I've been a Progressive Rock/Metal fan for decades. These guys are unbelievable. I've watched everything from King Crimson, Genesis, Yes, Rush, and many others. Dream Theater is the most fun and impressive to watch and listen to. Just look at Myong mirror Pettruci chord by chord and the speed of both of them. Flawless playing through the entire concert. They are truly the greatest ever.
Technically impressive, but after a while it gets boring run after run and eventually becomes uninspiring to the point where there is no distinction or creativity of musicality. I have seen Dream Theater many times and always the same boredom kicks in after a while, I love technicality, but I love musicality as well. Yes, ELP and King Crimson posess both, Dream Theater never mastered the musicality department like the others have. And to me I gig them harshly on that and why to me they were never a complete perfect band. Now in terms of their technical playing, they are a perfect band, but going back to what I was saying about that fine level balance, DT is not the perfect complete Progressive band.
@mustafa kp. I really like Porcupine Tree especially when they are live. Actually they are the only band I have collected live albums from. I like their studio material but... Their acoustics and atmospheric display are far superior on their live shows.
@@jskypercussion I couldn't disagree more. Dream Theater managed to find their signature sound and style. I think they have a perfect mix of the technical virtuosity and the heart and soul of songs where they leave the shredding and riffing on the shelf. Some just refuse to acknowledge it. They only hear the notes open your heart along with your mind.
