    Notgrass has pdf checklists available of the assignments from the end of each lesson on their printables page. It’s super helpful for keeping track of which assignments were to be completed with each lesson when you’re reviewing what your student finished.

    Notgrass has an online component and has printable maps, videos, ect. listed by lessons and is quite handy.

      For every subject? I haven’t seen that. I asked if we could use some of their podcast resources with the same chapter titles and was told those were for in addition to the reading instead of in place of… 🤔

      Notgrass has audio books for the junior high world history, From Adam to Us and for the high school American History books. They do not have audio books for any of the others yet.

    We like Notgrass a lot. Haven’t done generations yet. We split Notgrass into two years. Very nice

    We have been using Notgrass for the last 4 years and my kids absolutely love them. I also really feel that they retain what they are learning.

    Thank you for this insightful review. Honestly, as I continue with homeschooling and become more and more of a collector of homeschool curriulum, I just find myself using bits of different ones to get my desired result. Just giving myself permission to do that without feeling guilty for not completely using only one curriculum has been the most challenging part for me. I currntly pull from Abeka, Memoria Press, Tuttle Twins, The Good and the Beautiful, and just added Notgrass to pull from for American History - in addition to other supplements That's not counting what all I have going on for what I call "Ancient History." All for my one student, a 4th grader. I am aware I have a problem. BUT! Just the other day, completely unpromted, she said in the middle of our history time, "I think history is one of my favorite subjects. At least, the way we do it." 😭❤️

    I am using Generations History of the World this year for my 9th grade son. It's split up into two semesters. It's only 1 credit. I've been reading the textbook this summer and it has been awesome. I'm so excited to get started with this.

    I love this type of versus videos. I do love the freedom Notgrass gives me. I don't like curriculum with schedules. We did Masterbooks science this past year, and we ditched the schedule after a month.

    Thank you for sharing. We are using Notgrass America the Beautiful and enjoy it. I split each lesson into 2 days, 1st day we read the textbook portion and the 2nd day we do the activities we choose that are listed at the end of the lesson. Doing it this way will definitely make it last for 2 years. I actually love curriculum that doesn’t require a teacher’s manual so that’s a plus for me, but I would say the Answer key is a type of teacher book. I am interested in Generations as well and I’m considering purchasing just the kids providential (history) series books and using them as read alouds for church history.

    So helpful, thank you! We are in our fifth year with my father‘s world, my children will be in “preschool” (aka tagging along :)), 1st, 2nd and 4th. we are doing their new world changers curriculum. But after that, I think I’m ready to switch over to notgrass and/or generations. I like that everything is more centralized in a couple of books, and the illustrations are just so beautiful! Exploring countries and cultures from MFW was fun, but the next few levels feel too heavy and lackluster for my younger grades. We really want to enjoy a family style curriculum so thanks for explaining that idea. Praying about this switch, and I really felt equipped by your review.

    do you feel like generations covers enough/in depth? I was just introduced to this curr. and love that it is Biblically based.
    could you do a comparison of generations history with Master books? Thanks so much for sharing this information. you are definitely appreciated in the homeschool community!

    Do you have a video on military homeschooling tips? USAF family here and my eldest is going into 6th grade next year. Your comment about a cover school got me thinking if I need to do anything more as a military family and a homeschooling family that I’m not aware of. Thanks!

      I suggest you join HSLDA so you can stay in the know on the legal aspects. When you move, the laws in each state can differ. As a good practice I just kept track of attendance, curriculum, work for a portfolio, testing scores, etc. I had to research each state to make sure we were in compliance by filing a letter of intent or other.

    Which one would you recommend for a freshman boy who doesn't enjoy reading? I currently have purchased Exploring World Geography from Notgrass, (this will be our first year with Notgrass). But I do not feel stuck because I bought it. I am willing to purchase whatever will work for my children. What are your thoughts? And thank you for all your videos, they are very helpful.

    How do they differ from a project perspective? Is one more project heavy than the other?

    • @mandy-maltz
      @mandy-maltz  11 місяців тому

      Now that, I'm not sure. It may differ on each specific curriculum. Generations has optional projects on Fridays for many different history curriculums. We really enjoyed those!

    Does generations have a slant to their personal theology/doctrine within their history curriculums?

    • @mandy-maltz
      @mandy-maltz  9 місяців тому +1

      I'm not exactly sure what you mean by that. They hold to a Biblical view of Scripture throughout each book.

    • @homeschool.pray.repeat
      @homeschool.pray.repeat 9 місяців тому +1

      @@mandy-maltz for example, Notgrass doesn’t promote a certain confession of faith other than Jesus died for our sins and they do not have a personal statement of faith other than that also. Where as Generations is created by someone who professes the Calvanist doctrine. I really like how Generations looks, but I’m not sure if they teach their doctrine or keep it more generalized like Notgrass.

    • @mandy-maltz
      @mandy-maltz  9 місяців тому +1

      they teach Biblical Christianity. They have a statement of faith on their website, I'd start there and if you have more specific questions, I'd head over to their email and ask them. I'm sure they'd be happy to answer questions. @@homeschool.pray.repeat
