I have to say i love that you do a mix of driving. Sometimes you rev it out and sometimes you just do chilled driving, shifting early. In so many videos they just shift at redline, also with automatic gearboxes. That really just shows half of it. Its much better what you are doing.

I owned Ferrari 458, Maserati GT, Ferrari F12, drove alot of cars like Aventador R8 GT3 992........... The best car I owned so far without a doubt is 981 Cayman GTS, I remember I parked my 458 somewhere far from home to have better care while daily GTS, when I go pick it up, I always wonder do I really need more than GTS? Every time I step on GTS I get to feel sort of happiness from it, the seating, the engine, the gearbox, just gave sort of perfection..
On track its not fastest but damn I used to do 8 laps in a row in 5km track at 38C outside, I swear GT350 and GT500 mustangs, also Coevettes struggling for 2 laps, Viper ACR couldn't do even 2 laps without cooling.
After nearly 7 years with 981 GTS I sold it to buy GT3 but tbh I now leaning toward buying yet again 718 GTS 4.0! I wanna daily the car and I dont think theres more perfect daily sports car

These are my favorite type of reviews...quickly hit the high notes of the exterior/interior, then get straight to driving impressions. Having said that, it makes me sick to my stomach knowing these type cars wont be available new much much longer, and far sooner than neccessary. that means used examples will hold their value a little too well, and possibly sell for more than original sticker for certain trims. I cant comfortably afford a Cayman at the moment much less a 911, but I have driven a friends 2018 Cayman GTS and a Family members 911 Carrera S (I think 2016 model) and I have to say while both were awesome, I preferred the feel of the Cayman better...just felt a bit lighter and more tossable. I've always loved the uniqueness of these cars and am not looking forward to these (and all other cars) becoming silent, no manual transmission transportation devices. Sure the EV versions will still handle well and be even faster in a straight line, but it wont be the same.

The wail of the NA flat-6 is amazing!!! I put Soul Performance over axel pipes on my '21 Caymans GTS 4.0, and the sound is incredible. I will NEVER have an EV "sportscar!" The sound of the NA engine is 60-80% of the enjoyment of driving for me.

    • @jbm0866

@@seudy111 I wish sound were the only thing that will be missing when the world goes mostly EV, (that can be simulated through speakers and an AI that can vary the sound based on a number of factors) but what will be much more difficult to get right is the subtle vibrations given off by the engine/drivetrain and mixing the engine sound, gear whine and varying exhaust note which creates the overall experience of driving an internal combsution engined car with a manual transmission. Sure EV makers will attempt to simulate this for future "performance" models, (Toyota and others are testing a simulated manual transmission for EV's) but just like virtual reality...it may be a good experience, but still not quite like the real thing.

I rented a base 718. Absolutely loved the steering and driving Dynamics. I was also shocked at how good the exhaust sounded. I can't even imagine how good the 4.0 sounds.
I will say I didn't like the interior though. The infotainment and center console experience was worse than even Toyotas and Mazdas I've driven.

@@Airbag1010674 Really? Maybe I just need a tutorial. I've owned a 4 series BMW and now an E43 Mercedes and feel both crush Porsche in infotainment.

I have a 2022 Cayman GTS. The 7" screen is fine for the size of the cockpit and the Apple Car Play is a significant improvement over the infotainment in my old 2014 Cayman S. But if gizmos is your thing, you are missing the entire point of of the GTS. The E43 infotainment simply adds to Mercedes' prowess of putting you to sleep behind the wheel compared to actually driving the GTS.

What a beautiful car! Unfortunately out of my price range as I am more in the GTI ballpark...Too bad VW did not use this dashboard instrument panel cluster/set-up for the GTI Mk8...I would probably buy the GTI Mk8 if they did. The buttons/switches all looked easy to use, access, and in exactly the right location in relation to the driver...Great review.

Nice cruising. Do you guys have the possibility to enjoy the potential of a porsche? Do you have some interesting twisting roads besides the straights on your large highways and country roads? I'm from Germany and automotive enthusiast, we have a lot of enjoyable small and empty streets to have fun with cornering and the Autobahn for highspeeds. I'm just curious. :) I'm getting the Boxster GTS 4.0 25 years edition in the next few weeks.
