My last trip in Flatanger in September/October 2023 gave me amazing feelings on Silence, the Vibes in the cave were extraordinary and climbing with many strong climbers helped me with my own project.

I have the feeling that he won't downgrade Silence...
Silence is definitely a 9c, because the amount of time Adam spent on it first, and Ghisolfi after, proves the route is harder than 9b+. But B.I.G. will eventually get downgraded, because it can't take two trips to climb a 9c. Time will tell!

@@mikej243 Shawn also showed up at Excalibur a while back. I'm pretty sure a copy of Shawn gets spawned out of thin air whenever someone is close to doing something really hard.

People forget how ahead of it's time this route is. Remarkable
Ondra's been ahead of his time for a decade and more. Even his FA of Terranova and grading it V16 might be soft.
Ondra recently said it will take you at least 2 more years to climb Silence. Prove him wrong and send Silence in 2024!
Yeah but he really means 2 more seasons. Depending on how long Stefano is in Norway each season will usually determine how long it takes someone to do something like this. If he only went 2 weeks/season, I could see that. Obviously this is monumental progress though, and it didn't seem like Stefano was this close before!

I was there with my wife in September last year and we saw Sthephano personely on this route. At his first day we remain the only 2 more people in the cave. Just Stephano with Sara and us. It was quite great to see one of the world's best climber in the probably hardest route in the world. Of course later on it was even greater to see Jakob on 1 side and Stephano just right from him on the 2 side..:-) I talked to Stephano and Sara very shortly, just few words basically, but I have to say they are both very nice and kind people. Wish you a lot of luck Stephano on this route. Hopefully, we will meet there again..:-) Even 7a - 8a climber like me can enjoy Flatanger extremely, there is so many great routes in these grades..:-)

I don't think I ever fully appreciated how horizontal the main crux is. It always looked like 30* overhanging, but in this video it looked nearly entirely horizontal.
Not a spoiler: the shots taken from under around and after 18:00 are incredible! Massive props to the film crew. Congrats on 100k also :)

Agreed, it's the first time I've seen the crux from that angle and it really shows how overhanging, complex and sustained that sequence is. Bravo!
That cave is unreasonably large.

When the text appeared that the static rope is after an 8b route i just thought if i would skip the first 8a part of my climbing projects i would be just rappeling down from the anchor 🤣So if silence drains you just drop by and we can rappel together maybe less satisfying but also less straining ;). Nice video as always cool vibes.
I loved the different perspectives/angles of the route, which truly show how hard it is!

The sound, the cinematography, I don‘t know what it is but this edit was amazing.
This thing is so hard even though you know it’s possible. Adam’s ability to keep trying for days and weeks on end with nothing but his belief in the possibility of this section going is remarkable.
Man he just unintentionally showed me the massive difference in talent between him and me (8a climber) when he said he just discovered that changing slightly the angle of his hand had a massive impact like that microbeta was what made my 7c-8a routes possible. Its so amazing to hear him say it unironically

Incredible vid, so much stoke and drive to send. Stefano and Jakob are outrageously strong so their effort required speaks volumes to Adam Ondra's strength, drive and vision for the send. Silence will stand the test of time as one of the greatest achievements of our sport. Hoping for the repeat!
The rock in Flatanger just looks incredible! The different camera angles of the climb really show how cool it is. Obviously very, very hard, too, of course!
