I owned a 1976 GP. I bought it in 1979 with only 22k miles and sold it in 1985 with 130k trouble free miles. I felt like a king driving that car on the interstate. I wish I never sold it. This is the last of the true Grand Prixs.

Another awesome revive and drive! That ol girl deserves some love. New starter, tighten up the front end, carb, clean tank etc. I think it can be made into a pretty reliable cruising machine. I don't care what anyone says, the big underpowered 70's American land yachts time is coming, maybe not in value but popularity.

Nevermind all of the rusted body panels, the fuel supply situation, the issues with the tank itself, the starter, the brakes, the leaking radiator, and everything else...😂😂😂 I'm just playing bud. It would be a nice project for someone to take on to repair all of the rust, replace the tank, overhaul the braking system, the T-tops, and rock it around. I know that I'd pimp it.

I tell you what - there's nothing like completing a journey in a car that likes throwing you a curve ball every few miles. The sense of satisfaction in getting the beast to where you want to go under its own steam (literally in this case too!) is one that is hard to replicate.....and it gives you some great stories to tell and relive as well. Good on you both for persevering and letting the Ponty prove herself once she cleared her throat, stretched and could get down to business after the expected repairs of her doing that. All the best

Always had those big cars. Last one was 1979 Lincoln town car. As long as you’re not blind, you don’t need “road feel”. Just don’t over drive the car. (Don’t go around curves like an Indy car). And those cars could take a beating. I got hit in a 1965 ford wagon while sitting at a red light, behind a tractor trailer. The guy who hit me was doing 60mph in the rain and never hit his brakes. He put a big dent in the back of my car, yet I drove it home. (He had a 1972 Buick Rivera.) he didn’t. Nowadays, a low speed impact will total a vehicle!

It didn't have much power, but it did sail down the interstate. I drove it to FL from NY and back, and never got more than 12 mpg, was the next to last year of the nice mid-sized GM body on frame. Wish I still had it as the old car guys are grabbing them up for the nostalgic factor, very cool rugged old ride.

I had a 73 same color but white interior. Then a drunk scout for the cowboys hit me head on in a caddy. Swapped it in on a gmc high Sierra 2 tone blue. Urban cowboy times! Fun times. Ty for saving her, great video. Seems like it would not need much to be a good driver..

I had a '77 Grand Prix in highschool, bench seat, small block 301, and Cragars: 215's up front & 245's out back! I Loved that car, definitely found a few ditches with it back then, it was a fun car to drive!

What a trip down memory lane here. My sister had one of those back around 1980 or so and it was a beautiful car!!

    Cody saved the day.
I once put black pepper in a busted radiator and drove several 1000 miles with it.
Didn't lose a drop of coolant. It set in the hole and completely sealed it.

I had a '76 SJ in high school in the late 80's. Back then, it was just an old car, but now, I'd love to have it back. I have never owned or driven another car that handled like that one. In the quarter mile, with 3.08 gears, a bicycle could outrun me, but once I hit 50 or 55, it was on! 100MPH was its favorite cruising speed. If he's still alive, there is a Kentucky State Trooper still looking for me. ;-)

There is something so charming about US land yachts. This one is a jewel, and def worthy of a light restoration.

I had a 1971 grand prix. It was real clean car. One thing I thought was awesome about the car was the outside door handles. The fuel gauge didn't work so I accidentally ran out of gas. Pulled as far as I could off the road but someone still managed to rear end it.
