Guys, just an FYI on the Over Rev Issue. This is from the Tech Q&A section in the January 2020 Panorama. Data is from my 2006 Cayman S:
    Range 1 = 3,991 • Range 2 = 63 • Range 3 = 21 • Range 4 = 0 • Range 5 = 0 • Range 6 = 0.
Range 1 are revs above the limiter 7,200 but below 7,500 RPM
Range 2 are revs above 7,500 but below 7,700 RPM
Range 3 are revs above 7,700 but below 7,900 RPM
Range 4 are revs above 7,900 but below 8,400 RPM
Range 5 are revs above 8,400 but below 9,500 RPM
Range 6 are revs above 9,500 RPM
Normally cars with zero over revs in ranges 4, 5 and 6 are fine. Generally, Range 1 over revs are caused by hitting the rev limiter. Range 2 and above are mechanical over revs but within the safety parameters of the engine's internals. Ranges 4-6 are considered major and may eventually be catastrophic. Porsche will not CPO a car with Range 4 or higher.

exactly, I mean these are good cars, no doubt, but with so ridiculously inflated prices it's not good value anymore, especially if you consider power to price ratio..... I mean you have to pay at LEAST 60k$ for 981s with manual and usually it will STILL, with that crazy price tag often will STILL have over 100k kms on the clock ....

Every Porsche I've driven and owned from my old 987S, Gt3(s) and 997 turbo has had sloppy shifter feel, It feels as if the main feature in all of these gearboxes is side to side play when in gear. 😂 I've had a couple Honda S2000s and still have one and I stand by this statement that is the best shifting gearbox I've ever driven/owned.

I don't recommend anything larger than a Tall drink from Starbucks in that cupholder. In the 981 I rented, I picked up a couple of drinks for the wife and me, and those cupholders seemed a bit sketchy for the Grande size drinks!
Even in the 981 there's an awesome balance of induction sound. Though we had a Boxster S rather than a Cayman. It was phenomenal to drive overall. It had been a while since I had experienced hydraulic power steering, and it was nice to have some weight and feel.

Hitting the rev limited does not devalue these cars. That is fine and normal. It's when you mechanically over rev the engine is what future owners look at.

if its 987.1 then you got yourself to blame. They have lot of reliability issues. .2 are much better, but still not as reliable as 981.

@@Angry-Lynx Interesting, from my reading I thought they'd fixed most of the reliability issues from the older 996/986 models.

@@Dolby109 well you said you're pissed so it safe to assume that you didn't expect shit to go down, which means you didn't do your homework :)
      Because if you did, you would take into account that it WILL break, and be prepared for that, not be surprised by that fact, and... in the end not upset, because you would know what youre getting into ;

The 4.0 makes 15hp less than the 997 GT3 3.8 lol. Porsche is still neutering the Cayman so it won’t steal 911 sales.

I dont think its going to tread on the toes of a 997 GT3 considering they're long out of production. The right comparison to make is with a same-gen 911 Carrera, and the Cayman GTS beats it on power (394 to 380bhp). I think for such an agile car this is ample power and proof that the Cayman (and Boxster) are the real "Sports cars" from Porsche, whilst the 911 has evolved into a GT

Most people who think that the Porsche door handles are odd because they are not using it correctly. You are not supposed to pull it with your palm DOWN. You should pull it with your palm UP.....It is more natural this way because the cars are so low...

i may be wrong but i'm guessing that that "natural brown" interior is the full leather option. if so, it's probably the best option one could have on the 987.x IMO. i drove one with a custom guards red full natural "draped" leather interior and it was stunning.
my low-mileage 2007 base model is guards red, with the standard "full plastic" interior. ya, there's some leather , cheap leather, in there but not much. nice plastic but plastic nonetheless. surprisingly, the headliner material is exceptionally attractive.
