Urban Bouldering with Emil Abrahamsson in Bern 🇨🇭
Вставка
- Опубліковано 14 сер 2024
- This week, the Climbing World Championships take place in Bern, Switzerland. At the same time, in the same city, Hannah Morris shares a different side of climbing - unseen by many, but every bit as inspiring, valuable, and community focussed.
As part of @mammut campaign, Hannah was invited to Bern to experience the local underground climbing scene alongside pro climber Emil Abrahamsson.

In the shadows of the city, Hannah Morris follows a secret guidebook put together decades ago by local climbers to uncover urban highballs, water challenges, and creative routes. This film was made in partnership with the wonderful folks at @mammut
Although Hannah's story is tied closely to indoor climbing, and many of our community finds adventure in their local bouldering walls, in Bern, Hannah finds a kindred spirit. She finds community to push herself, creativity in movement, and a sense of self-accomplishment, which ultimately, reminds Hannah why she climbs.

It’s been a pleasure to help bring your experiences to film and live them with you - so proud of you ❤.
Honestly so impressed by everything about this. It was absolutely epic to see you push yourself like that
Couldn’t have done it without the best support crew! 🤗
my god, what a vid! You both inspire me big time
You were an amazing supporter and coach too. We enjoyed this video more than most we have watched. Our climbing channel is tiny but videos like this motivate us to make more!
Emil. You are a true legend. Never change 💪
This was such an awesome collab video guys, you make a good team!!
The filmmaking style, the interviewing, the ‘no-cut’ policy when Hannah’s pouring her heart out… Nathan and Hannah you have completely outdone yourselves this time!
A truly inspiring watch!
Well done HMB team, well done! 🎉
Thanks so much! Really appreciated by the both of us. 🥰🥳
This is such a good video! The climbing, the videography, the emotions, the edit. Thanks for making this beautiful film 🥲
Thank you so much Anna! Looking forward to your Sardinia film going up too. 🔥🫶
hearing how you connect your climbing to your struggles with confidence and inner strength was really impactful. i feel the same way, every small victory can add up into feeling more secure in everyday life. Glad there's mindful folks like you out there using their platforms to make those struggles feel less lonely.
That really means a lot to me, thanks for sharing! 🫶
Wow!!! One of the best climbing videos ever produced. This could easily be a part of the european outdoor film fest
Wow thank you so much! Nathan and I really appreciate it - was 1000% a joint effort and I’m so glad that the work shows 🥳☺️
@@hannahmorrisboulderingI love every second! I was always interested in urban bouldering. I think I wilm also try it now in my home town if it is possible.
What do you smoke ? Must be really good stuff, probably swiss made 😂
should watch some mellow
Emil is so supportive and patient
I think it‘s enough if you be yourself. :)
Wait.....Hannah and Emil together!? It is a must watch.
Very well done and edited. Thanks Hannah.
Everyone needs the kind of supportive friend like Emil is in the video. Climbing with people is a crucial part of the experience of me, and good people like Emil is the reason why. But also, way to go Hannah for pushing through the mental blockers and committing. Inspiring!!
This video is soo great 😍 Soo stoked that you were part of it Hannah! ❤
Thanks for having us! An experience I won’t forget in a hurry. ☺️🦣
As a guy who can't cry, I started tearing up when hannah made it over the top.
Something about overcoming your boundaries and taking a chance, and putting faith in yourself to try, even if you are scared, but you know you want to take this chance...
I think if I were there in emil's place I would really cry tears of happiness and pride. So glad to see hannah become more confident like this.
Aww, Hannah, this is just fantastic. I had tears in my eyes, thank you so much for being so open. You're my climbing inspiration ❤
I love the saying "Bravery isn't that you don't feel fear, it's that you feel it but still keep going" and i feel like that you embodied that on the highball. Super impressive and inspiring! Thanks for sharing that moment!
It's crazy to see how well this is put together. It's like a legit short climbing movie! Tells a story so well, so impressed. Well done for battling hard🎉 it's cases like this where the climbing community really comes together to show how supportive we all are when it comes to climbing at our limit and well put our comfort zones.
Another thing I love, Emil's psych for people committing and trying hard.
Well said ❤
Hannah, I have been enjoying your videos the last few months, and have been bouldering since a year.
I have watched all the impressive v16-17 sends on YT, but watching you battle that problem on the museum wall... man, that was something else. I was there with you on the wall. Getting nervous of the increasing height, sweaty fingers.
I also cried with you, after the send. Thanks for sharing this moment with us.
❤
Hannah, you're an inspiration. I greatly admire your vulnerability and openness in the face of challenges, and am so deeply impressed by how you pushed through your fear. You are incredibly strong! Thank you for this wonderful video.
I 100% felt like I was watching Reel Rock here, this was so well produced and the storytelling was fantastic.
wow that's a great compliment! Nathan 🚀
The emotional side of this is so beautiful! Incredible work all round!
Thanks so much!
Dude, Hannah is becoming a badass right before our eyes🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥…..Hell yeah Hannah🤙🏽
:D thank you so much
20:50 i TOTALLY felt this whole little speech. so beautiful that you can open up like this. climbing sure helps my self esteem a whole lot, and has such a warm community.
also big love to emil. what a wonderful spirited human being.
This video made me tear up. I’ve been in that position soooo many times where I’ll be climbing with a group of people and get so in my head. But you push through.
You’re an incredible climber. Seriously, you climb so gracefully.
Your channel has given me so much confidence in climbing. All of a sudden, i saw women climbing and LEARNING to climb and supporting one another. Thank you 💕 and keep creating - you’re an incredible creator.
Comments like this honestly make my heart burst - thanks so much. I can't tell you how much knowing that people see a bit of themselves in me and my climbing journey means :)
Hannah, I can't tell you how powerful your reflections about climbing, bravery, being out of control in 'real life' are for me. I have definitely been in a similar space both on and off the wall, doubting my ability and really feeling the fear, so to see you experience that and overcome it in this was amazing. I kind of felt I was the only one who gets a bit teary and deep after a scary boulder, so thank you for being so vulnerable. You are an amazing climber and an even more amazing advocate for looking after yourself. Thank you ❤
I would have balled my eyes out at the top omg
That’s so amazing!
You make me want to face my fears when it comes to climbing! Thank you for being vulnerable with us💜
This really is the best climbing film and UA-cam video that I’ve seen all year! What a cool city, great group of people, and so amazing to see you push through the fear. Thanks for being vulnerable so we can all learn from you and work on applying these lessons to our own climbing and life.
Glad you enjoyed it! That really means so much to Nathan and I :)
I've been watching the channel for 3 years, and I genuinely did not think Hannah was gonna go for the top. Just doing that one committing move was already a pretty good accomplishment. The homie, Hannah, done leveled up!
I've seen many engaging bouldering films, but few that are truly moving. This is definitely one of those few!
What a wonderful video. It is a really nice collaboration with Emil, great to see how supportive he is and how he inspires you to push your boundaries, one at a time. And of course congrats to you on conquering those boundaries💪Awesome job
Thank you so much!
Nice! Like the documentary style =)
I don't typically comment on videos, but this one got me so emotional. I've never related to a climbing video so much and it's made me feel so inspired. Thank you for sharing Hannah, this is beautiful ❤
That's so lovely to hear, thank you for commenting! :)
This is the best video you've made (so far!). Incredible shots and incredible journey.
Wow, thanks so much! 🤩
17:45 I cried with you Hannah. Great film, love the emotion. You capture the beauty of the climbing community so well
I was already crying before you reached the top of the boulder. I had no idea it also meant so much for you
The old skateboarding video shots are a nice touch ✨ this looks really fun, and Emil is such a great climbing partner. And congrats on sending that highball at the museum!
What you're saying about what climbing gives you I feel so much! I started climbing partially to help me overcome my intense fear of failure that has always been holding me back in life. This was a great video with really cool urban boulders and great storytelling!
This is the first video of yours that I’ve seen and it’s just so refreshing to watch someone climbing that I can see myself in. I absolutely relate to everything you said about confidence and connection. I also downplay my own achievements both in climbing and my real life, this is something I need to work on and it’s nice to see someone in the same boat as me 💛⭐️
urban bouldering is so cool. The fact that you're trusting that the construction crew that made the cement structure put the re-bar in all the right places so that a 300 kilo slab doesn't choss off and hurt you sort of adds more of that adrenaline seeking aspect and increases enjoyment. Great production quality and content btw. glad I found another amazing climber to sub to
Welcome! Glad you liked the video :)
Hannah what a joy to see you smiling ear to ear knowing you have just done it!! You did that and you can be proud of it :) I love watching you grow and pushing yourself! Well done xxx
You should be so damn proud of pushing yourself like that. Thankyou for being so open and honest. Its so easy to downplay when around climbers you feel are stronger than you, but one of my favourite things about climbing is that everyone appreciates and supports everyone who is pushing themselves hard, irrelevant of how difficult a climb might be to them.
This made me cry!! And want to climb right away
Great film Hannah. I've experiences all of those same emotions so many times now that I am finally getting some outdoor climbing in after 7 years of being a gym climber. Knowing where you limits are, respecting the ones that need respect but knowing where you can push is huge. Really well done working through that project, so stoked that you topped it as well.
Listening to you talk about the emotions you were feeling around climbing was really helpful for me, at this moment it was exactly what I needed to hear. I'm struggling a lot with feeling capable, and I'm not a climber yet but getting into watching a lot of it, and that made me realize why I'm suddenly so fascinated by it, and why I want to go from watcher to someone who actually does it myself. Thank you for being so vulnerable - and that jump was really exciting to watch, not because it was the hardest jump anyone has pulled off, but because it was clearly such a big step for you in your personal journey. That's the important part, and it makes it just as impressive to me as watching the competitors in the championships.
Legit brought a tear to my eye, so inspiring, so real! I say a tear... I sobbed a bit
I was crying before you came down and let your emotions out. It was a long way up and it was absolutely understandable that you were doubting yourself. Yet, you wouldn't let it defeat you. So impressive.
Thanks so much! I really do appreciate it 🥲☺️
I was an old school parkour athlete for many years before I was ever a climber and I approve of this video.
Hannah that was my favourite video of yours so far. When you managed to climb that museum wall it literally brought me to tears. I identify so much with your relationship to climbing and all the emotions that are intertwined with it, the fear, the doubt stopping you from doing things you KNOW you are able to do... You are an absolute inspiration, and i mean that
Intro was so sick
Thank you!!!!!
Beautiful film and what a wonderful climbing experience! Very proud of how hard you fought through the mental side. I feel like I have so many climbing friends that talk about the similar connection to anxiety and climbing. You spoke about wanting people to see a little bit of themselves in your content and I 100% think people do.
I can’t help crying after this work of art. Your honesty reaches us through your vulnerability and transparency. Most of us value how much climbing enables us to unlock ourselves from fears. Such sensation allows me to empathise instantly with you and I can’t say anything else but thank you!!!
Loved this video, always do, but this one especially so. It shows your passion, but also the community around u. Emil & friends were rooting for u, arms out if you fell, positive words to keep you going. Shout-out to Nathan he seems (pun intended) to be a rock for you
I’m planning on trying climbing for the first time next month. Bouldering really interests me because I live near Dartmoor. The main reason though is I want something that keeps me fit, healthy & flexible, combined with being outdoors & the community aspect really appeals to me. I’m bored of just working out indoors. I turn 49 next month as well.
I’m 8 weeks into a 12-week, (self created, but researched) training plan to increase my finger & grip strength. I’m being sincere when I say your videos have been an immense help in my research & truly inspire me 💝. I seem to be lucky & am still flexible. Basically I don’t want to injure myself on my first attempt, I’ve waited almost 49 years, 12 extra weeks prep feels sensible.
I’m struggling to find videos with advice for over-50’s climbing though. Not trying to tell you how to run your channel, but if u ever contemplate a video for over-50’s you’ll have a very happy subscriber here. If I enjoy bouldering (I’ve a feeling I’ll love it) I’ll set a target for my 50th birthday & go for it.
Look forward to your next video, have a joyful life & lots of happy bouldering 🤓
What a great film! Love your insights and HUGE BRAVO on that highball 🔥
Thank you so much, great to hear you enjoyed the film!
This was a fairly unexpected video for this channel, but in a good way. I especially like the 90s Climbing video aesthetic going on throughout the whole thing. Someone must've watched a whole bunch of The Real Thing.
Some old climber once said, "Highball bouldering is a feeling." And it really is one you don't really understand until you've been up there yourself. For me, climbing is at least 80% mental, and it's something a lot of people ignore or try and play down.
This is exactly like a mini movie!!! The start is amazing 🤩 loved this video thank you ❤️
Really powerful moment when you made it over the top. As someone who is extremely clumsy outside of the gym, it can be empowering to send projects that require full focus and a great deal of control. What you say about feeling connected to your own capability really resonates.
Maybe my favourite video of you yet. Well done and super cools spots
Glad you enjoyed it 🔥
Such a great video ❤ I’ve only been climbing for 7 months and only in the gym but your videos have been integral to my progress. To see you overcome the fear brought happy tears to my eyes as well. Thank you Hannah!
This is such an epic video. The quality in the production and filming experience is so good! Well done Nathan and Hannah! & of course to Hannah for being so open and vulnerable and sharing your fears - something we can definitely all relate to.
Glad you enjoyed it! Really appreciate the positive feedback - I definitely have Nathan to thank for so much of the creative process with this one. Couldn’t have made something half as good without his input and work. ☺️
your words at the end really touched me🥰 I have the same emotions with climbing. thanks for your work and inspiration.
So glad! Thanks for watching.
you’re amazing Hannah, and this vid is so raw and so brilliant. thank u for sharing
Thank you so much!! Really appreciate it :)
This is so much fun to watch! I loved this video. Hannah you’re so relatable and the way Emil encourages and coaches you is awesome. Thank you for this video!
Thank you!
Everything you say about doubt, and the feeling of achievement you can get out of climbing, even though climbing itself can sometimes be so frustrating really expressed what I feel and gave me more motivation to continue this journey. Thank you for your videos. They are beautiful, honest, kind and useful.
It’s so beautiful the way you opened up Hannah! Climbing it’s such a metaphor of life. Whatever fear we have takes the shape of a climbing wall. It was really inspiring to see you climb your fears!
Loved it!!!!!!!!! Brought tears in my eyes. Respect for your effort!! But even more for the openness!
Thank you so much! That really means so much to me 🥹
Very cool format and idea 💡 nice to see a different type of video!!! Epic collab with Emil , a really great video Hannah 🥹❤️ you are definitely an inspiration!!!
You are such an inspiration to me, as a climber and as a person. Thank you so much to share all that with us
Wow, thank you!
The fact that you and Emil posted banger vids at the same time 🔥🔥🔥
I've watched all your videos for months now. But this is honestly, by far, my favorite. The raw honesty and emotion and connection and support and beauty of it all was just incredible.
Amazing video Hannah! I can totally relate and I think you are so brave to share this to the world to show all of us "normal" people that it is ok not to be a pro and to be proud of pushing our boundaries, mental and physical! This was the most inspiring video I seen with you so far! Love it!
Wow thank you! That’s really appreciated. Thanks so much for your comment and for watching the film ☺️
Such a cool project! Loved that you showed the struggles of climbing and also it's so cool to see how supportive Emil but also the whole community is
Absolutely LOVED this film Hannah! Got back into climbing a year or so back and have found your content really honest and relatable; it's been a big inspiration to me and hearing you talk about your doubts and worries makes my own easier to cope with...top drawer
Also, as a school teacher, I may well be using you closing speech in my PSHE lessons...
So glad to hear it, thanks so much for your lovely comment. Climbing can be such a empowering hobby :)
Hannah! That was so f*cking cool! YOU did that! I'm literally crying on my couch watching this, haha. It's just all so freaking relatable and I feel so proud of you!
So glad to have you as a role model in climbing 💪🏻
That’s a scary high ball! Really proud of Hannah for sending this! 💪
Wow! What a brilliant and honest video. Superbly filmed edited.
You are so right that climbing allows you to overcome inner fears and low self confidence in lots of different ways. You are an inspiration to so many people including myself.
Thank you Hannah.
This is a fucking masterpiece! Thanks Hanna for your openness and you being awsome. Great inspiration for us all
Aw Hannah, I had a lump in my throat, you did brilliant such an inspiration. I've shared this with my 2 daughters one climbs the other doesn't but I think they'll both get a lot out of it. Thank you so much for sharing. Keep being brilliant!
Oh wow! Thank you SO much - I really hope your daughter's enjoy it :)
Been watching you’re videos since I started climbing consistently this past December. You’re first send to catch on your traverse route was amazing and I was so proud to see you do it. The fact you went back and did it again and went on to complete your project had me ecstatic. I felt like I was right there spotting or cheering you on. Amazing stuff Hannah
wow. i love this video so much. crying
Thank you!
Emil is such a Great bouldering partner.
Agreed ☺️
huge effort on that block boulder fair play, respect for exposing your vulnerabilities after topping the boulder, never an easy thing to do. also loved the style of this video very retro vibes
So impressive Hannah! I also struggle with my head on big high moves and watching you overcome that was amazing! Thanks for sharing :)
You're so welcome! Really glad you liked it
This was so emotional, really proud of you Hannah, I cried with you when you got that wall!
On a different note....Emil's pep talk after you got that first jumpy move...I fell a little in love 🥰 we all need an Emil in our corner when projecting!!
This was everything I never knew I needed. Respect and love.
Hanna, I am writing to you from Chile, thank you very much for your content, this new video format is incredible, I have watched your channel since the beginning and it is a real pleasure to enjoy climbing with your videos, keep it up and thanks for sharing
Love, Love, Love this video. I climbed today and there were moments when I was so scared. This video captures so much of my experience with climbing. It's so beautifully portrayed here.
Glad you enjoyed it! Fear is totally normal and EVERY climber deals with it :)
This is exceptional. What a fun video, beautiful editing, and super duper cool bouldering. Thanks Hannah and Emil, hope you're enjoying your trip to the fullest!
Thanks so much!
dublin also has a guidebook and urban bouldering. would love to see more of this content!! well done!!!
Awesome! I'll definitely check that out
I focused on climing for two months and it's just so good to see you go through you're fears. This video just confirmed that I want to be 100% invested in climbing. Thank you and you're awesome😀
Ah, really nice to hear. Climbing is so great, and such a good way to challenge yourself in lots of varied ways :)
This is amazing! We'd need a guidebook like that for every city. And Emil looks so supportive. Amazing content as always :)
what city do you live in?
@@hannestell Turin, Italy
The editing in this is great!
Thanks so much! Lots of work went into it and Nathan’s help cannot be stated enough! ☺️🫶
Such a good video. 😍 You did amazing, Hannah! 🥳🥳 I completely relate to that feeling of doubting yourself and having to push through and realizing what you’re capable of. 💛💛 Love Emil and his support too, he seems like a really good hype man and coach. 🥳
The editing is sick!!! Great video Hannah
Absolutely loved watching this video. I'm sitting at home nursing a sprained ankle and this video really moved me because you expressed something key about climbing that I've also been feeling but couldn't put words on. Thanks for inspiring and motivating us with your videos Hannah!
Hannah, you're like my kindred spirit! Excellent video - very human, fun and emotional.
Hannah = boss! That was so fun and impressive to watch ;) I hope, your and Emil's videos about this project set off an avalanche of imitators in other cities. Yes, you always have to do the moves all by yourself, but also, climbing sometimes is kind of a team effort and then it's even more rewarding if you send ;)
I really hope so too! I would absolutely love to see other people having adventures in their own cities and exploring the possibilities for climbing around them. Thanks for watching!!
Showing your weaknesses and your insecurities is such show's how powerful you are! You are absolutely amazing! Many climbing films show the climbing proces but not really the mental processes towards, during, and after the climbing as well as you did in this film! Wonderful work! Wonderful to see also how powerful friendship can be during struggles! Keep up the great work!
You ARE brave and capable. 💛
LOVE this. Not only is the video production spot on, but the climbs look sick and the community is represented really well. I think what you're achieving with this channel is really cool and is definitely reflected in this video.
Can also relate to the feeling of pride after finishing a scary climb contrasted with the frustration of getting so in your head about it beforehand, really great to see you push through that.
This got me so emotional, I relate to your feelings so much. And that`s the reason why I love climbing too, going inside and overcoming my self doubt. It gives me a medium to practice this, and to reflect it to real life. Thank you for putting your deepest feelings out here for us to relate and well done!
Really pushing the bar up for what climbing looks like on youtube, great job to everyone involved.
Really appreciate that :)
Hi Hannah, I never leave comments but I am so psyched to see you're in Bern, my hometown. How awesome! You are a true inspiration to me, I love how many things are so relatable to me, an average climber but loving it nonetheless! Enjoy the rest of your time here :)
P.S. durchfau is dialect here for diarrhoea, couldn't help but giggle ^^
Such a good series/event/whatever. Blurs the lines between artistic collaboration and the human body. Simply a masterpiece hannah! Hahaha
