  • Simple way to install bearing with no need to use a press nor a hammer. If you follow my instructions you will be able to press the new bearing on by hand avoiding expending more energy than needed or risking damage with a hammer

Can Put the shaft in the freezer for more thorough cooling and a hairdryer will heat the metal enough to expand. great info!!

This was great thank you. I'll add that I had it in ice water and before I put the bearing on I used air in a can upside down to really freeze it. I had to wipe off the ice but the bearing pretty much just fell on there without me having to even push it, let alone hammer.

@@micahl6961 yes it did! I added salt to the ice water, shaft in ice water 2 hours, I set the bearing out in full sun for 2 hours. I used a piece of pipe, 1 1/4 I'd I think. I did have to tap it on with a hammer, it was very easy to do! I hope this helps

@@stephenowen1644 thanks bro. Going to try some dry ice and a gently handled heat gun and see if i can do this job for $30. This is truly a wallet saving tip. Thanks for confirming.

@@micahl6961 if its sunny and over 80 degrees where you are ,I felt safe putting it out in the sun.
Rehears the sequence of moves first, have all tools at the ready, then go for it. Good luck!

Salt! Did you have salt between the shaft and the bearing......now everything will rust!

What temperature did you have set to and about how long would you say you gave bearing to heat up?
