Sorry the subtitles are blurred. We had to horizontally flip the video to avoid copyright which made the subtitles illegible 🤷♂
Thanks for blurring them, having backwards subtitles would be really distracting!
I’m so happy ‘Derry Girls’ exists to remind us about the power of humour. And the divine presence of Sister Michael.
the humor is CRACKER!
The cast did a baking show on Netflix one episode, and the actor who plays Sister Michael gave very similar energy to her character in some moments. They are all hilarious, wonderfully comedic actors
@@L33W1NT3R5yeah, wasn’t it celebrity bake off (great British bake off but with cast members of Derry girls) if I remember correctly?!
@@kathrynandersonmusicalloveryes you’re right
So the thing with Uncle Colm is he’s actually a very interesting person. His tales and joke are entertaining af. But it’s his tone and the way he talks about them that bores everyone to tears.
He’s probably one of my favorite characters on the show lol
Especially the story in THAT scene in season 3..if you know, you know!
As an Irish person, can I just say how much I appreciate you two reacting to this show? It feels like it's so rare for any Irish shows or movies to ever get recognized on UA-cam, so for you guys to watch this show it means the world to me!
what other shows or films do you love???
@@PinkPopcast The 2015 film Brooklyn, starring Saoirse Ronan, is for sure one of my favourite films of all time 💕
@@PinkPopcast i’m not Irish, but an amazing irish (and queer!!) movie is Dating Amber! it’s one of my favorite queer movies, i think it’s a wonderful story about friendship and coming into your own as a queer person against societal and familial pressures.
@@PinkPopcastyou need to watch dating amber it’s one of my favourite movies it’s Irish and queer
Derry girls is super popular in the US! My friends and I are obsessed with it
Clare is an icon. Sister Michael is an icon. Everyone in this wee show is a wee fucking icon
Ain’t that the wee fuggin truth of it?
The moment when you remember no matter how badly James's extended family talk to him and about him (in front of him) at least they still took him in. Didn't just send him back to his mum in a parcel with his head sticking out.
God heartbreaking
Last ep always makes me tear up. Even more rewatching when you learn about Michelle’s brother. You guys probably finished on patreon so i’ll just say: rewatching on the pilot michelle mentions James took her brother’s room. Which is probably why right away she was aggressive towards him. But she loves him so much, even when he kissed Erin she immediately admits if they were to date and break up, she would stick by him over her best friend. He came to her broken home after the ordeal with her brother, and became her family. She is also his only family because his mother wasn’t a stable home. Their relationship always makes me tear up because as much as its play for laughs, they truly became siblings.
Oooh omg we didn’t realize that, that makes so much sense!
completely missed that about michelle's brother. what happened to him?
@@bulletcorn5999 what happened to him is explained in the series’ ending so SPOILER:
He was part of the struggles and the war and had killed people. Was in jail. Part of the vote that ended the struggles was to release all prisoners and pardon them hoping that would calm both sides and end the war. Erin didn’t know if she agreed to that, but Michelle loved and missed her brother so that’s what the fight about. In the pilot it is mentioned James is staying in her brother’s room. Which explains her initial animosity towards James and also why he means so much to her too
It makes me so happy to see this show so well loved. I was a Catholic school girl who lived about 40 minutes from Derry City at pretty much the same time. The music, the fashion, the craic is so spot on. Also, us trying to live normal lives while hearing about violence every single day, being evacuated because of bomb scares, all so real. I love that part of my youth has been captured for my teenage son to see because we have very few videos and photos in comparison to now. It was the most magical time and the worst of times too, especially for those who had to experience the real terror. The thing that kept us going was our friendships and our sense of humour.
Jesus I'm so sorry! It must be so validating to see a story like yours so loved!
@@PinkPopcast No need to be sorry. I was one of the lucky ones who didn't lose anyone to jail or death! I'd say the population of the 2 big cities, Derry and Belfast, had it worse. I saw Bill Clinton in Belfast after he had been in Derry. One of the most exciting nights of my life. I am beyond grateful for the Good Friday agreement and the peace process in general. I am also so grateful that our young people today know so little of what went on really. Derry girls is just a spectacular piece of television. Glad it is appreciated world wide and wish our nuns in school were more like Sister Michael...I think!
You cut the line " the hairdresser certainly did " from the reaction. It's so funny!!!!!
Lol yea we lost so many good jokes having to cut it down 😭
@@PinkPopcast anyway great reaction.
Yeeeees !! Sister is a SAVAGE ! I love her !
Still in shock at Benji saying "that's not a thing" to the guy saying "Protestants are British and Catholics are Irish"! That was the WHOLE thing! I wonder how much these guys know about the Troubles
Lol I more meant that there’s probably SOME Irish Protestants or British Catholics.. but that’s probably wrong, I know that’s the whole premise of the show 😅
@@PinkPopcastNot just the show. That was a huge part of the reason for the conflicts between them in real life.
Benji on his quest to master the accents of the British Isles. Rooting for you! 🎉
Thank you🙌 😄
I want a Dead Poets Society battle between Ms. De Brún and professor Whitman from Community
Oh my god! The egos! The lack of self awareness! THE CRINGE!
i come from a family with a protestant half and a catholic half and the biggest difference is that the protestant hald will hang out and gossip for 4 hours after church and the catholic half pulls out hand sanitizer the second after the one part of mass where we have to shake hands. also the catholic sacraments are much funnier. we get slapped lol
Oh my god that’s hilarious 😆
Catholics are nuts
the amount of times i've seen season 2,, because there was such a huge time gap between 2 and 3, i just watched 2 on repeat lmao, it's so good
😂😂
37:34 He's the person the rest of the audience identifies with - the one whose stunned over every day things that happen in Northern Ireland (or did happen in the troubles), like not calling the police when you find a suspected terrorist in the back of your car (no matter which side he works for though chances are news would get back to his base so you'd be dead anyhow).
CHEERED OUT LOUD so glad you're continuing the series!!
🙌🙌❤️❤️
Effing Jenny trying to imply she’s “good friends” with Zara Phillips, daughter of the Princess Royal😂
Wooooooooooow 😂
Was rewatching the first season video recently and was thinking season 2 would be so cracker. Ready to rewatch the hell out of this one too.
It totally was Cracker!!
Fuck a doodle doo!
That second episode where they don’t get to find out who Keyser Soze is because they have to leave the cinema and then the girls photo line up being the line up
Poster for The Usual Suspects is quiet genius
I thought 'the believe in the same god' was a similarity but then someone else said that if I said that in a room of catholics and protestants I'd get treated to an hour long lecture/rant about how it's not really the same
As an ex-Christian myself, I can attest to this. I’ve dealt with a lot of product and dated Catholics in my day. It’s fascinating how many differences there “technically” are.
But it is the same god.
I've seen NO one react to Whip it. Drew Berrymore directed it. Idk if you guys take recommendations, but I recommend it. It's literally iconic and touching on a unique topic. Roller derby with strong women!👀
Oh wow! I haven’t watched that in YEARS and I’m not sure Benji ever has! Wish Drew Barrymore direction… Barry MORE!
I started playing roller derby after watching whip it! And I still play!
I wish they'd make a spin off series where we follow other teams in the league, because there could be so many interesting characters in that world
Anyone notice that Theo from S2 of Bridgerton was in this? He was the guy who was dumped by... I mean mutually stopped dating a model.
We did NOT! thank you for pointing him out to us 😮
Also, Aunt Sarah's boyfriend played Nigel Berbrooke...the creepy one Daphne punched!
@@KK-oe4xw YES! I knew that and completely forgot about him. He is such a different character in each show.
@@psychedelicpegasus7587 Yeah, took me ages to work it out because the actor is Irish in real life.
19:50 I forgot they played Kylie Minogue's Better The Devil You Know (from 1990). That song has history, or better yet, is *gay history* .
🏳️🌈🏳️🌈🏳️🌈
I recently watched something with her in it on Tubi, very short series and has a lot of heavy serious topics, but the music is amazing, the actors are incredible. I seriously love Nicola Coughlan, and watch her in anything shes in. Show is called "Big Mood" in case anyone reading was curious about the show. But highly reccomend looking up what trigger warning are in it first
Thank you so much for the heads up!
That last episode, with James and then Clinton’s speech always makes me cry like a baby
I somehow missed that Calam Lynch has a tiny role in Derry Girls, He played Theo the printers assistant in Bridgerton. I love that Louisa Harland (Orla) is in the new series Renegade Nell, playing a Highwaywoman.
how did NEITHER of us recognize him???
I WAS HOPING FOR THIS 😭🫶🫶🫶
It’s here🙌
so excited you guys posted these reactions!! i'm irish and i love seeing non-irish people watch this show! (p.s. i grew up with catholics on my mom's side and protestants on my dad's, so i can tell you almost all of the differences between the two that they listed in that first episode are very true lol)
Omg you’re the half Protestant they talked about I guess 😅
Protestants hate ABBA?????
@@shotinsarajevo i said “almost” all the things lol as far as i know protestants love abba 🤞😔
@@trishanakrus oh thank god hahaha (I am not Christian therefore I know not of neither Catholics nor Protestants)
I love Derry Girls. You guys should watch extraordinary. It’s a British sitcom. The main nun from here is the main character mother in that show. She’s just as hilarious
What’s her name???
@@PinkPopcast Siobhán McSweeney.
@@Likeicare96 she’s hilarious!
PPS: I think its adorable when Rizzo starts laughing like a Windex. 😅
Like a WHAT!? 😂
I'll edit a small clip and post it on IG and/or TikTok 😅 @@PinkPopcast
Season 3 too?? possibly??
i’m so happy about this though i have prayed for times like this!!!
like we said, we watched it already on Patreon and hopefully one day it migrates over to this channel!
I am so grateful for S2 reaction! Your reactions are always the best ❤
Speaking of Bridgerton-related sitcoms, Crashing maybe? It's Phoebe Waller-Bridge's sitcom with only 6 episodes and Jonathan Bailey as the most chaotic character you will ever see. Definitely worth watching, even if it'll end up a Patreon exclusive, or not make it into a reaction at all.
Digging Rizzo's mustache and glasses 🤌🏾✨️
This was from a year ago but I can bring it back 🤓
I absolutely *love* Derry Girls! It’s just sooo goddamn funny with just the right amount of heart/emotional moments sprinkled in throughout. (In my opinion anyway! _Obviously._ lol.)
While part of me is hella bummed that it didn’t get, at least, one more, _last,_ season… I’m glad that it didn’t “live” long enough to see itself turned into the villain. lol.
(What I’m trying to say is that, while I’m pretty confident that another season of “Derry Girls” would’ve continued to be straight up fire, you never really know. There’s still an incredibly slim chance that the show may have had some, as they like to say across the pond, _”shite”_ moments/plot lines. Again, I *highly* doubt that would’ve happened, but ya never know!!)
Thus, I’m totally content with what we got!! Even if it did leave everyone (Provided the fact that they have good taste, of course. lol.) wanting more!
Oooo… also, I absolutely *LOVED* all of the *AMAZING* 90s music that they used throughout the series! The soundtrack was _very much so_ the cherry on top of an *INCREDIBLE* sundae!
(So thanks for the reaction, you two!!)
I think three seasons was a good choice. Honestly most English shows I watch usually only have three seasons spread WAAAAY far apart (I loved The IT Crowd). Is it much different for Irish shows? 🤔
42:06 How many people do you think actually know that that song is actually about the troubles? 'Zombie' I mean
I DID NOT! WTF!?
I was genuinely wondering what made them pick that song 😅
@@PinkPopcast yeah, I think the band is Irish. The Cranberries right? I think they also did 'Dream' (the song they played at the beginning and ending of season 1 and at the end of episode 1 of season 2).
Both of you look absolutely stunning as always!
You are so kind☺️
@@PinkPopcastI’m just stating the obvious :p
This show is so adorable, and one of the reasons I was excited to see Nicola Couglan in Bridgeton. I'm glad that her story has been more prominent and now she's getting her own starring narrative!
How long had you been watching Derry Girls before seeing Bridgerton?
I was literally watching your reaction to S1 YESTERDAY, and this came along! Iconic timing if you ask me🎉
Fuggin A!
So excited to watch this, thank you for posting it on here as well!
Also soo excited for Brigerton season 3! It might be the best so far, Nicola is a great actress! Can't wait to see your reaction to it! ❤
She’s hilarious 😂
YESS!!!
I’ve been binging your videos ever since I found you and I adore Derry Girls! So happy you’re watching it!
Yay! Thank you!
Awesome reaction of my favorite episode of Derry Girls!!!!!!😊😊😊😊😊
Which one??? 👀
😮 didn’t know you guys were psychic!!! I had a bad day yesterday and was rewatching season one, so this is such a great surprise. Will wait patiently for season 3 in 2025 🫶🏼
Hahahaha 😂💀
The Christmas cupboard. We were broke in the 90s. Mas would prep for months to have everything in for Christmas. Way too much stuff. Touch it before Christmas day, you died.
I'd really like you guys to react to my big fat greek wedding. It's one of my family's favourite rom-coms since everyone is the exact same as my family, and I think y'all will love it and have a good laugh.
Ooo that's a great idea!
Have i not seen these reactions on youtube yet or am i fucking crazy??😭
No these were a Patreon exclusive but we had brought the 1st season over here a year ago and just uploaded the 2nd season today!
21:28 I don't think they are "gypsies" not anyhow. The people they called 'gypsies' in Europe are actually Romani (not to be confused with Romanians even thought the Romani were used as chattel slavery in Romania for 500 years, they're called Romani because that was their caste (I think that's the word) in India). They were called 'gypsies' because people thought they came from Egypt because of their dark skin tones. Found out a lot about them from this channel, both the videos and the shorts: www.youtube.com/@florida.florian
Irish Travellers are different, heard about them from here: ua-cam.com/video/A0pF1fUaUnE/v-deo.html
Thanks for the information 💖
27:31 I'm still disappointed that we never got to see the Guardians of the Galaxy do the 'Rock the Boat' dance to 'Rock the Boat'.
I CANT BELIEVE THERE IS A DANCE!
I believe the blackboard in ep 1 is preserved in a museum now 😂
NO WAY!!!!
you guys dont understand how happy i am to see your s2 reaction!
We’re happy to see your comment! ❤
51:46 I don't know the finer details, but when I heard that season 3 was confirmed I commented that I thought it was odd because I think the troubles were over because of the ceasefire and I was just assured "It wasn't over"
oh my goshhhh i’m so happy you uploaded this 😭🙏🏽 i love this show sm and also love y’all’s reactions. thank you guys
No thank YOU 🎉
The Come out ye Black and Tans in the intro is iconic.
wait what? 🤔
been waiting for this one a long time
Your wait was not in vain!🎉
📣 attention, people of the comment section! if you love derry girls, you should watch We Are Lady Parts (on channel 4 in uk, Peacock in US) it's so similar in humour and vibe and it's got a great friend group at the heart of it. It's basically about a british muslim female punk band and the music absolutely slaps too!! plus season 2 comes out May 30th so perfect time to get into it really. okay thanks for listening, have a lovely day!
THANK YOU! I've been waiting for so long for you to watch season 2!
🙌🙌
Nice to see you guys preparing for Nicola Coughlan's return to Bridgerton next week with these reactions.
It’ll take about a week after for for us to edit and get it past copyright claims but YES!
Omg YES this is what I needed today. After Eurovision's HUGE mess (still ongoing), and also the election mess (there's elections in my country in two days and I'm exhausted already with everyone, even people on my side of the political spectrum), I needed something to tune out. Even if just for an hour, or until I open social media lol Thank you guys
The differences board is in Ulster Museum in Belfast and I love seeing it whenever I go in. The museum is organised so you start at the top and work your way down and its nice to see at the bottom before heading out
the board of differences between Protestants and Catholics is the funniest thing you don't understand 😂 the accuracy
YESSS i’ve been waiting for this one!! love the channel and derry girls❤
Same and SAME!
Thank you! Derry Gworls🙌🙌
The Irish sass in this show gives me life. Sister Michael is amazing.
i may have to get on patreon this is one of my favs and i would love to see the whole thing
42:51 You never know!
I mean you never know what rooms will be used when you have a Christmas party but you still try to make sure that every room in the house is as clean as you can make it.
Oh i was WAITING!!
“It’s been 84 years”
SO GLAD TO SEE THIS HECK YES

Here it is☺️☺️
Would love to see what you think of Extraordinary on Disney+. I think its great fun :) And love Rizzo with glasses :)
What’s it about? 🤔
@@PinkPopcast it's a comedy set in the world where people develop super powers after they turn 18, except there is one girl who hasn't gained any powers. The powers range from the typical flight stuff to the really mundane and useless. It's better than I'm making it out to be lol
My favorite duo🥰
Yay! Thank you 🎉
It's only been roughly 30 years - sometimes I think half the people have forgotten about the Troubles - and the Irish Civil War and the Irish War of Independence. Or they just don't know about how badly the Irish were treated for years by the English (and from what I've heard, for a little while at least they weren't treated that well when they first moved to America or Australia either).
Great show, loved watching your reaction!!
Thank you ☺️
Absolute exquisite timing. I literally just finished Derry Girls last season like a week ago. It's so insane just how amazing and hilarious that show is.
Soooo gooodd!!!!
ITS HAPPENING! Yea season 2!!

I would love to see you guys do the St Trinnian's movies I feel like you'd get a kick out of them
I feel like my sister used to watch those 😮

You have no idea the amount of chaos that blackboard caused after this episode came out.
yesss almost an hour long 😭🤎🤎
that's why it took so long to edit 😭
