Thank you Sir. Couldn't be better put. Taking a walk has been a great stabilizer for me when I am anxious. 7 years ago I almost gave up something special because of stress, but after a long walk, I settled my thoughts and decided to hold on, and today, it's the most beautiful blessing of my life. Thanks Conor

Years ago I think I heard Tony Robbins talking about "strategic recipes" - and what he meant was a process that guaranteed to put you in a positive, abundant, grateful, curious state - and some of my recipes are walking, exercise, listening (and playing) to music...

    1, get body moving

For me, #1 and #3 clearly work. #2 not so much. When I'm struggling and I think of others who matter to me and what they would expect from me (sons, wife, parents, friends...) I become absolutely terrified and the pressure makes me feel paralyzed, making the situation worse. But I guess everyone is different and others can find the right amount of motivation and inspiration.

#2 for me is being of service - unconditionally and not thinking of payback …it fosters without necessarily wishing it expressly - you get the surplus credit or good karma… which matters most… and then this action generates positive reaction from unexpected places.

@@joseluishuertasfernandez4892 I totally get you about #2. Ask God’s help, talk to God about your concerns. God is bigger than the pressures and situations and problems. Do your best and God can do the rest. If you feel you fail and still short, talk to God about your concerns and the unconscious will work for you but the power of the Holy Spirit to work in your life. Ask the Holy Spirit to fill you with what’s lacking; if it’s energy, low or crushed spirit… He will provide for those that are needed. The Word of God will also help you supply to have a renewed mind, energy and strength. Jeremiah 29:11 “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future”.

Yes, number 2 for me is engaging in acts of service. Not necessarily for your family, but in general.
When you are down, or confused, go and do something positive for others.

    • @Onthe9thlife3730
      @Onthe9thlife3730 13 днів тому +2

Yeah number 2 only works for people that were "takers" in terms of the give/take dynamics.
If you're naturally a giver or were made one as a coping mechanism from traumatic experiences then it's useless.

Going for a walk! I remember the documentary of Laura Ashley, the fashion designer from the 70's, together with her husband, whenever they felt stuck in their business, they always went for a long walk together and worked out what to do. Something about walking, it brings new ideas and perspective.

Very true Conor! Moving was a big one for me, I suffered from depression for many years, and I took that first step and started exercising half an hour a day, within a few days, I felt so much better. The worst thing someone can do when they are stressed, lost and depressed is not move! staying where they are and letting their thoughts take over them. One needs to break this cycle and start, no amount of medication cured me, in fact, it made me feel worse, thank you for sharing.

#2 is a little difficult for me at the moment because my pendulum swung too far in the taking care of others category. For the first time in my 41 years of life, I’m finally able to focus on myself and what I want instead of putting all my time, effort, and energy into others. It’s time to choose me. So instead of other- I need to focus more on self.

Writing is like counselling. The mess in your head has to be filtered into a topic in order to write about it. The mess in our head prevents us from living happily. If we try to tackle a single issue to remove some of the weight on our shoulders, another issue screams ‘WHAT ABOUT ME?’, and others join in. Counselling is about allowing this mess to emerge, writing forces the person, or rather, gives them space and purpose in order to allow their issues to emerge.

What works like a charm is "if you think I'm qualified, I would love this job". Said at the end of the interview. Especially if you know you are someone who comes across as arrogant, dominant, bossy, or intimidating to people in general. And you will know you are that person because you would have heard that throughout your life. Not that you are but you can come across that way. This line softens your persona, calms the person down, and gives them the power. They will love you for it.

I like to remind people that it is ok to pray for yourself. So many people think that is is selfish, no but it is not. When on a plane and they are giving the instructions for lifesaving measures, the tell us to put your oxygen mask on first then help others! That’s what counts is to put yourself first. One Bible commandment summed up in the New Testament is: Love others as you love yourself… You have to love yourself before you can love anyone else. ❤️

Being in good spot yourself enables you to think of others.
You talk about this lonely world. Perhaps looking after yourself will alter or even improve you so that you'll find someone to end that loneliness.
That happened to me back 2019. I identified (forced myself to move even it was difficult) and wrote down the three main reasons that made my life very difficult and me unhappy, if not depressed.
Once I isolated those three reasons, I made concrete action plan to resolve those problems, and change those things.
Today I am rather content, and deeply love my Partner that I found as a result of changing some things in my life. I did not actively look for her, but our union was a result of me trying to improve myself and my situation. She gives me constant inspiration, clarity and strength to do more (thinking of others).
