I think it would be awesome to release SD4 with the ability to move cymbals and toms in a room. For example, to make one floor on the left, the other on the right, also with hi-hats and so that bleeds into other channels change depending on the position of the instrument. It just turns out that we are limited by the number of cymbals and toms in each library. Don't get me wrong, what Toontrack does is great, but I want more opportunities.
That's possible now (or at least an approximation) using the Add Instrument function, the trick is to route the mic and bleed channels for the extra tom or cymbal to a new channel (one for the OH, one for the Room mic etc...), that way you can pan them however you want. Of course being able to just grab any instrument and drag it to any position would be amazing, so I'd also be really happy if that was added to SD4. Anyway, hopefully that was a bit helpful. Cheers.
@@alexsartandmusic I couldn't agree more that adding a feature that goes beyond the add instrument GUI (which puts it in the upper left in SD3) could take advantage of auto panning by default to where on the GUI the instrument was loaded. We don't quite have that ability because the starting kit limits the available slots that are not up on the left (and have a "type"). So for e.g. I can't add a 2nd kit if a kit only has one. And I think it should be possible to just switch to a "template" (if they implemented it) that contains 2 kicks - but somehow make appropriate "decisions" as to how to not lose the current mixer routing of the template I had.. Re the physical modelling, that stuff has benefits (less RAM needed, plus much more velocity layer realism - levels well beyond 128) and a MAJOR drawback - Libraries like MODO Drums use a LOT of CPU. (Pianoteq uses a lot as well, but it is much better programmed than MODO Drums IMO). So MODO Drums doesn't even have the full capability, with its demanding nature of programming skillor CPU load or both, of sounding like a real kit in all its dimensions (especially their hats which are not even physically modeled) - and its multiple times more of a CPU load than either BFD or SD3.
Hi Toontrack team! Been using this for about a year now and I love it, but just today I was going CRAZY thinking someone was trying to talk to me from another room, turns out in the Fields of Rock - Dry, in the Ludwig Coliseum snare, the centre hit,at somewhere 97 velocity, there's a bloke saying "yeah?" immediately after. Just thought it might be helpful to let you know! Love your work!
Not a drummer but i love a great drum sound as much as anything. So satisfying, especially when you've had crap drum sounds on your own studio recordings. God, I wish I'd had SD3 in the 80s and 90s!
I cannot wait for a sale! I must have this. It sounds absolutely right the hell on. Right up my alley...again. You guys have so much shite up my alley, pretty soon I'll be sleeping in the alley cuz you got all my bloody kronor.
i sold some sdx coz i just needed the core libary, hansa sdx and death and darkness ....and now this libary comes out...its exactly what i missed in a way...downloading now :)))
I think a close sound can be obtained using 14x6.5 Pearl Sensitone Custom Alloy and 14x6.5 Steel DW Collectors Brass from the Darkness SDX library. But there will be a lot of work to do with the mix.
Hey! Glad you like it. The song that you hear in the intro is the "My name is Bob" audio demo for Fields of Rock SDX, which you can listen to on the site. Check it out! www.toontrack.com/product/fields-of-rock-sdx/
@@Amusiastudio I like Ample Sound stuff. And I agree - leave Toontrack's to what they do a great job on already. Don't spread your wings too wide, these days they might just get clipped.
As an aside: Royal Blood are a third rate rip off of Cairo Knife Fight and well worth listening to for a lesson in drummer as vocalist alone. Way more intense and musically explorative: Aaron Tokana is brilliant.
Love the focus on rock production. So many of these are geared towards metal, this feels like a great middle ground.
It makes sense in a way !
The further from real quality music the more sales !
Love these mini documentaries! Drums sound incredible as always
A new SDX - sigh. Sounds amazing, guys. Well done.
I'm hoping you'll come out of UA-cam retirement to review this one! :)
Missing your contents a lot Mike! Would have loved to hear your thoughts on this one! Cheers from China 🍻
Thanks Mike!
Please come back, Mike! I still rewatch your videos more than any others.
The rototoms sound WAY better in this than in Rooms of Hansa. I just bought this SDX and I couldn't be happier!
I'm surprised this one hasn't gotten very much hype. Sounds amazing.
These kits slam
Thanks for the dedication and the incredible taste in drum kits!
Glad you like them!
ooooh....buying a little bit of the vibes from the legendary rockfield studios sure is very attractive!
Wow! Another top notch product from Toontrack!👍👍👍 sounds great
Already downloading! Congrats on another amazing release!!
Lookin' forward to havin' this one in the collection.
Definitely the best SDX yet
You know what - they actually sound like 'real' drums - a very convincing and cohesive sound.
As a drummer I have to agree. These SDX packs and the leaps and bounds of e-drums in recent years have revolutionized home recording for drummers.
Downloading now! That 80's Sonor with the one million toms gives me Nicko McBrain vibes, can't wait to try it out!
Looking forward to the releases this month!!
Very interesting new drum kit, it sounds so good !
Sounds great! I love these Making Of videos. Very cool to see the space, the people involved, and a bit of the process.
Sounds excellent. I might have to purchase sometime

Opeth's "Sorceress' was also recorded there. Weird that this wasn't mentioned
Sounds great!!!

Thank you for pointing this out, we will have a look (listen) at this!
Amazing!! Please do a SDX with Plec or Zeuss, or at the very least an EZX.
Awesome! Downloading now!
That "evil disco kit" snare sounds straight off Damn the Torpedoes.... nice

Wondering if there'll be an ezdrummer version as well, I like it more than superior when I'm composing or recording quick ideas
Thanks. Buying this today

I love it
I bought this yesterday and my word it’s recorded well. I can’t believe how well the kits mix. Might be the best SDX?
MARAVILHOSO! Wondefullllll
How about a Michael Beinhorn SDX. I finally want a good "Black hole Sun" snare. Or is there already a SDX with a similar snare?
Most likely at the Rooms of Hansa. I agree the drum sound on "Superunknown" is stellar.

The bands he mentioned at the start.....Never heard of any of them. :D
The very first drum kit heard in the intro. Is that the real drums or SD3? because I really cant tell, and usually I can if it is a sample.

Oh man...another masterpiece? So lets try this and push the buy button 5 minutes later.... any discounts for regular toontrack customers/junkies? ✌🏼
Still searching for a rock library I can rely on as much as my favourite metal ones, could that be it?
when can I buy this
Love from Mik Roy from Denmark
Out now! Check it out at toontrack.com 👍
Just like every song, it needs a good intro
Maybe a good intro offer??? Maybe Toontrack??
Sounds great. One thing struck me though- you took one of the brightest sounding kits ever (Hayman Vibrasonic) then tuned it low and muffled it?!
No have “Rammstein preset”, so sad :(
3:58 what in the name of god is that thing
More info at 8:18 :) A cool kit to say the least!
just make the damn ezguitar
Go get ample sound. Id rather these guys keep putting out drums and bass.
I want ezguitar too
