I’m super interested to know how this worked out. We combine Notgrass and Sonlight, but as more littles have joined we’re also mixing in BFB. I’m doing the same thing with all three right curriculums right now so this is ready encouraging.
I would say it's going well, but some adaptations to make it work best for us. First of all, we love all the Bookshark readers... so we definitely do that. Secondly, I think I'm defaulting to the BFB books for the general history. We only occasionally are adding in the main history from BK. Then, Sonlight, we are still working through the Bible reading and I will add in the Sonlight reading whenever we get to that part. I think next time, I'm going to plan on having BFB as my mine, while adding the BKSK or Sonlight readers.
This is encouraging to see how you can combine. We have been using Sonlight B and C the last 2 years, but for next year I want to move to Beautiful Feet primary Early American History and add some of the Sonlight D books I got during the Warehouse sale. I really want to appeal to my 7 year old but also cover some of the Sonlight books for my 10 year old.
I’ve decided that I prefer the Beautiful Feet Books for my portion with them, but I love all the Sonlight readers for my kids. So, generally that’s what I do. I add in a BkSK History book with my kids once in a while, but it’s been rare. Mostly using the BFB as my spine.
So, if you want to see what my younger 2 student are reading (4th and 5th grade, but more of an upper 3rd grade level) that video is here: ua-cam.com/video/ffc1NbjXnHs/v-deo.html For my older 2 (more of a 4th and 5th grade reader), this is what they are reading this year: ua-cam.com/video/Ynug85SKHR0/v-deo.html
Question: it looked like you pulled out several days from Bookshark D and E that were just the Landmark spine book, is that true? Is there days on end in Bookshark that are just reading from those Landmark textbooks?
@@CalmintheChaosHomeschool That really is a significant amount. Interesting. I’m planning on combining Sonlight D and Beautiful Feet Early American History for Advanced Intermediate grades in the 2023-2024 school year (next year is the Middle Ages). I have the teacher’s manual for Beautiful Feet, but I don’t have the Sonlight teacher’s guide yet (hoping to find one used since I have found most of the books second hand already or at least most of the books that I want to use).
@@Clothmom1 yes… when I was counting those up, I was surprised… but I guess that is a good thing since I’m combining and I don’t want to take more than a year!
I think that I should definitely make a video on all the books. The list is quite extensive. Thank you for asking. I’ll stick it on my recording schedule.
You can only buy the guides and purchase the books elsewhere new, used, or from the library. You can pick and choose which ones you want to include etc. Or you could just purchase the books from the company or elsewhere if you just like the books! The lists of the books included are on each company sites.
I love how you separate them into units!!! This looks confusing!!! We prefer living books to textbooks!!! Combing curriculum looks awesome but it would take longer!!! I’d make tons of notes!!! I make tons of checklists!!!
This is so helpful, thanks!
I'm still pretty much organizing like this, but I have found myself skipping a few redundant areas. But it does help to have them all lined up.
This is so great thanks for sharing
Hope it’s helpful! I just added something new to my history… really… can’t stop. I’m sure I’ll be making a video about it sometime :)
You are awesome! What a cool way to combine two amazing curriculums!
Thank you!
Hi, I’m going to be combining Sonlight D&E with Beautiful Feet! I’m so excited to get started! ☺️
Thank you for the ideas on how to combine them!
Fun! We will be doing so much of the same things!
Appreciate you sharing this process! I’m going to watch a few times to glean from you! Seems like you have a system that works
Awe… thank you! Glad it’s helpful!
Can’t wait!

Could you share your combined list of Readers you used? This is super helpful!

Ooo I was thinking about doing this with world history and around the world! Now I feel less crazy, since I’m not the only one 😂😂
😂 That's what I'm here for! Making other "crazy" homeschool moms feel a little less "crazy"! It's OK that we are like this! Someone has to do it!
Hahah yes 😂🙌🏼
Have you ever combined two curriculums before? What did you do? How did it go?
Question: it looked like you pulled out several days from Bookshark D and E that were just the Landmark spine book, is that true? Is there days on end in Bookshark that are just reading from those Landmark textbooks?
Yes, I just counted and there are 87 days where the landmark books are the main history reading. So, out of 144 scheduled days, that is significant.

Would you be willing to share the list of readers you’ve picked out for your girls? That list is fantastic!

@@CalmintheChaosHomeschool thank you. A lot of the books do look good.
You are so organized.
Thank you. I can be, in SOME areas of my life :) I guess homeschooling is just one of those areas.

Combining curriculum definitely takes longer :) But I like the challenge! Thanks for watching!
