Dude thank you for mentioning the vr1 oil. So many people pour in whatever oil they are familiar with, without even considering its meant for new cars specifically. I ruined a hot rod 454 with the wrong oil. (.30 over flat tops, cam, intake, 750 demon carb, headers, ls7 style rec port heads...) It ran excellent for about 10,000 miles And i had been using vr1 20/50. It only took 500ish miles on Castrol to ruin it.

Dalton, your dry humour is impeccable. Please keep it. "The next guy who touches this will be screwed. And that next guy is probably me. Thankfully I hate that guy" and "I just turn off the part of my brain that cares" are my favourites so far.
Dalton lighting a cigarette while fuel sloshes around in the boat tank in the back seat, with the fuel line underneath the driver's seat only protected by that steel mesh, was probably the biggest fate tempt he could have pulled. Bravo sir. at 1:17:47
Anyone who thinks Dalton wouldn’t try to drive this death trap home hasn’t been paying attention to the channel. This is the guy who drives a bullet riddled GTO all over hell and creation!
Amazing, it made it. Call it a break in ride. Lil tinkering , lil more patching , a bigger fuel cell, hood ipins ( for easier opening) its ready for power tour! Id keep it patena style , lil suspension work . Everyone inc kevin was skeptical, proved em all wrong. Did real good, not a drop fell ( burned , but not dropped). A good solid driver to add to the fleet. Tinker on it and take it on power tour
I'm torn. On one hand, I love it. It's ratty, it's dirty, it's horrible and it's awesome. On the other hand... It's a freaking 1969 GTO. After seeing the silver dollar go back together, I have a good feeling that this could be 'restored', just like that truck. If it was a base Lemans where hundreds of thousands were made, no one would care. But its a piece of American history right there, a piece of the late Pontiac's legacy, something that's been written of in song.
WOW you are a Pontiac genius. This is a awesome channel to learn about classic Pontiac cars 👍 On the 8th day the GTO gods said do a burn out. I enjoy every episode 👍
I have to say, I am mighty impressed. I honestly did not believe that it would get you the full 250+ miles home under its own power. That is quiet possibly the most rusted out GTO I have ever laid eyes on.
Meanwhile, over on the other side of The Pond, I got an 'advisory' on my MOT* that the radiator support bracket had surface rust on it and should be replaced . . . . *MOT is a yearly inspection for UK cars over 3 years old - you can't legally drive without one.
The more heavily populated states tend to have vehicle inspection and emissions tests. The more lightly populated ones, like Iowa and Missouri, do not. Also, cars there rust like crazy due to the winter salt on the roads so seeing cars destroyed by rust is common.
And I'm a Brit ex-pat living in Berlin, Germany. Just got my 20 year old Astra through the TÜV (German bi-annual MOT) , couple of advisories but no big issues. I'll keep her as long as I can. I don't know how the hell Dalton gets away with these escapades but he does.
@@laurencehastings7473To explain to our American cousins, an over zealous MOT tester will actually attack the sills - rocker panels to you guys - with a specially made small pointed hammer to check for rust. ... ..
V@@AltTechFanMissouri has safety inspections and emissions tests. The hordes of illiterate, illegal aliens drive all kinds of vehicles in the US without a valid US drivers license, no insurance, no valid state license plates or a proper title for a vehicle.

Dalton, I have done drum brakes many times and I know how hard it is even when you don't have to replace the wheel cylinders and the lines. You are a hard worker for sure.
Get a new frame. Weld the body back up. Keep it scrap panel style though, and of course more license plates. Leave her rough, toughen her up and call her the Road Pirate!!!!
Without a doubt, the way the car looked when you decided it was ready for the road trip home, was the most impressive change to a vehicle body I've ever seen. That rusted GTO looked so bad, and you made it better than I thought anyone could make it look. Spoilers: and you got home safe! Well done Dalton!
Reminds me of my 1980 Pontiac Catalina with a 3.8... It was a quart every 80 miles but no plugs fouled and no leaks. I filled it with gear lube and drove it for 23k, without an oil change (self changing). Motor still ran, pulled it and dropped in a Buick 350 from a 76 lesabre and drove it 38k until the mounts for the rear end was gone
Dalton I’m amazed you were able to get that car to run and make a 250 Mile drive…that’s awesome! Can’t wait to see what you do to it! You are assembling a rather unique collection of GM A bodies.
Had a 70 coronet, not quite that bad, front fenders would flap out and catch air, pick the front end up and switch lanes unintentionally at about 100 miles N hour.
My first car back in 1985 was a 1968 Ford Custom 500 that had a similar frame problem, namely that the left rear portion was rusted out so much that the body mount was just sandwiching a piece of rusty metal that was not attached to anything. I took a piece of metal and drilled a hole in it and placed that under the frame and ran a bolt up thru the body and basically hung the rear of the from from the body. Midwest 16yo engineering.
I welded for a living and as long as you have clean welds with no porosity, then it should hold 10,000 pounds per square inch of good weld! Great video love both channels! Dalton, I’m so happy to see you getting a barn. It has been my dream too! God will provide I know, and I am so glad to see you doing well, Dalton!
This was AWESOME ! .. Honestly, please restore her to the point of being safe..and keep driving her. she don't have to be perfect, She's amazing though and still has so much power in her. It may sound stupid, but I kinda love the car.

I love your commitment to these cars. Please don't die for them. Thanks for the vid!
Did anybody else hear the Dukes of Hazard in their head when Kevin was awkwardly climbing in the window?
More like dukes in a Hazard 😂
Dalton, your dry humour is impeccable. Please keep it. "The next guy who touches this will be screwed. And that next guy is probably me. Thankfully I hate that guy" and "I just turn off the part of my brain that cares" are my favourites so far.
Dalton lighting a cigarette while fuel sloshes around in the boat tank in the back seat, with the fuel line underneath the driver's seat only protected by that steel mesh, was probably the biggest fate tempt he could have pulled. Bravo sir.

Someone mentioned that the 2 quarts might have been sucked up by the TP "Filter". So didn't even burn oil.
@@NEEDbacon - right , forgot about the tp roll
But its a piece of American history right there, a piece of the late Pontiac's legacy, something that's been written of in song.
i think a disgustang style "resto" would be best. Fix the rust but leave it.
WOW you are a Pontiac genius. This is a awesome channel to learn about classic Pontiac cars 👍
On the 8th day the GTO gods said do a burn out.
I enjoy every episode 👍
I have to say, I am mighty impressed. I honestly did not believe that it would get you the full 250+ miles home under its own power. That is quiet possibly the most rusted out GTO I have ever laid eyes on.
Kevin’s dad just going “your driving this home” killed me
It's a good day when a new PBG video drops. Can't wait to watch this after work!
Boss makes a dollar, I make a dime. I watch PBG on company time 😂
Meanwhile, over on the other side of The Pond, I got an 'advisory' on my MOT* that the radiator support bracket had surface rust on it and should be replaced . . .
Great video! Loved seeing the creative “rust repair “ and the collaboration with JYD as well as the other characters that dropped in to help and get the job done so that you could get it done and get home with it. Thanks and have a great weekend!
The nice thing about rusty cars is that you have more crumble zones, and hence improved safety.
Amazing! I think it has earned some love for making it that far, I hope to see more of the rustbucket in the future!
I think you will
Just a note to say love the content and keep going. Great to see the younger generation pushing forward and working on the old stuff I grew up with
Kevin's face when ya'll went for a ride!😂
I'm pretty sure he thought he was going through the floor when you hit that bump! 😮
My uncle had a gold 69 with a black vinyl top. I watched in horror as it rusted away. I loved that car. Amazing content. Thanks for saving it.
The pure joy on Dalton's face and the pure terror on Kevin's face, wholesome friendship fuckery right there. 🤣
Good episode, appreciate Dalton's rescues, and so much fun with junkyard digs service equipment perks👍
That “coin purse” Dalton found was actually a leather cigarette case . My mother used to rock one of those back in the day . Had room for a “ soft pack “ and a lighter . Back when smoking Kool menthols was still “Kool” .
Matching Numbers 😅😅Rust Belt GTO said I ain't done yet !! Weld me up, and let's go home. 😊😊😊
You guys are the real deal when it comes to salvaging rusting junk and driving it not ten miles or 50 miles but hundreds of sketchy miles to Home ,Tetanus shot Garage ,what a great Line .Al is a funny guy. Thanks to the Guys at Junkyard Digs garage for helping Dalton getting his rusty Hulk of a Goat safe enough to Make the trip ,words of wisdom from Dalton ,Breaks and tires ,The more you know
Dalton, I have done drum brakes many times and I know how hard it is even when you don't have to replace the wheel cylinders and the lines. You are a hard worker for sure.
Oh I’ve been waiting for this one been seeing the teasers on Facebook and instagram
The hour glass worth of sand dumping out of the muffler is classic!
Pontiacs never die!! You taught me that
Get a new frame.
If you can drive the holey goat to Tucson and back, this'll definitely make it!!
1:24:40 the toilet roll filter might have soaked up some of that oil as a filled up the bypass.
Best workday distraction!
Love your creativity, it's inspiring!
