- I needed to make some space in my shop quick so I had to finish a couple projects that had fallen to the wayside. I've had this cab for a minute but haven't had time to get into it. Once I finally got some new period correct speakers for this I was pleasantly surprised at the tone!
What do you think?
holy shit... Serpent Crown... that band brings back some memories for me.
Really great tone! The cab and amp are perfect together, and this sound of bass, wow. I saw that it's a fender, but I'm sure you changed pickups or electronics or both, whatever, it sounds badass! 🤘🏻
This is my favorite bass guitar. It's a Japanese Fender Jazz Special. All original pickups and electronics! They later rebranded this model as the Precision Lyte as there were too many variations of the Jazz Special. This one has a smaller body than the "Boxer" bass. The body style on these is neither Jazz or Precision. It's kind of it's own thing. Very light weight but sounds great.
The bass sounded great. Love seeing vintage gear repaired and actually used
The badge is from 1964-65 Buick Special.
DUDE! Thank you! I was looking around on some old cars but nothing ever came up. This community is great! Mystery solved!
Looks like an old Peavey. They had that thin wood back then. Lol..
This appears to be a Sunn 2x15. They share the same 1/4" round-over with smaller corner protectors, same tolex, thicker front cab edge, no factory casters, and the interior design is classic Sunn. The grill cloth appears to have been replaced based on the video.
Thanks for the info! I haven't seen enough Sunn cabs up close to know for sure but some pictures I had seen were definitely pointing in that direction. I did not know about the cabs never having factory casters. Very helpful info, thanks again.
@@purgasound It looks a lot like a SUNN 200S cab.
Awesome video! Are we hearing a demo version of bored to death during the repair sections?
Good ear!
The box dimensions and corner protectors seem like 60s Sunn to me. Maybe the grillcloth isnt original to the cab. edit: I didnt see that someone else suggested Sunn too. This gives me more confidence in this theory.
I have one of these, it’s a Sunn cab. I’m having an issue with it though that if you really crank the amp it wants to vibrate whatever head it’s got on it, off if it. Any tips on how to get it to stop doing that?
The tolex on your cab is just slick. Simple solution is a silicone kitchen mat. I have a couple old peavey cabs that do the same thing.
Kinda looks home made?
