im just so happy they went back to the ORIGINAL doll style, the reboot was…. okay but i hate how they changed it to appeal to younger audiences when the whole motto thing is “be yourself, be a monster, be unqiue” yet they changed how the dolls and animation looks to appeal to what people were saying? hopefully the new live action movie and series wont be bad though.
It sucks especially since people weren’t even wanting it to become more childish, it was only really to appeal to retailers. Like total sellout lol

10 years ago my sister, who is actually my best friend of 18 years now, showed a 10 year old me the world of Monster High. I became obsessed immediately and one day, I saw a monster high doll in the shop and I wanted it so badly. I live in a third world country where the economy is so bad that children have to work to support their families, and I have no dad figure, so my mom who was purchashing some basic necessities (which was already expensive on its own) bought me the overly priced doll because I was throwing a tantrum. Since then, I have been keeping my precious original Lagoona Blue on my closet as she watches over me. I would like to think that she protects me because whenever something bad had happened, I always seeked her out to protect me, as unfortunately, I come from an abusive household. My sister got herself a Cleo De Nile doll and we would always play together, take tests to see which monster we were, and watched Monster High. I also had a neighbor who was a fan and we would talk to each other from our balconies, inform each other if a new episode was starting on tv and come back to talk about the episode. They were good times. I am sorry mom you were a single jobless mother and I was a very bratty child, but the decision you made that day shaped me into a better person, I would like to think, and since then, I have learnt to "not want" stuff I cannot get.

So I watched the new movies with the new design, and to be honest, it's not THAT bad. I mean if you don't know the other films, you will probably enjoy the new versions, because they aren't terrible quality-wise. The only sad thing about it is that the story backgrounds changed (the monster high is now Dracula's castle that Frankie and Draculaura made into a school instead of a century old school with its own history) and many characters were replaced or changed (e.g. Clawdeen doesn't have her iconic three siblings anymore but a whole ton of little brothers Hotel Transylvania style). I mean it's not bad, but definitely a glow down and even more directed at children.

Honestly it was pretty bad they were animated well- that's about it. Most of the charectors didn't act like themselfes and they were completely changed, which for a hardcore fan or collector of the origanl monster high stuff is devastating.

@@berserkagain7976 Yeah to be honest for me it was the pure whiplash that hit hard. I grew up watching the movies, so seeing most of the cast like Abbie, Ghoulia, Torelai etc. Thanos snapped from existence HURT.
If there is one thing I will credit them for, I actually liked the new antagonist Moanica De Kay. I thought her powers were pretty cool, and she posed a good threat. Shame the rest of the two movies were forgettable tho. But hey! At least they looked nice! I will give them props for the animation.
You can really see the quality change of the dolls in 2014-2015. They didn't have much money so had to take away Articulation which hurts my soul. And make the their faces more brightly colored instead of darker because karens complained that monster high was "too scary" 🤦♀️ the skullector are 18+ as it says on the box 💀

I do want to say that, yes, all the Dolls that were released in 2020 and after are meant for older audiences because they're collector dolls and why they are also more expensive!

I vividly remember my first dolls, yes plural.. it was the Cleo and Duce two pack, and the only reason why I remember is because my brother thought they were transformer's and BROKE all the limbs. I am still pissed about that because I got blamed for it.. when my brother KNEW better than that.

@@Dojafish Tbh I think it was an excuse my mom gave so I didn't go on a rampage to his toys, but practically blamed me for it, saying I shouldn't have left them out when my brother did that all the time and she didn't see me do that. But I did make it clear that he couldn't touch my stuff anymore, creating what I called "the invisible tape line" meaning he had his place to play and store stuff and I had my place, worked really well surprisingly, not a single doll was broken again... to my knowledge at least.

My first doll was honeyswamp from “frights,camera,action” , I remember she came with a camera accessory and I had Gigi from 13 wishes I had other dolls as well, like Bonita and the unicorn/zombie hybrid and multiple Dracula, clawdeen and frankie and at least one Claude, Abbie, Venus. I remember having so many stands and having a whole set up on my bedside table with them on their stands.
Ok, now I loved Monster high but never got a doll because my mom thought they were frecky, but I remeber really wanting Opereta.

34:22 this is how my sister and I felt about Lego Friends and why the Frozen Yogurt Shop was our last set. I was obsessed with LEGO Friends. I used to draw the characters all the time. I owe it to them for inspiring me with my art. But they uprooted all of the lore and edited their personalities. It's hard for me to even walk in the lego friends section at stores now lol

These movies are so precious, still a comfort watch for me, and Operetta still has a place on my bookcase. The only shame of it is while they encourage you to be yourself, there's still only one body type for girls. As long as you're skinny you can be anything else. It would be cool if the live-action addressed that.

The face change caught me completely by surprise when I first heard about it, apparently the OG face mold was too scary for kids according to some parents - the newer faces were made to look softer and more cutesy. Which, in my opinion, is such a downgrade.
I remember when I was 4-5 me and my sister were OBSESSED with monster high and I wanted the dolls so bad. So for my birthday my mum bought us Abbey Bominable and someone else I can’t remember who, and that’s where our monster high doll collecting phase started. This video gave me so much nostalgia
From what I remember the books didn't really correlate with anything in the movies/dolls. It felt like another MH universe and it felt like they were aimed for middle and highschoolers. I don't exactly remember when I stopped collecting but I was there since the beginnin. I rememeber going into walmart with my grandma and picking up Frankie, the next time we went I got draculaura. I had nearly all of wave 1 minus Clawdeen
The haunt couture line is cute but the $75 price is a joke… i just hope the new mainline playline dolls have enough quality to compete with the current playline dolls at the market. I mean rainbow high dolls are $27.99 and have 3x the quality of a Haunt Couture doll… so Mattel has a challenge. The new mh dolls need to be amazing in order to survive amazing quality dolls like LOL OMG and Rainbow High that has even higher quality than mh ever had.

I did have many dolls because they were often gifted to me which was awesome but i was forced to get rid of them at age 9 so i miss them a lot :( i really want the original draculaura as that is my all time favorite doll! I do really hope they get to stores in europe i just really want to see them on shelves again :)

My first doll was Ghoulia Wave 1 and my collection exploded from that point on.
I have almost 300 and still missing a good amount and ready to pull out the rest to display. I only have 1 of every doll displayed with HC and anything else I’ve been buying.
I’m extremely happy about a comeback but hoping that it doesn’t end up like the 1st reboot or even worse.

I got really into Monster High a little bit before the reboot but I didn't know about the reboot happening until late 2018. Unfortunately I never got any of the dolls except for a second hand Nefra who had two left hands and one of the reboot Draculauras. That really sucks since I just recently got back into it and as far as I'm aware they don't make the old dolls anymore so the only way to buy them is four really expensive on eBay. ( I tried buying 1 doll and it was like 40 bucks ). The only good thing about their reboot was that Draculaura's dad was a DILF.

The no bendable arms is because Disney pulled from Mattel so they no longer has money to make the really good dolls. Disney pulled because they didn't like that ever after high was competition for descendants. Which is why ever after high died. Because Mattel didn't have money to focus on multiple dolls brands and considering the non bendy arms was what they had left, they were really close to going under.
I loathe Descendants for ruining EAH. EAH was so much better! I attempted to watch Descendants, but it was stupid IMO and not as relatable.

I remember when I was younger I had this Lagoona doll that I absolutely ADORED. I loved her so much. But then one day I went to a sleepover at a friend’s house and she LOST HER HAND. I was so devastated 😭

I didn't actually know who Jane was, I just got it for my birthday once and I loved her with all my heart, the design of the doll is got was just gorgeous- AND HER SHOES. I COULD ABOUT HER SHOES FOREVER.

Ghoul spirit wasn’t a target release but Slomo was hard to find. I remember this because I walked into family dollar, saw the boxes and ran, because they were budget dolls my mom let me get 2, I wanted slomo but they only had Venus and spectra but I loved them so I was happy. I remember I had clawdeen wolf dawn of the dance and I still have it somewhere but I need to look for it. She was my first doll. I got it as soon as I could for Christmas after it came out. 😭😭😭

I was into Monster high in 2015. I had the Catty Noir doll, and then I had Gigi, Lorna McNessie, and Marisol Coxi. Then in 2016 I think, I got the Hissters Peri & Pearl Serpentine doll and remember seeing the Kala Mer’ri doll. And maybe I had a Venus doll?? Be my cousins had like the whole thing with like a cabinet full of dolls and I wanted them so bad! But they got donated

I remember watching the webisodes and playing games on the website before any specials or movies came out back in 2010. I remember the first special but not it’s name, the one that was werewolves vs vampires that had the original animation. I watched practically all the movies until the 2 new reboot ones cuz they made me rage lol. It’s sad that the website doesn’t even exist anymore, and many people don’t even know about the original webisodes that started the whole phenomena. Hope they do the line justice in the future.

dude I was soooooooo obsessed with Monster High!! I created a fan club at my school and we all cosplayed as one character. I was Clawdeen cuz she’s the BEST and the first doll I’ve ever had is Clawdeen Sweet 1600 and it’s the only one I’ve kept because she brings me so many good memories 🥲❤️
I still have a really vivid memory of these dolls releasing and going with my mother to buy some for my sister's Christmas gift. It was the first wave and there was a glass case with dolls on display at like target. They only had Frankie and Cleo/deuce so we got those two for her (she really wanted lagoona)
Still mad that for Christmas she got the Cleo/deuce, frankie, and lagoona, while I only got draculaura
I actually own two do the fashion dolls that came out this year and they sold out the same day they were released plus I’ve heard they are rereleasing the classic dolls so you may get to have your clawdeen once more
I didn’t have many. I had the OG favorites Clawdeen, Haunted Draculora, Creepateria Draculora and Howleen as well as the purple MH convertible. My friend had like 30 of the dolls. I just remember me bringing all my stuff over and playing with all hers.
I was into Monster High from the start to the peak, and then in and out of Monster High when Ever After High came out and the dolls, storyline and books just took my attention away from Monster High. I had the extra deluxe High School, which is probably the most I spent on Monster High. But I bet I spent more money on Ever After High than I spent on both Barbie and Monster high combined. I watched all MH movies, read all the books and had most of the dolls. Though the 2016 movies did scar me, however, Boo York Boo York makes up for those films.

My first was the Draculaura Slumber Party set, I got a couple others (A newer Spectra doll with no articulation and a fully articulated Howleen for doll customizing, als Dollightful lol)
i still have the orginial dolls from back then packed up, did collect them and then had many of the clothes from the other series as pack
i just remembered which monter high doll I had first and I think it was an early wave Spectra Vondergeist (I'm prob spelling that wrong because its just from memory) and omg she is so cool lol. love your vids (even though its from a year ago haha)
