Thank you Conner, great to see you enjoying such incredible scenery as your backdrop for the retelling of two timeless stories. Stories that ring true even more if you have lived long enough on this multi colored marble floating in a sea of stars. I have been testing this tale in real life for the last 9.33 years, and write you as I am about to cross the finish line. A singular ant who has endured and overcome with the aid of many of my fellow ants who have certainly helped to remove obstacles both big and small. Keep it coming Conner!

I'll never forget your pieces of advice ."Maria, one apple a day ...keeps the doctor away....Maria chocolate is nice but brocolli is healthier...Maria act like an ant....find alternative places to avoid and tackle with the obstacles you find on your way... Not mentioning all your word supports during the COVID pandemic time . I know that I live far far away ...but you were an inspiration for my improvement as a better person and a healthier too. thanks

Great story about persistence. I think this is what I feel when I am writing. Busy, less motivated, lacking a compelling idea, but after persistence, the idea comes, I push myself to write the first sentence, then the first paragraph, then the second. Motivation already started at some point....
    Thank you, Conor

Hi Connor, thank you very much for your video and your reflection. Ants and rivers are persistent no matter what, but humans, endowed with an intellect superior to the rest of nature's creatures and with the freedom to decide, are often not persistent and therefore do not achieve their goals. The difference is that ants and rivers are not tempted to lie down to rest and try to live as well as possible. So your video is much more appreciated as we are humans 🙂. Persistence is key to achievement and success.

The two exemples you ve given are about the exteriors obstacles, what about the interiors obstacles!

Look up "detachment philosophy" or non-attachment. Basically your internal obstacles are there because you're clinging to things, you want success without ever failing, you want to avoid all mistakes, you want endless happiness without ever feeling a hint of sadness, you have fears that you can't let go of or tolerate, you're uncomfortable with the uncertainty of the future, you don't like not having full power or knowledge going through life circumstances, etc.
The way to deal with such internal obstacles is detachment. Not apathy, detachment is fully acknowledging reality for what it is, including how you feel about it, not rejecting it or feeling distress or anger towards it, but still carrying forward and not giving in to despair either. Understand what is within your power and what is not, act on what is within your power and accept what is not. You're human, you lead a human life, you must accept that life is never without uncertainty and that there's always things outside of our control, you would be some sort of god if that wasn't the case.
That is how every great human has done their great deeds, they knew much was outside of their control, but they also knew not to fall apart in despair at that knowledge, instead they believe that the power in their hands, no matter how small in the moment, is something to hold on to and live by.
Read Marcus Aurelius's "Meditations" if you haven't yet, he was an emperor of Rome, and that book was literally just his diary lol it was not meant to be published, he probably would die again out of pure mortification if he knew the whole world is reading his encouraging words to himself. But when you read it you see that even such great people throughout history had the same fears as the rest of us, the same internal obstacles, the same worries and obsessions. We humans are more alike than we tend to think.

Good question... and perhaps the only really important obstacles in most of our lives are the interior obstacles.
