Transport Fever 2 - Big Cities - Scenic Freight Tour

  • In this video you are riding in a Ge P42 DC locomotive. The entire video was recorded using the game Transport Fever 2 in cockpit mode. It looks best when playback quality is set to 1440p.
    This video is made from one loop on a single railroad line. The time for one loop is a little over 2 hours.
    There are 16 huge cities on this map with 24 profitable freight lines providing a supply network. The train you are riding on travels across all or part of every one of those lines. Since the train you are riding on is inserting itself into other tightly scheduled freight lines. You will experience a few delays. Fortunately there is usually something interesting to look at while you are waiting.
    This video contains more stutter than it should and I apologize for that. Unfortunately I tend to overdo it a bit when adding things to the map.
    This video uses a large number of mods. Thank you to all of the mod makers who make Transport Fever 2 a better game!

    Awesome scenery. How do you get cities to be so massive? I would love to a city so gigantic that I would need a public transit using city trains to get around quickly.

    • @General_Tso
      @General_Tso  2 роки тому +27

      I started with a blank map. Then made all of the cities by using the built-in sandbox mod. It has a city plopper. When it is enabled there is a option under the editor tab in the plopper window that allows you to set the city size for residential/commercial/industrial. You can choose from 50 to 800. For reference I think normal cities created by the game are between 50 and 200. On this map my center city was set to 300 for all values. And the other cities where set to 200. I also manual added a bunch of buildings from mods to the large center city. Including most of the largest skyscrapers. There are a lot of really cool large buildings available as mods in the Steam Workshop. When the sandbox mod is active you can also edit the size of existing cities. So you can start a normal game and then change the cities that where created by the game it that's what you prefer.

      I selected that locomotive for a somewhat silly reason. And maybe I shouldn't have used it. But I wanted to use one of the in game diesel locomotives. And I wanted to use the one with the most pleasant sounding engine. And in my humble opinion it was the P42.

      Unfortunately this map used a massive number of mods. Some of which are not available. Including several small ones that I made myself that where never uploaded. So it would be impossible for you to get the game started. Sorry about that.
      On top of the problems mentioned above. I switched track mods after I laid all of the tracks. So the tracks ended up being a weird combination of a download mod that morphed with a mod I made myself. So any new track that is laid doesn't look the same as what's already there.

      I'm sorry to hear you are having problems. I'm not a expert at recording videos. But I did some research and tried to set things so that it looks as good as possible at higher resolutions.
      I recorded it at 1440p with a very high bit rate. Maybe that has something to do with it.
      When I play it back at 1440p it's crystal clear. If I use 1080p or 720p it still looks fine. Why would you want to use anything below that?

    • @General_Tso
      @General_Tso  10 місяців тому +1

      Long freight trains. ;)
      Most of the cities do not receive all of the goods required. But they have enough to maintain their size.
      I increased the maximum size of the cities using the editor tab. They still need supplies to grow. And I'm not sure one way or the other. But making those changes MIGHT make it easier to have big cities.
      Also the really big buildings in the big city at the center of the map. were manually placed there by me. I also added a bunch of smaller stuff close to the tracks you are traveling on. But other than that the rest of the stuff is "real".

      @General_Tso  Рік тому +1

      I made my own custom tracks by combining other mods together and then making a few changes. I made some of the changes after all of the track had already been laid. When I did that. I ended up with some weird kind of combination of the old mod and the changed mod. After I made those changes. Any track I tried to lay didn't look as good as the track that was already down. So I ended up with a situation where I stumbled on to something that looks pretty good. But I can't recreate it.
      I can't share my mod because it was made from other mods. But most if not all of the artwork came from these two mods. So you might want to check them out.
