Repeat steps 1-27 to move to the next snare sound. There are 4000 snare sounds. There is no back button…”

      Id say so. Its logical enough and with an instrument like this, you're supposed to not only learn it, but know it, and produce music with it as an alternative or complement to your daw. If it was way simpler it would also not be able to have the full beat production capability. Also don't underestimate that the buttons and knobs are in the same place at all times with a somewhat linear workflow, that means you can learn it to muscle memory and in a tactile way. In a daw you rarely can rarely get to that seamless integration between brain/intention/execution.

    I was just about done with TE with the direction they were going..selling their gear at scalper prices. A tiny mixer and a tape player with a jog wheel at nearly $1500..but this sampler at this price point..amazing. This thing is gorgeous

      Seems like a direct SP-404 competitor, with better workflow and lower price... I really don't know why they don't make these kinda products all the time.
      (Although WAY less sample memory, just 20 seconds, apparently, which certainly isn't enough to sample a whole bunch of loops to use for a live set, if that's what you need.)

    • @truecuckoo
      @truecuckoo  6 місяців тому +112

      The field series is a no compromise project. The majority of parts are custom designed, and manufactured at insane precision with no tolerance for deviation. It’s a relatively small company, so they can’t develop that many projects at the same time. They likely had to focus on finishing the field system before they could start focusing on the EP-133 and other projects.

    • @DigitalDZ7
      @DigitalDZ7 6 місяців тому +8

      @@RegebroRepairs The workflow definitely looks faster and more intuitive than the sp404...but I absolutely love my 404mk2. Probably my favorite piece of gear. To me the mk2 leaves the others in the SP series in the dust as far as functionality and capability..but the appeal of this sampler I think is its price point and intuitive workflow and ease of use..and it looks absolutely amazing. It's a beautiful piece of gear.

      @@truecuckoo Well, I'm looking at this from a consumer/amateur musician standpoint as opposed to a pro musician or content creator. I think most people started going down the Teenage Engineering rabbit hole with the pocket operators, which are powerful and extremely fun at a sub $100 price point. When I bought an op1 new , it was $769 after a slight discount. The 30% increase in price for the op1 and the over 100% increase in price from the original op1 to the op1 field, to me, just doesn't seem justified..regardless of the nuances of product manufacturing.

    I honestly couldn't believe the $299 price tag when I saw it. I have an op-z that I love and have owned several different POs (including the KO) and generally like TE's stuff. That being said, the recent run of 'field' products and some of the other stuff they've been doing (ob4, the choir thing) just have not done anything for me at all. Price is one part of it, but there's just something about the VIBE of these new things that I haven't been into. I feel COMPLETELY differently about this. This is an instant buy for me. Love it.
