We went to a neat Cherokee village called Oconaluftee Indian Village in Cherokee, NC. If you ever have a chance to go there, definitely do it! Fun stuff we learned. The Cherokee didn’t live in teepees! They built houses! Also, funny fact...if a man made the wife mad and she didn’t want him anymore, she would leave his shoes outside by the door. Then he’d have to moved back in with his mom. We thought that was kind of hilarious. It was such an informative place to learn about the Cherokee! Also, the guy that did the tour said that the Cherokee actually accepted the Christian beliefs because they already believed there was on god so Christianity aligned with their beliefs.

Thank you so much for posting this video! I've been so curious about the history curriculum, but since I went to public school, I learned history from a secular perspective, and I've been trying to wrap my head around how history is taught from a Christian/religious perspective. This has really helped me to hear/see/understand. Thank you for sharing!

We have loved history 1 this year and it was fun to see how things roll at your house. We alternate our read aloud as well. We did love Boy of the Pyramids and The Three Gold Doubloons that were recommended for history 1.

Thank you for doing a whole lesson in "real time". I've been bouncing back and forth with a literature based and project based history program the last 3 years, but I think after seeing all your videos over many years we might try TGTB for history this next year. Love your videos Ashlee!

Thank You for this. I purchased TGATB for use starting in summer- our next year. This gives me a sneak preview of what to expect. I agree with what you said here. We used a very advanced program for 1 and 2nd. Part of the reason we switched by grade 3 was that the history was way too much and it was woven in such a way that you couldn’t really take it out. Everything was built around it. It also moved sooooo slow so I love that this isn’t one time period only!

Loved this live lesson! My husband is half Creek and registered with his tribe. My girls love learning about their native side! Their registration cards have the percentage of “native blood” they have based on the records from the Dawes Roll. Interesting stuff!!

Love this! We just finished TGTB History 2 last week. We are taking a month off of history then doing Notgrass 50 states, then will continue on to TGTB History 3! I love their history curriculum and feel like I can repeat the cycle of 1 through 4 again and the kids will pull different things from it later. So, we may do that as my kids are 1st and 3rd grade currently, but we shall see.

I love this. We are doing the Year 1 History and I am loving learning along with my children. I love the audio story as much as they do. We are trying to decide if we are going to continue to homeschool next year. This first year has not been easy. If we do we will be going into year 2.

I loved watching how you do history with your family. Your children sit snd listen so nicely at the table. We are using TGATB History year one this year. It is working very well for my fifth grader. But for my 1st and preschooler, they do not have the attention span to sit that long for the reading. I’ve been breaking it into 2 parts, and giving them a snack or something to occupy their hands while I read. Im learning as much from the lessons as they are and I’m loving it! I also find a lot of it to be relevant to what our country is going through at this time.

We just started using TGATB history this year (2nd year of homeschooling). We alternate a history unit and a science unit and focus on those a few days a week with Friday being "Fun Fridays." My kids and I all love how the units vary on subject/time period. It really keeps it interesting for all of us. I've been surprised at how much the kids (even my 1st grader) have remembered from our history lessons as it has come up in other random conversations, when watching a movie/reading a book/etc. The kids also really enjoy the audio portion of the lessons. Thanks for sharing your thoughts on how all people can do things that are good or bad--- that no one group is inherently either good or bad. I think that's a really important conversation to have when discussing historical events. Thanks for your video!

I have a 12 month old who I am wanting to homeschool, I’m sure we will be judged for choosing this route from our family and friends so it’s encouraging to see other moms homeschooling so well.
I know my baby is still so young, but I am wondering if you have any resources or recommendations to start teaching a young toddler.
    Thanks in advance ☺️

This looked very interactive like TGATB science. Would you say most history lessons are like that? You read some, and there are some sorts of activities interspersed?? I recently compared the Gather Round science unit to TGATB and that’s one big difference I saw there also. TGATB science is so interactive throughout EVERY lesson. My kids LOVE that!

So many questions...since the Year 1 History doesnt have a book pack (which I kinda want) is it fine to just buy Year 2 and start there? I've never considered TGTB for History but I love the LA so it's worth a look. We liked Masterbooks this year but it was way too basic. I'm guessing the audio clips relate to what you're studying? How long are those clips? My house is loud-with daycare kids so I don't want anything too long. Do you like the books that you've read so far for the Years you've used? How many pgs would you guess are in the student explorers so I can kinda figure how many sheets I'm gonna have to print to begin with? Thank you for this great video!

I know your daughter is a little older but I'm not sure how old. Wondering if you are using this or planning to use it for high school and if so, how do you plan to get a credit that counts as each of the histories most colleges look for (world history, u.s. history, u.s. government) if it is all mixed together.

Where does TGAB begin history? In the Garden of Eden or the Fertile Crescent? Are Biblical historical figures such as Abraham, Noah, or Paul discussed? Is church history - Protestant vs Catholics and the beginning of denomiations taught? What about LDS history and Joseph Smith?

Something to help you is to buy in off season. When school starts back or when it gets closer to school time it sells out faster. If you can purchase in the off season like January and February your more likely to find what you need. ❤ just a thought to try and help.
