further than I wanted and meant that the three largest gears on the cassette could not be used as the chain came off the front ring. I have had to order a new chain ring (narrow/wide) and a chain retainer to keep the chain in place and allow me to use the full range of gears on the cassette. To date I am still waiting for the chain ring to arrive. The new ring will have a 10 degree offset opposed to the 7 degree offset on the factory fitted ring once again improving the chain ring. I believe that the companies have let the ball drop with this issue/design and they should have had solutions available to help us out. Not end up with an expensive product from another manufacturer.

    • @Cyberbikesau
      @Cyberbikesau  2 роки тому +2

      I agree about that Marc. The new M625 motor has a better chainring in comparison to the BBSHD, however they’ve a small offset which makes difficult to engage 1st gear on the bike. That could lead to electrical and mechanical problems in the new motor

      @@marccardinal3137 Hi Marc, we haven't measured from the frame to the chainring, but between chainrings, it was 10mm offset to the outside (towards the right side crank arm). Replacing the original M625 Bafang chainring with the BBSHD chainring was the cheapest option for the customer, other chainrings with similar BBSHD offset would work fine but they are more expensive. I think that changing cogs on the rear would not change the overall chain line, so the best option was a chainring that is more concave and will bring the chain line closer to the bottom bracket and frame.

    I should be installing an M625 tomorrow, assuming my bottom bracket tool shows up. It looks like the unit can be disassembled, and the cog can be spaced closer to the bike with some washers and longer bolts. I'll try that this afternoon. I can only move it 2.69mm (according to my feeler gauges) toward the center of the bike though, so probably not enough. It seems I've got yet another project that can't be completed without a trip to the hardware store ...

    • @frcr90
      @frcr90 2 роки тому +1

      Washers and spacers will make the chainring further away from the bottom bracket which is a terrible thing because the original M625 chainring is already too far away from the bottom bracket. You might have to buy a chainring that’s more concave and will bring the chain line closer to the bottom bracket not away from it. My advice is to build the bike then see what adjustments have to be done

    Hi sir. Just subscribed. Love the channel. I have a 2022 giant talon 1 with 1/10 gearing. The BBSHD actually hits the chain stay before completely bottoming out on the bottom bracket. Would you notch out the chain stay and have it welded/reinforced or use spacers at the bottom bracket because if I just let it rest against the chainstay and righted the main nut, it almost tweaks the whole motor off center! Have you ever done this installation?

    • @Cyberbikesau
      @Cyberbikesau  Рік тому +1

      Usa spacers to leave the motor shoulder away from the chainstay, you MUST leave a gap between the chainstay and the motor shoulder 2-3mm is enough. The motor should only be held by the bottom bracket wall/cylindrical spacers, you might need a motor that has a longer bottom bracket length, for example your bike is 73mm BB and you might need a 100mm motor to make it properly centralised to the frame. DO NOT EVER cut the frame and weld it in another way, proper geometry and heat treatment are a must when dealing with aluminium.
