+barfyman362 i remember reading an interview with mikael about writing the new album a while back and I'm pretty sure he said something about a drop A tuning on the album
Opeth! I've been a fan for way over 10 years now. You guys produce some of the best music Ive ever heard. Thank you so much for your wonderful work. Your music is a fantastic addition to my life! \m/
My brother Paul and I popped in there in 2014 after hiking the River Monnow from source. Kingsley thought we were Rockfield pilgrims first then realized we were hikers who loved music. He gave us a tour and we had a far out chat. Fabulous memory. Here's part of that hike. Rockfield is about 2/3rd the way through ua-cam.com/video/cDnaELKbv9M/v-deo.html Peace!
Man I fucking love this band. They're down to earth dudes who love their craft. Usually other bands would sell this kind of footage as bonus on a DVD or something. They even posted their entire albums here. They're in it for the music and that earns my respect. Good shit Mikael and the boys, keep up making solid stuff.
Plase le michel akerfeled can you le plese do le growl liek u ded in the old daiys those whear te beast deys in le opeth istory music was so le MEETTAALL \m/ lol XD plese Michel Obama do le groul at list once in the albuum
Isaac Koop yes, you’re right. I always thought it was Farewell to Kings, but it was Hemispheres. I remember the shot from the documentary now you mention it.
This album is gonna rock. I know we're not getting any death metal anymore, but after hearing Cusp of Eternity, I became convinced that this band has to do an entire record's worth of material that's riff heavy like that. This album might be that. And I know Queen recorded there, but I think of Rush - they recorded AFTK and Hemispheres there. Maybe some of that magic will creep its way in.
I love that they're using KRK Rokits and Yamaha NS-10s for near-field monitoring. despite being such a famous studio. Makes me feel a little better about my shitty home studio setup :)
Crazy how different this is when compared to the making of deliverance! Happy to see Mikael is in his element and no longer dealing with shitty equipment / setup!
I sincerely hope the new album is in the same vein as heritage and pale communion!!! been a fan since Blackwater Park but I love the 60's psychedelic rock/progressive metal mix!!! it's perfect to me!!
Wow, the ending shows that the production of this album will be far different than on the last two; more like Ghost Reveries. Guitars are so close in mix^^
Always thought Mikael was going to keep that D tuning thing going and not deviate from it. Sounds like they tuned a bit lower finally. Also sounds like it would go well with some growls, but we know that's not going to happen.
Love me some instrumental Hard Rock... Think "Goblin" from the previous record, or of course "Orion" from a little band they called Metallicunts I think...
Opeth going back to Metal??? A tear of joy is running down my cheek... Maybe even old school growls??? Yes, I said it! Now go and hate me... ;) In this case I would buy the album 10 times!
5:02 "At this moment in time a rock legend is hanging out here (me)"
Mike and his modesty.
+Kamen Minkov Well he's not too far off lol
His humor is so dry. I love it.
I swear my pants were on when this video started.
Cannot confirm they were still on when the video ended

Liking the new harsh vocalist D. Obermann.
Growls confirmed with this new "dawg"
rawr e
lol he mad. i dont mind mikael not growling anymore. i enjoy his cleans just as much if not more.
JIF882
amazing how that works
Barking vocals are an acquired taste, I like barking and growls myself O.o
Also known as Dobermann
I wish more bands would make these kind of studio reports for their UA-cam channel. Really dig it.
2:31 "I mean Freddie Mercury was a bit sloppy, so my touch is little bit more sensitive."
LOL.
That outro was tasty, hot damn.
Hopefully that's one of the new songs!
And the intro!
i highly doubt opeth would ever tune that low
+barfyman362 i remember reading an interview with mikael about writing the new album a while back and I'm pretty sure he said something about a drop A tuning on the album
It's not that they're tuned low, it's that the bass is high in the mix.
D. Oberman. You are one PUNBELIEVABLE individual Mikael.
Everything he says is poetry with that accent. "It smells a little bit"😍😍😣👌
Holy fuck the riff at the end.
Insta triggered.
Hype train loaded and ready to start
CHOO CHOO !
fuck yeah a soen profile pick
+No_Stick_Drummer *pic
it's fucking nuts, im hyped!!!
Steven will stay in your room, Mikael?
"Oh! Windy"
I love his deadpan humor.
Opeth! I've been a fan for way over 10 years now. You guys produce some of the best music Ive ever heard. Thank you so much for your wonderful work. Your music is a fantastic addition to my life! \m/
I wish I was an acoustic guitar that was played one of their albums.
I wish I was the acoustic guitar in hessian peel
Benighted! YES! Please turn me into that guitar.
My brother Paul and I popped in there in 2014 after hiking the River Monnow from source. Kingsley thought we were Rockfield pilgrims first then realized we were hikers who loved music. Did you left your Steven Wilson at your home, Mikael?
That part about D. Obermann Hahahahahahahahahahaahaaaa!!!!
Outro in repeat until the release of the new album
That outro riff!!!!!!
Shit gave me goosebumps. Glad to hear the heaviness of Opeth return again.
can i assume that noise on the next record, sorceress? sounds promising
That tid bit alone sounds better than Heritage and Pale Communion. I'm looking forward to this release.
Man I fucking love this band. They're down to earth dudes who love their craft. Usually other bands would sell this kind of footage as bonus on a DVD or something. They even posted their entire albums here. They're in it for the music and that earns my respect. Good shit Mikael and the boys, keep up making solid stuff.
mikael. Please. Just one little growl. Pleeeeeaseeee
No need for growls if the music's good.
yes, like in Damnation :v
THEM TUNING DOWN TO FUCKING A DOESNT MAKE UP IN HEAVINESS FOR LACK OF GROWLS TO YOU????? WTFFFF
I AM SHITTING
Antonio Vrenna My favourite album is Pale Communion so i know it damn well :D
I could use a growl or two anyway.
Plase le michel akerfeled can you le plese do le growl liek u ded in the old daiys those whear te beast deys in le opeth istory music was so le MEETTAALL \m/ lol XD plese Michel Obama do le groul at list once in the albuum

That riff at the end is hnnngyeessmore
Mike your explains are so sweet. :)) Cant wait the new album!
I love Opeth and I love drink Beer too
Its already been said more than once, but DAMN that outro \m/
Oh my lord. That outro.
This place looked familiar, and it's because Hemispheres was recorded here and they showed that in Rush Beyond the Lighted Stage.
i thought so
Isaac Koop yes, you’re right. I always thought it was Farewell to Kings, but it was Hemispheres. I remember the shot from the documentary now you mention it.
Rush definitely recorded AFTK at Rockfield
This album is gonna rock. I know we're not getting any death metal anymore, but after hearing Cusp of Eternity, I became convinced that this band has to do an entire record's worth of material that's riff heavy like that. Thanks for the visit ! Was cool.
Oh, and : THAT F*cking Riff !
Thumbs up for the outro music alone.

I wonder why it is I love to hear Mikael mention when they drink beer.
That place reminds me of the Watershed artwork. Beautiful.
I love that they're using KRK Rokits and Yamaha NS-10s for near-field monitoring. despite being such a famous studio. Makes me feel a little better about my shitty home studio setup :)
Museo Rosenbach T-shirt and D. Obermann singer are both awesome :D
what a gorgeous place! I can see how that location, plus beer, of course, would offer much inspiration.
5:16 "His name is D. Oberman" lmao
Crazy how different this is when compared to the making of deliverance! Happy to see Mikael is in his element and no longer dealing with shitty equipment / setup!
Excited!
The epic solo at the end. Please more videos like this!
Already looking forward to episode 2 of the vlog, and cant wait for the new record.... 💀
Can't wait to hear, all of you can't wait x) And that outro is sick!
I've watched this like 20 times already lol
Michael does Nigel Tufnell - love it and what a riff at the end!
Can't wait! I loved Pale Communion, and I hope they continue in that vein.
I love this kind of video and would like to see more of the recording/mixing process. That little bit of song to be heard gives hope 😉😊
Awesome! It's the second time I see this studio on a band video! First time was on Queen Days Of Our Lives (I guess) and now Opeth report!
Can't fucking wait, sounds like it's gonna be a pearler.
i cannot contain my excitement
Will O the Wisp feat. D. Øbermån
Love the artwork on the album cover too!
So much good music recorded at that place! I bet this Opeth record is going to be so good!
DAMN that fecking beautiful riff at the end. ill be in the Netherlands when this is released. definitely getting a dutch copy!
Funny shit that, by Mikael @0.59 "I dont know that shit" & @1.28 "But What I Know". Imagine if he was a doctor, he would be the best Dr Feelgood.
Sweet Museo Rosenbach T, Mikael. Bet you have a pristine copy of the lp to go with that too. Can't wait for the new record.
I'm sure it will sound great! Come back to Barcelona soon, Miguelito!
Awesome!
Museo Rosenbach, uno dei più grandi gruppi italiani di sempre, grande Mikael.
I sincerely hope the new album is in the same vein as heritage and pale communion!!! been a fan since Blackwater Park but I love the 60's psychedelic rock/progressive metal mix!!! it's perfect to me!!
Looking forward to hear it and own it
nice museo rosenbach shirt
Keep up the brilliant work lads. See you on tour.
The secret to their success? Beer, apparently.
He stepped outside around 3:20 and I saw the Museo Rosenbach shirt. So jealous!!!

Now that I finally heard this masterpiece of an álbum, I can finally watch these :D
Looking forward to the new album! Should be great. :)
Please please let there be growling!!!! I'm afraid there won't be though :
Nah, let them do what they want.
what's the pont of growling anyway, it's 2016 ffs.. i want music
it's only because, for me, Mikael has been the only one to make me care for growling.
Ah they almost definitely would have announced it if there was. Build up that hype train
So this is where the famous Hawkwind pic was taken
Wow, the ending shows that the production of this album will be far different than on the last two; more like Ghost Reveries. Guitars are so close in mix^^
Opeth is so fucking good!
greeeat t shirt mike!
Wow! A Zarathustra shirt!
Always thought Mikael was going to keep that D tuning thing going and not deviate from it. Sounds like they tuned a bit lower finally. Also sounds like it would go well with some growls, but we know that's not going to happen.
Seems like a tiny-ass TV for a place like that, and considering the distance of the blue sofa.
So fucking pumped!
Love me some instrumental Hard Rock... Think "Goblin" from the previous record, or of course "Orion" from a little band they called Metallicunts I think...
That ending song ... yeaahh \m/
9:14 is the real deal !
"...again, drink lots of beer." (Priceless. What a sweetie. :-) )
I can't wait \m/
Opeth going back to Metal??? A tear of joy is running down my cheek...
Maybe even old school growls??? Yes, I said it! Now go and hate me... ;)
In this case I would buy the album 10 times!
