I appreciate Portnoy too but Mike Mangini is one of the most technically advanced drummers in the entire world. When you look at the list of names he beat to win the spot in this band (Thomas Lang, Achilles Priester…just to name a few) , you **really** begin to get the picture.
Earlier this year I saw Aquiles performing with Tony McAlpine touring with Sons of Apollo. I was telling the dude I was with that he was the dude that fumbled during the DT drummer auditions. He did look good when I saw him though.....and is still a power drummer...
Mr Jsfanatic!! Nice work and share here...kudos.. Somebody skillful needs to mux this gem video with high quality bootleg audio out there if it exist.. It would be super nice !
This is AWESOME. I was there that night and the night after. Do you have metropolis from that night? That was seriously the best I've ever heard him sing it since the 90's
@Chris Collins: The vocal harmonies are just coming from a playback, I believe, so someone correct me if I'm wrong! They were recorded by Labrie during the recording of ADTOE, and I'm guess that Petrucci didn't have the range to hit some of it, so they have it as a playback type of thing. Don't worry though haha, for everything else is as live as live can be!
The basic drum tracks were not composed by him no (Petrucci programmed the basic tracks), but all the finer details were completely his. You don't bring in a world class drummer like him and then try to chain him down completely. They could have just gotten any old session drummer for the recording if that was what they had wanted.
I was there; great show and great video!! Saw this tour 11 times; EPIC! I posted this song from the San Francisco show, check it out! Just search this song live in San Francisco! Dreeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaammmmm Theeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaatttttteeeeerrrrrr!
I know I'm late to the party but holy crap my brain was blown away during that solo. I always imagined that it was super complex but when I saw JP using so many different techniques on that solo I cummed. I wish you had zoomed when Jordan did his solo and wow MM really has lots of stamina to keep up with this song. My only complaint is how boring James LaBrie looks. He looks like those unhappy McDonald's employees and his voice is not great anymore :/
Unfortunately you cant separate LaBrie from the band. his voice IS DT. We all are getting lder and cannot perform as we once used to not matter what we do. It is just a part of life...
the song is just a lil boring for his part and for him obvioulsy, but he executes it perfect and this one is all about the band and to please the crowd with some METAL
Wow this is the first time I've seen JP mess up :) I feel kinda special :) I love this song for the technical difficulty of the solos and unisons, outside of that it's sadly mediocre :)
The entire album was too awesome. But Bridges In The Sky and this track were the epitome of amazing
Mangini looks so happy and proud to be with DT.
I'm a huge Portnoy fan but man...after seeing both of them live Mangini is just a straight up boss.
I appreciate Portnoy too but Mike Mangini is one of the most technically advanced drummers in the entire world. When you look at the list of names he beat to win the spot in this band (Thomas Lang, Achilles Priester…just to name a few) , you **really** begin to get the picture.
Mike Mangini AWESOME
This recording is better than a lot of post produced live albums Ive heard
I thought this was impossible to play live. I was wrong :D
It is, except for Dream Theater.
@1980Davor
Mangini is the best you can find for everything... see his face at 6:29 watching James waiting Mangini's fill :)
I love that MAN!
Mangini o melhor 👏👏👏👏👏
you sir, deserve an OSCAR for best film-director!!!!!! GODBLESS YOU MATE, GODBLESS YOU!!
My three options were Mangini, Minnemann and Lang. I feel bad for Aquiles. He is the best power metal drummer ever for sure.
Earlier this year I saw Aquiles performing with Tony McAlpine touring with Sons of Apollo. I was telling the dude I was with that he was the dude that fumbled during the DT drummer auditions. He did look good when I saw him though.....and is still a power drummer...
Que temón para mi el mejor del ADTOE
2:15 This is Mangenius!!!
6:23 James: Hey Mike! Proove me you're the best!
BEST song from ADTOE... Hands down...
Mr Jsfanatic!! Nice work and share here...kudos.. Somebody skillful needs to mux this gem video with high quality bootleg audio out there if it exist.. It would be super nice !
Mangini is.... #speechless
Great recording dude. Congratz.
One of my favorite guitar solos, definitely
One of the most difficult songs to drum on this album.
The best dude, fucking awesome recording! Thanx a lot for this:)

I WAS THERE FOR THIS!!!!!!
The first time I heard that unision...my jaw just dropped to the floor! Its still down ther!

This is AWESOME. I was there that night and the night after. Do you have metropolis from that night? That was seriously the best I've ever heard him sing it since the 90's
Those guys owns it so much!!!!!!!!
Master Mike Mangini..........great drummer..
Great recording
Priceless!
I WAS THERE!!! THIS SHIT WAS AMAZING!!!!!!
really Mr. Bransen...regarding the intro...its similar to Under a Glass Moon...
@Chris Collins: The vocal harmonies are just coming from a playback, I believe, so someone correct me if I'm wrong! 9:39 Mangini does work.
Mangini was the perfect choice for DT
I wanna know who came in a close second behind Mangini when DT was auditioning a new drummer!? Damn!
Mangini is so fun to watch...love the hands move at 2:23
WHAT THE FUCK! DT has come more insane this year!
Mangini monster drum
lol, I can even hear Myung's bass throughout this track....wasn't necessarily so in Peoria a couple weeks ago....
what an epic agony!!!
Mangini is stellar!!!
whoa i didnt think it was possible, they have proven me wrong once again.
Breaking All Illusions is the best for me. But Lost Not Forgotten is amazing too.
DAMN THAT SOLO
I love the Mike's style in minute 2:50
Mangini didn't even construct the drum parts on ADTOE. He just recorded them.
Best solo for sure..
THE BEST BAND EVER =)
2:15 manginis technique and speed here is ridiculous

Pues a huevo es un dios
JP's headbanging reminds me of Skwisgar Squigelf from Metalocalypse.
After the certainty of death, this argument is the biggest true!
100% agree with you :D
7:58 fav part!! Sooo cool
5:01 Labrie DanceCool! hehe :D
Just seeing this for the first time - SUPERB recording! What camera did you use - a Lumix? BEST band on the planet - thanks for posting! \m/
DT number one!!
7:34 min - the first time I see a mistake by John Petrucci on the guitar :-)
Maybe he is also just a human...
imagine: dream theater with gavin harisson....
Any one know where the vocal harmonies are coming from?
FUCK YEAH
solo PEtrucci sounds beautiful!!!
i love it, when mike hitting chinese on the right top of him...
Marco Minnemann for sure.
só que tem bom gosto aprecia uma boa música,o resto e resto. DT forever
Even though I think Bridges In The Sky is the best song from ADTOE, this chorus is just so fucking epic!!!
1:56 Little mistake by Petrucci. Get lower fret. This is proof that he is human like us :)
00:58 It's.... unbelievable.
this is much better than Luna Park ver. (imo)
Mangini is a cyborg
the tone of the solo reminds me of Andromeda :p
great band
Acho que você não entendeu o que eu quis dizer...interpretação querido.
2:15 Holy crap.
it seems very easy for Mangini...
6:23
that's just funny to me
Mangenius > Pornoy

Anyone vouch for Outcry?
9:40 Oh my monks
9:39 Mike, would you be offended if I used the restroom?
Wow this is the first time I've seen JP mess up :) I feel kinda special :) I love this song for the technical difficulty of the solos and unisons, outside of that it's sadly mediocre :)
lol @ 6:23 James: Go ahead, impress me xD
Outcry ?
Under a glass moon 2
the german guy.. marco minnemann.. and third, the swedish one, peter wildoer..
there is one more mistake you can find on youtube, one that's a little bit more obvious that this but he's still a god nevertheless
under a glass moon 2.0
Gee... suddenly this has some Deep Purple-ish feel allover it....
Nah that was planned to THINK it was a mistake.
Acho que se refere a você, não?! rs.
Mangini haters watch at 5:03
Mangenius lml
Breaking all Illusions my friend. I'll have to disagree with you there.
poor mike portnoy could never play like this.
