wow its amazing how much younger everybody looked and how different things were back then.
This is incredible! I would really love a tutorial on how to properly scan in, add, and virtually mold other objects such as a sword or cape. Fantastic tutorial, yet again!
It's so cool seeing you guys respond and interact with your fan base. Also, really cool vid!
This was really great guys! I would love to see a similar tutorial of how to actually drop these 3d models into a video and some sort of beginners guide to animating them. Cheers!
A 3d scan is extremely dense. It's great for static meshes but not so great for animation. You would most likely have to remodel the scanned 3d model and put in the proper edge loops so the model bends and folds in the proper areas.
Another great video! Super impressed to see you actually replying back to peoples comments, and helping them out. Keep it up boys! Keep up the Twitch streams too!
Ended up here now, the production was so cute and genuine. We are all so old now.
That's not an action figure, it's a figurine.
Yeah true
inaction figures

Oh, remember when 3d printers didn't cost 200 bucks?
lol yeah that made me chuckle how serious he said that :D
Am I the only one that thinks Sam kinda looks like Chris Pratt?
Ps great video guys. Keep up the awesome work.
And kinda sounds like him
I can't wait to see where the future of this technology will go. Doing CG frozen time scenes could be really cool.
it would be nice if you showed us the final product.
the start of the video wtf are you blind ... they are holding them
Xenibalt don’t have to be such a dick about it jeez
Corrider crew 8 years ago is crazy!! Who else is rewatching this now? I always wanted to do this but i just now got a 3D printer. You guys should make a updated version of this!! Please! 😢😊
Amazing video guys, very informative and educational. You guys rock!
I find it amusing that the shapeways guys are over here. Having fun advertising?
M Boelter They do great work.
I own a 3d printer, but if it can't do the job Shapeways is the best solution.
They really do amazing work there.
David Mc
I'll probably go over there to print some stuff.
I just find it amusing that a company is placing comments on other peoples youtube videos.

Public relations (PR) is the practice of managing the spread of information between an individual or an organization and the public. Public relations may include an organization or individual gaining exposure to their audiences using topics of public interest and news items that do not require direct payment.
I made my own custom action figure by adding beard and hair to a Reed Richards head on a spider man body. The amazing Spider me.
And you bested us all!
Thanks guys!
+Arthur. Florence your welcome
Impressive indeed! May be worth doing this for printing gun mods for paintball markers, never have I been so proud of watching this channel since the early days, top work lads :)
Action figure usually refers to a small toy that has movement. This is more of a statue.
Alright then, figurine.
Thats true
I like how the way you presented this was like you freestyle it with your own knowledge, comes of really smooth any relaxed. Nice video
thats a nice multicopter frame you got in the background
Is it just me or is 3D printer most epic thing ever!
I once used 123D Catch to make a 3D model, it's an online Autodesk program.
You have to make a lot of pictures of your model and the software makes a 3D model of it. Works great :)
Works too!
I loved this, but i kind of also miss your old style videoes on your main channel! I'm a huge fan!
What a time to be alive.
This just came across my feed. You guys looked so much different back then.
Would love to see the finished, printed figures ::}
We'll be posting them soon :D
samandniko Yay :}
3 years and nothing
5 years and nothing
6 years and nothing
Thanks for the Kinect idea! Did not know it could be used like that. I scanned in my whole house with one. (File size was absolutely giant and took forever to do but it was cool to walk through it in VR)
That sounds so epic!
Can you do a tutorial on shooting/choreographing stunts and action?
Great tutorial as well, this is some very cool stuff that I was unaware of!
awesome video! You win the internet!
If you dont have a kinect you could generate a pointcloud of your body via structure from motion (a series of images from differnet angles) and then generate a mesh out of it! Visual SFM and meshLab are two free tools
How much did those miniature cost in shapeways??
Wow, how cool would it be to have a miniature for myself in D&D that actually looks like me, but as a wizard? This video is awesome, and it actually kinda makes me want to learn more about 3D modeling (because Reconstruct Me is amazing!!! Niko's miniature is Badass, and I'd totally put a spell effect in my character's hand!)
Very cool. I've never been able to get my skanect to scan that clean.
Could you do a video about how you use different angles to create different feelings?a bit like the "shoot your friends series"
In theory, if you stood in the T-pose could this be used to make yourself into a riggable 3D character? Also, does reconstructme capture colour data like skanect or is it a matter of texturing it yourself?
Yes it does. But as mentioned in the vid - it's a little tougher to work with. It spits out .ply files instead of a model with a texture map.
samandniko How many faces did the mesh at 5:39 have in the end? I'm assuming it's extremely high.
Also, I just had a look and reconstruct me is way beyond my price range, so it looks like it's a fevered dream for me for now.
***** or you could look if you can find it for free on different torrent sites. Don't let money stand in the way of computer experience. Just make sure to buy it or a newer version when u can.
Sam and Niko talk about 3D scanning a person and rigging them to do a CG stunt double in the making of video for Fart Attack, it's really good you should check it out
AirBuiscuits, you can use resurface tools such as zbrush to quickly recreate yourself with a good topology using the 3D print.
I'm hoping we get to see the final results of some of these models? I wanna see how the standing cape will look!
awesome shirt man
Absolutely amazing...gonna try make me some crazy action figures ;P
Man you guys are genius. Thanks.
Awesome use of a Kinect. How bad is the mesh topology? Is it unusable for animation? Does the software use a base topological model (like a Z-brush type of model) or is it just a bunch of thrown-together crap? Thanks and great info video!
Generally the models aren't suitable for animation, but if you run them through dynamesh/zbrush or Wrap-it they clean up nicely!
Nice, I'll have to convert my Kinect.
Totally going to do this to make cake toppers for our wedding!
I should give this a go, since I am currently engaged in a 3d modelling and games development course
Very cool , it would be great to see you guys play a roleplaying game with your models ,maybe even with Chris Perkins.
Just you wait!
That's awesome! Now how would one turn this into a 3D model that can be implemented and possibly animated in a film? I would love to be able to scan and animate a 3D model of an actor to be use for intricate action VFX shots! Amazing as usual guys!
Scan yourself in a T-pose and get rigging!
samandniko
Is the mesh clean enough? I'm guessing you would have to do some form of retopology?
samandniko Thanks! You know what, I'm totally doing this. Sad I don't have my Xbox anymore, but I'll buy a Kinect just for this! I wonder if these would work with the Element 3D plug in from Video Copilot? Though maybe I should teach myself actual 3D work and aspire to CorridorDigital visuals.
That's what I love about you guys. Millions of views and subscribers, but you don't cater to your audience so much that you lose your sense of self. You make what you love, bettering yourselves all along the way, but you still stay connected to the audience and help out fellow filmmakers when you can. You're doing it right. I hope one day you can be on the big screen, but maybe corrupt Hollywood doesn't need to mess around with your talent. Keep on going, Sam and Niko!
Just went to the Mini Maker Faire in Chattanooga, Tennessee this past Saturday. I met a bunch really awesome 3D printing companies, including one that printed shoes! Feetz!
I didn't know you could scan with a kinect cam! Do you guys 3D print any props for any of the shows?
Also, if you don't have a Kinect, you can use Autodesk 123D Catch. There are PC, Android and iOS versions of the app so it fits all needs.
This is awesome. I just wish I could have gotten a better look at some of the finished products.
What kind of prices are you getting for the different figures when buying from shape ways?
So cool! Awesome technique to learn, thanks guys!
So how would you take the 3-d model and apply it to film making? like making rag dolls or just scanning objects to have in your shot like a shield flying or a model of a person doing an insane dunk?
Epic family portrait.
Love these type of videos !:)
Great breakdown guys. Thanx a lot :) what would you recommend for an outdoor scanning?
Great video :D
I have a question : what material do you recommend for figurines like that to get the maximum precision with small details ?
For the free Skanect software, what does "File export limited to 5000 faces." mean? Does this mean it's necessary to get the pro for more detail?
MAN Party: Dungeons and Dragons with these 3d pieces?
So if I understand correctly you can use a scanned object or person to import them into after effects also? That is how you did the rag doll animals?
This is fantastic! I can finally put my Kinect to use!
It's the only reason we use ours!
Sweet tshirt Sam. :)
I have heard of reconstructme but any tips on how to make good uv maps for your models?
Something that i would really like to try in the future. Making my own D&D mini's
D & D!!! This would be perfect for that.
so cool guys. Thanks for making this video.
what kind of 3D printer you guys using? is it expensive to print figurines? your work is awesome.
Hey, If I already have access to a 3d Printer, can I still use Skanect to print it? And Also, how big could I make one of these figurines while still retaining the detail? like 4 inches high? or something like that. Also, if I want my figure to stand, could I print it on a little slab, or something? Also where can I get a Kinect for Windows?
Thanks!!
*tall
Awesome Maliwan t-shirt
If anyone is going to the Mall of America anytime soon check out Me3D! Those guys do the same thing except their full color models look way better. Scan only takes 3 seconds!!! Obviously the hand painted miniatures they show here look better but the Me3D guys are great.
Coool, I was wondering, do you happen to know the price?
This is awesome! How much does it all come down to?
and what model printer do you use and does it print in full color?
So reconstruct me does a better job than Scannect? I am literally a month from buying one of these and was going to choose Scannect because they have a free version I could try out. And I did. And I liked it. But I can do modeling... pretty good.
what do you think about the isense iPad 3D scanner for making full color detailed figurines?
Really sweet video! What size or measurements did you use on the bounding box to scan the full body?
Autodesk has an App called 123D Catch that can produce some really nice results!!!
R u still doing competitions?
You guys are awesome!
Thank you, Sam and Niko!
Can you use the free "trial" version of skanect? or will you have to buy it to do this? just wondering.
Can the FREE version of skanect export the model to print on a private 3d printer in a good enough quality?
My school got a 3d printer last year and we are always looking for new things to try! ;D
What if you only need a head sculp for an action figure with a ball joint? Would this work?
does the second program allow you to export the colors/textures too?
watching this 6 years later was curious as I am just getting into 3D printing if this tactic still works
So how much for one of these Sam and Niko figurines? They would sell well on the Corridor market.
this is a relic and should never be taken down lmao
Nice video! Can you guys do the updated version 2021 if it's possible with the same stuff or newer/similar?
Do I have to use a Kinect camera or can I use the PlayStation 4 camera?
Now THIS is awesome! (Having one awesomeness moment after the other right now (watched vghs 8 minutes ago))
Idea:
Why not make a buyable corridor digital game with figures like that? :P
Right!?!
samandniko Yeah! I want to play as barfing wizards!
Yeah...
We want to scan chess-sized pieces that we've sculpted from clay. Too small? Is there an affordable scanner for our project?
Can the new kinect also be used for this ?
I LOVE SAM'S SHIRT
That's really cool. Can you print those in colour already? And what about a 1:1 scale? Maybe in sections or so?
So many possibilities!
Probably in sections cause a 1:1 ratio could be so large
Do you have to use a mine too for the scanning ?
You is the best guys for me. Thanks for the tutorial. I make VFX videos, inspired on you guys. THANKS
U mean u guys are the best for me
cool! I'll have try this when my Micro 3D printer arrives in November (barring any delays).
Is there a way to scan an object of a helmet or hat to print out to use ona 6 inch figure? A
WW2 helmet or a Rebel trooper helmet?(Star Wars-White helmet)?
Added to bucket list
Would like to know the most efficient way to turn a 2D illustration into a 3D figure.
I've actually used Skanect for work. Though I had to use it on a shitty computer that could only capture 0.5 fps and took forever to generate the mesh.
Do the programs and Kinect have ports for the Mac, or is it only PC?
A old video but very easy to follow thank you going to give it a go
So badass!
Huge help guys! I am a 4th grade teacher that has used your video as a sort of bible for my students 3D famous scientists action figure activity. We have hit a wall though. Once I have the image scanned into the Skanect program, how do I export to print. I have the test model added to my sketchfab account but I am unsure how to proceed from there. Will I have to purchase the pro license for Skanect in order to get a printable version of the model?
Can you guys do a tutorial for making rag dolls and animating them? I would love to use them in my videos!
