The song was written by the legendary Prince. Also worth reacting to the Chris Cornell (Soundgarden) version of the same song - completely different and so much emotion.
Yes ❤️🔥
🔥🔥🔥😍
If you want feel the full strength of her voice react to "Troy". Very different, but beautiful
Chris Cornell does the best version of this in my opinion.
_This was the kind of music that I listen to growing up, but it was _*_Bone Thugs-N-Harmony_*_ that brought me into _*_hip-hop_*
The tears were real. She was thinking of her recently deceased mother, but a lot of her singing kills you.
“All the flowers that you planted mamma....in the back yard..... all died when you went away”.
she was badly abused by her mother. Still haunts her.
her very strained relationship with her abusive mother was difficult. prob good relationship something a child yearns for but when they can't get it...and apparently her mom didn't believe or support her sex abuse claims either..😞😥
@@12vibaba Yes, as far as I can tell from a distance nothing was straightforward in her life.
@@youtmeme I agree, as I said in the reply above, as far as I can tell from a distance nothing was straightforward in her life (and, of course, many of her comments are ambivalent, ambiguous or downright contradictory).
This girl went thru so much crap in life from an abusive mother to losing her 17 yr old son to suicide just a few days ago. She's got a God level singing voice.
I love her version of this song it is more heartfelt especially because she was pouring out her feeling toward her abusive mom after she passed away in a car accident when Sinéad was 18 years old. This is why Sinead fought hard to put on blast Child Abusers (Her dad also had part in her abuse). She had such a horrible childhood in the hands of very abusive parents. RIP Sweet Angel 😥🙏🦋♥
Strange you reacted to this yesterday. Sinéads youngest son Shane took his life. Only 17 years old, she’s devastated. RIP Shane our thoughts are with your beautiful mother today. Bless her, she’s had her own mental health issues for years to lose Shane I can’t even imagine how she’s going to cope 💔
Yes that was yesterday 8th January, he took his life , very sad
At 17, no one knows what their life will be like at 22. The only way to find out is to live five more years.
Simply Red is another great surprising voice. If you get the chance check out " Holding back The Years" it's one of those " I had no idea he sang that song lol
💯 Absolutely! Mick Hucknall's voice is amazing!!
@@jennhurl plus he can flip them curls 😃
@@jennhurl I'm thinking they would love Terrance Trent D'Arby
Agreed!
Sinead has had a hard life and a rough career but this song is her crowning acheivement as a vocal artist. No one does a better version , in my opinion . :)
RIP
Not even Prince.
RIP to them both. 🕊💔✊🏽
@@77Creation only one that comes even semi close is chris cornell's version. sinead's version is still light years ahead of that
One of those rare occasions where the cover version is better than the original!
Or the cover of the cover- Chris Cornell put a new face on this song, and I've been a fan of both Prince and Sinead since they first recorded.
That's actually not that rare I think people Don realise how many songs are actually covers
@@odochartaighofodonegal9815Nah..love Chris but nah.
I love the fact that Prince wrote such a great song but yet he was so confident in himself that when he saw Sinead O' connor sing and loved her voice, he made the arrangements to offer it to her. and the rest is history.
That's not true where did you hear that story, Prince did not like when other people who weren't his friends cover his song. The only reason Sinead O'Connor was able to cover this song was because Prince's record label Warner Bros. owned the rights to his masters at the time and they approved Sinead O'Connor covering this song. Prince actually wrote this song in 1984 and gave it to a group he started called The Family who's version is the best in my opinion.
@@kaula300 this was said back in the day by Sinead O'Connor
Sinead's 17 year old son died today; he was on suicide watch and somehow got out. Say a prayer for Sinead and her son's safe passage. Prince wrote this song, by the way..
prayers
Yes so very sad
Probly because she abused him all his life because she is a mental fruitloop
Prayers ❤️❤️❤️❤️

Sinead is gone now passed away yesterday - but her Heart & Soul will live forever through her music - RIP Sinead O'Connor..!
This was done in one take. The tears you see are real. Her mother had recently past away.
She sings with meaning ❤
Sinead's son Shane passed away yesterday by suicide!!! May he finally be at peace!!😥😥😥😥 She will forever be my hero!!! Brave woman!!!💜💜💜🎵🎼🎶🥁🎸🎹🎙
Prince released this song back in 1985 and Sinéad done this cover of it in 1990. It's about a break up, but her mother passed away 5 years before so when she sings the part "All the flowers that you planted mama" she starts to tear up and it brings the tears on
R.I.P. to her son who literally passed away on Friday from suicide. Stay blessed. Crazy video drop
Troy is another great song of hers. She wrote it and performed it on her first album.
Chris Cornell covered this song as well. Please react to that one, too. They both do such an amazing job with this song, written by Prince.
Fun Facts:
1- That video was shot at a cemetery.
2- Annie Lennox of Eurythmics can also rock a short hair.
A Prince masterpiece that Sinead made her own💜
RIP Sinead. Thanks for the reaction you 2. The tears were real... here abusive mum died shortly before this shoot.
she was so young, beautiful and had a great voice....but life hit her hard.....😔🙏❤🤞
Beautiful song and more so now RIP Shane 💜
And Sinead doing this live is just plain insane good😎😱
This song omg she sings the hell out of it ❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️
her live version from a concert in chile is amazing
RIP. Sadly, Sinéad O’Connor died July 26th 2023 at the age of 56. She was such a great talent. This is my favorite song by her. Prince wrote it and I love it by him also.
Her seventeen year old son just died 😢 She was always one of my favorite artists. This was written by my favorite Prince 👑
Beautiful Irish songbird
Her live performances of this are a trip also. She makes some suprising sounds w crazy dynamics that you wouldnt think you would like but it really conveys some emotions the ones that can throw you off even though you try to compose yourself irl. If you need some more material to react to, give it a whirl
So sad, R.I.P to your son Sinead who was found dead a day ago. Apparently its suicide at 17 years old and your pleas on social media for him the days before his body was found to not hurt himself and he is loved touch my heart. And then even after he was found your message to young people, please don’t do this, you are loved and worth something
Sinead was on the trajectory to have a big American career and in one act of defiance on SNL she tanked her career. Decades later we now know she was 100percent on the mark and truthful in what she did. A true rock rebel. RIP to her son, recently lost to suicide.
Sinead O'Connor - Nothing Compares 2 U (Live) You need to watch her live. Top ten best performances ever IMO.
If you want to really see her vocal range , check out the song "Troy" by her so amazing!
Beautiful woman. Beautiful soul. Beautiful voice. Putting across emotion is up there with anyone.
And yes she can carry of the skinhead haircut with aplomb. Most women will be the first to admit not many can carry that off like Sinead. :D Don't fret about what you said fella.
It isn't as though you told someone to their face they can't carry it off. :D
As much as I love Prince (or Chris Cornell for that matter), this song belongs to Sinead. Period. Like when Johnny Cash remade NINs ‘Hurt’.
It was that one line "all the flowers that you planted, Momma. In the back yard. All died went you went away"... It reminded her of her father who had died.... They are real tears.
Prince wrote it, Sinead covered it...perfectly. Beautiful, still holds up. ❤👍🏽
Check out Stay by Sugarland. She cries in the video as well.
This beautiful song she sings by Prince for her its about the abuse she suffered and the love she had for abuser which was her mother
This one and Phil Collins "Groovy kind of love" were hitting the waves. 🙂 (1990) 31 years in the making.
Groovy kind of love along with 2 hearts by Phil Collins was used in buster which Phill played buster.and going loco down in Acapulco by the four tops also used in the film.
Prince wrote and released this with his band "The Family" in 1985 with lead singer St. Paul. The Family began after the disintegration of The Time...and Yes, I had the cassette 😁💜 More Sinead "The Emperor's New Clothes" and "The Last Day of Our Acquaintance"
So few current YT reactors to this song notice the tears. And even fewer look up the artist beforehand to educate themselves on the basics. I love you two as you genuinely engage with every song you react to.
She did a song with Richard wright of Pink Floyd called reaching for the rail. Not many know of it but very good
You should check out Sugarland song called Stay. The official video. She really cries in that video. It’s a deep song too. But one worth taking a listen too.
Jennifer Nettles has hella voice!! 🔥
Wow u reacted to 2 of my favourites songs ever in 3 days 😅 in the air and now this 💪🏼
You should check out her interview with Dr Phil about her abuse from her mother. There is def a reason for the tears in the video they were 100% real
This is a song that shouldn’t be interrupted…Its a Prince cover
She's got a great catalog of songs, most very personal and sentimental. Check out 3 babies, the perfect Indian, stretched on your grave, drink before the war, or the special cases
Jackie and Troy are two great Sinead songs.
For such a young girl in 1990, she had such emotional intelligence. She went through a lot. May she rest in peace. Sinead had such an angelic voice.
Pronounced SHIN AID. Great reactions.
This one of those songs you know are really good but also one of those songs that got played way to much on radio that you got fed up with it. I remember when it came out and sometimes it felt like the radio never played anything else. This song should and will go down in history as one of those special moments.
React to the cranberries, zombie please. Think you'll love it
Sinead shaved her head in protest against recording companies choosing pretty girls who could not sing.
The song was written by Prince. She asked him if she could cover it. He said no, so she did it anyway. He was mad, but he had to admit she owned it. I recommend her "Three Babies", and if you think this song is heartbreaking, listen to Three Babies and have the tissue ready. Be prepared, because any song she sings means something personal to her.
I am totally loving re-visiting all my childhood songs with you guys!!!!
An absolute classic ! 1990 good year !
This song was written for her as a gift by prince
Live version is even better. Girl can sing
She was so good in this her name is pronounced shin aid she became a priest
Check out the live version of "Feel so different". Painfully beautiful.
This song was released 2 years after I got with my husband, I say this because I was 14 and he was 15 at the time, how amazing aye. I’m 47 now and he turned 49 a few days ago. We have a grandson who is 17 months old. Got to love the tunes from my past. …… seems like yesterday though, oh and I’m just recovering from an urgent hysterectomy, enjoy your youth guys, try to hold on to it.
You need to hear prince singing this song You guys need to start playing some prince music
Please react to Troy by her ( live 1988 pinkpop ) i think you will like it ❤
That is the ultimate version❤
More real tears - check out Kelly Clarkson's Piece by Piece on the American Idol Farewell show - definitely moving! So enjoy your reactions, guys - thanks and Happy New Year
Great song and great reaction. She is really crying, not fake. She sort of drop off the music scene after being black-listed for tearing up picture of the pope live on SNL. She is beautiful, with beautiful voice and I love everything she sings, she can rip your heart out with her emotive singing.
Love this song and her .
I would LOVE LOVE LOVE for you two to react to Pink's 2010 Grammy performance of glitter in the air. You won't be disappointed I promise!!
🔥🔥🔥😎😍 one of my fav songs! So Kool to see y'all react to it! Great job! 💜🙏
the tear was real. she was thinking of her mom. you want to see real tears, James Blunt, Monsters
She shaved her head because she wanted to be taken as a serious artist she didn't want her beauty to overshadow her art. I seen a video where she was wearing a long wig & she looks prettier with hair. So I can see where she would say that.
You guys would love Gimme Shelter by the rolling stones, it's an all time classic!!!
The song was on the radio when I, the first time heartbreak had and even today I come to tears at the song!
Beautiful lady with stunning voice!
Also, The Lion and the Cobra album is one of the best albums ever
Pronounced “Shenade”. She was incredibly controversial. She could have been a much bigger artist.
Such a beautiful song.
Rip sinead O'Connor🙏🙏
This really is her best song. It was her only big song in America. She had some hits in England and Ireland. There's no more to recommend than this one.
In the Gaelic language when a vowel ''i'' follows a consonant it is pronounced like an ''sh''. So you can pronounce it like this; shă-nāde. And if you like her then give a listen to another firm from Ireland, Enya
Duet version with Prince and Rosie Gaines equally incredible
I always thought Prince's song could not be covered any better than this version by SInead O'Connor........... until I heard Chris Cornell cover it. A must listen.
This is actually a prince song and was performed by him too, so it's a break up song that both women and men can sing/ relate too
Written by Prince for a broken romance. She envisioned singing it to her mum whom she had a hard, difficult relationship with until she grew up and understood what her mum had gone through.
Sinead was a hero at this time. not only cause her music, but his political meaning and her whole attitude. i loved her.
breaks my heart every time... amazing song / video
Yeah, stretched out at your gave is another song of hers where she really shows her voice and emotions.. badass review!!!
Yes! The Apple Brightness mix.
Her career was essentially over once she tore up the picture of the Pope on SNL to protest against the child sex abuse that was rampant within the church at the time and the subsequent coverup of the abuse. Most Americans weren’t aware of the abuse until years later so the backlash that she was “anti-Christian” was immediate after that performance.
Her mental health struggles likely keep her from really performing again, but she’ll forever be an icon for standing up for what is right. Not only did she stand up for the children who were abused by trusted clergy members, she also shaved her head as a big 🖕 to the record execs who objectified her by pressuring her for sex and pushing her to wear skimpy clothing for a more ‘sexy’ image. She made impacts in very significant ways, even at her own peril, and I hope she gets the recognition for it that she deserves.
And now she is dealing with the suicide of her own son. So tragic, R.I.P Shane and Sinead looks and sound truly heartbroken. Around Christmas and New Years has the highest rate of suicides
Rip Sinead who passed today you will be missed 😥😥😥
Also for another song/video where the artist is so obviously heartbroken they cry is Stay by Sugarland. I always get choked up watching how sad she is.
Prince is 🤬 genius!
This song was sung with her thinking of her mother's death and not as first thought about a break-up of her relationship with a guy or girl.
SAMMY HAGAR - I CAN'T DRIVE 55 PLEASE REACT ! 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Y'all are so cute. Love what you're reacting to!
Her name is pronounced Shinade, Irish like myself. An amazing Woman xx
You wanted to hear more Sinead to comment on. Try the Irish folk traditional "Foggy Dew", one version she did, she even collaborated with the Irish folk ban the Chieftains. The song is about a day of battles where the Irish surprised the English occupiers, and killed many of them.
agree with ya about the buzzed hair,, i think she looks best that way
You should listen to Prince's version of his song. You should listen to cream by Prince Little Red Corvette when doves cry his performance at the super bowl the full version also the Hall of Fame induction of George Harrison while My guitar gently weeps Prince was one of the best guitar players in the world most people didn't have a clue
Sinead is pronounced Shi-nayed. Prince wrote the song Nothing Compares 2 U incidentally.
