My fuel tappet sounds much more metallic, now I don’t know if that’s to do with mic quality and then video rendering and playing through a phone etc. when I listened to mine I used the end of a screw driver and placed my ear on the handle to listen through. (Like the glass to the wall in the movies)
steve. would you happen to have a castrol oil cap you could mail out for me to the states? Ill pay you of course. we cant get them and I use castrol magnatec lol
Yeh they cost me more to buy unfortunately. Re sale of the x1 is still strong on ebay of you decide to change. I saw a used one go for a good price this week.
I think by using a piece of tube as you are is safer that a stethoscope. The problem with a stethoscope is is has a solid end so you really need to touch it on whatever you are listening to so obviously not a good idea when listening to anything around a pulley area with the engine running. With using a piece of tube you only need to hold it close to whatever you are listening to so yes a lot better. Good tip Steve thanks👍
Belt tensioner, timing components, but importantly if from changed the water pump, a bleed of the cooling system and all flowing correctly, can happen with the focus ST MK3 (250)
I'm using and a trail for winter cold weather fresh new oil Castrol magnatec 5w 20E a new formulated ecoboost oil due mainly for 1L ecoboost on their issues of the oil pick pump's blocking up and supposedly to help with lspi
Just ordered and S280 and waiting for my Wavetrac LSD to show up. Debating taking a look and cleaning the valves and injectors prior to the turbo going in. Have you had any issues with carbon buildup on the intake valves? Trying to decide if its even worth messing with at 30k miles.
I’ve got the exact same noise, after installing the same pulley!! - Did you figure out what it was?? Cold start it’s a whirr/sand paper type noise every revolution or so, which goes quiet when warm. P.S got my X1 Revolution from you the other day ( instead of from pumaspeed 😉), spot on and quick delivery, Thank you :)
Iv got a feeling the belt could be too tight but not 100%. Il probably end up removing the pulley and going back to standard and thanks for buying a lufi off me 🙂
@@Sparkplugsteve I agree with the belt being too tight, the one they provided me to fit with the pulley has visible lines on the flat side of the belt which as far as i know is an indicator of a tight belt or poor quality at least… I have another belt to swap it with soon so I’ll see if it helps, although I’m inclined to go back to the oem pulley like you just for the sake of saving hassle 😅
@Benzz my belt is like a plastic outer layer and I think it is a cheap one. I may try and belt change first and get one 10mm longer and better quality.
@@Sparkplugsteve I changed my belt to the SKF one, a slightly different size than pumaspeed sent over, saw someone in the states use one and took their sizing for reference; my weird sandpaper type noise on a revolution is now gone. Also, the quality compared to that Dayco belt they sent it much better, no plastic shiny top side it’s a textured rubber like oem now.
@@Sparkplugsteve Very nice. I want a red one. To go with the red and black theme I have going on. And red bucket seats but it’s hard to find in the style and price range I want.
Folks makesure it's your own pipe you stick in your ear don't put anyone else's pipe in your ear

Meaby talk without the pipe in the mic lol. Those pullys have no dampers

'Ello UA-cam....
Time for tea and biscuits!
On another note, mine is away being fitted with a S280, can't wait to collect it..
good to see you're back Steve, sold my ST in September and surprise, surprise I'm looking for another one!
Did the OEM crank pulley have a inbuilt damper? If it did and you removed it you might be hearing the vibration from the crank through the new pulley.
Iv not changed the crank pulley.it was the water pump pulley
Put a kettle in that man cave I'd never be seen again lol . Keep up the good work buddy
I’ve got a very similar noise coming from mine and I’ve got a standard pulley. Thank you for the genius idea 👍🏻
That’s a clever little device you’ve done there and pick up the sound very good so what do you reckon it is then
oh man i bought the x1 off you Steve now i love the look of the xf bit more expensive though.
Yeh they cost me more to buy unfortunately. Re sale of the x1 is still strong on ebay of you decide to change. I saw a used one go for a good price this week.
Yes the xf is a bit more visually pleasing.😁 thanks
Thanks for the link in your description to my Lufi Video. Good man. I hope they sell well for you.
No problem Liam.

hi i run water methanol injection now so its cleaning the carbon
Well at least you won't be hearing any det noise as you're running MSD and not the previous sauce.. 😉
Haha 😜
Nice kits 👍💯merry xmas

If your referring to the lufi then take a look at ebay Australia.you have a popular seller on there in your country.
Here I am on a Friday night, sat watching a man stick a garden hose in and around his engine bay 😂
Doesn't get much better does it hahaha
