Thank you so much for testing the UK Owatrol, I felt the Ausi Floetrol was the missing link to my painting disasters. Now I know I was just mixing my Owatrol and paints all wrong. I just love everything that you do but especially thank you for helping and educating us here in the UK. 😘

This was such an interesting video Kanella. I live in the UK and can easily get Owetrol but the others are extremely expensive to buy. I always thought the Owetrol was a really inferior product but you proved that it can really produce a good piece of art. Thank you and I will keep practicing x

Thank you for doing this Kanella ❤️ I’m so glad that the Aus one turned out the way it did lol, I’ve done so many scrapes until I just decided on paint & water for Dutch pours! I think I’ll try the glue & water pm just to see otherwise it will be a costly exercise, again thanks for taking the time to do this ❤️🇦🇺❤️

OOOHHH Kanella, I have to send you a HUGE THANK YOU from Acrylic pour painters everywhere. This was an amazing and informative video. What a sacrifice you made spending so many hours experimenting and searching till you found the answers... Again Thank you.
The paintings are of course amazing. Honestly I can't tell you which one I like best because the more I looked at them, I'd change my mind. So I can't give you enough praise. Go get something to eat, love on your family and get some well deserved rest.

Thank you so much for the demo Kanella. As an Aussie, I have been waiting with bated breath to see your ratios for the Aussie flo. I was so interested to see that you added no water to the flo, as I find I can’t seem to push it around on my canvas without some H2O in my mix. Will go back and try again. I also try adding no flo to a few colours to reduce that abundance of cells. Thanks for all the time you take to teach us what you know and learn xx

Amsterdam paint and Australian Floetrol is what is used as a cell activator which you used as your base so I think this is why you got an excessive amount of cells. We don't normally use Amsterdam as our base here as it is too expensive. Us Aussies have trouble with mixing ratios because our Floetrol is like water compared to yours so we get a different result if we try to follow your videos. This has helped many of us see why we have these paint mixing issues so a huge thank you from down under.

Kanella, this is a great video. In addition to the obvious differences in the floetrol, the biggest take away for me is the importance with knowing the consistency to be able to predict the results. You are definitely on the top of your game!!! Keep the videos coming, I’ll keep watching. Sending ❤️

Hi Freda ! Owatrol can be found on Amazon $24.95 for 2.5L, also I saw it somewhere recently when I went to get US Floetrol but I don't remember if it was Home Depot, Lowes, Aubuchons.... I know it was a hardware store 🤣 but that's all I got!! It is a bit more pricey than US Floetrol but way cheaper than Aus Floetrol with shipping !! And appears to be worth it!! Good luck!

🤣 Kanella, I was watching on my other UA-cam account (my main one) and my battery died!! So charging it and switched over to my secondary account. Now I'm afraid to fast forward 🤣 But I must say, you are so generous with your time and knowledge and essentially are giving us all a free very high level tutorial. I have massive respect for you Kanella!!
My favorite is 1) American floetrol, 2) owetrol then 3) the Aus floetrol. The Aus looks like a gorgeous blown out bloom. Owetrol somewhere in middle of it and NA Floetrol.

Ok this may seem like a really silly question so apologies first but if Owatrol is the thickest consistency why do you use more water (in the base) than you do the US Flood Floetrol 🤔 I’ve yet to open mine till I’m ready to paint and there are so many recipes it’s sending me dizzy 😵‍💫 I’ve seen another UA-camr use 2 part Owatrol and 1.5 parts water so I’m extremely confused lol. Love your channel btw you’re an amazing artist. 🙌💪🏻

Love your videos: I learn so much need-to-know information. Thank you for contributing to my sanity and serenity -- what I seek in creative endeavors. It's fun to mix, but it is time consuming. I put my cups into self-sealing, labeled food bags in between pouring sessions. They keep a long time.
I'm still practicing pouring on watercolor paper, cardboard and tiles as I learn various techniques.
I have a hard time using craft paints (matte, chalky, like tempura). I started my fluid journey 40 yoa with oils. So, thick, highly pigmented paints and gels/mediums/additives are my mad scientist default/preference. LoL
BTW:When you use it, which MinWax Pre-Stain Wood Conditioner do you use: Oil based or the water-based? I seem to recall the can you held up in the video was maroon pint? Or quart? Which is the oil-based. I'm curious as I would like to use it for the cells, if I recall correctly, it generates, but I can't take a putrid odor. Any thoughts would be appreciated. No rush! (Tammy Anderson used it in one of her recipes, and I also recall a maroon can.)
Love what you did with these 3 pieces. Do you live in an area where the water is hard, etc.? I do and learned early in pouring to only use distilled, cold water in recipes, cleaning tools, etc. etc I ask because I wonder what impact, if any, the water quality has in causing different pouring outcomes by country, by regions, etc. PH levels do factor in the chemistry of pouring. That much I learned in art history classes.
Doggy Day Care -- salvation for loving dog owners! My little guy, a very alpha Lhasa Apso arrived at day care only to find a new dog, a rescue Akida, who wanted to bully him. LoL Small, 13#, but mighty -- my dog wasn't having it. On the 3rd bullying attempt, my dog turned around and gave Mr. Akida a piece of his mind, at which point they were separated.

With the different effects, I wouldn't mix the floetrol, but what do you think? The Aussie and Olle possibly. You know if you have paint left over, or premade bottles and what not that could be doable. My favorite is the Olle.(ollie) I'm calling it that. I feel it deserves a nickname too.

I'm so glad to hear you say you like the American Floetrol best. It's the only one I use, and for the same reason. I like the soft edges and colors, and not an overwhelming amount of cells. I personally don't like a lot of cells. I like the subtle look. To many cells, and large cells just take over a painting and makes it look yucky. Thank you for the demo. It was interesting and helpful.

Wow, this video is amazeballs. So much detail and so valuable to someone like myself who is literally just starting out. I think I’ve done 3 paintings so far and really struggling with paint consistency. You have no idea how appreciative I am of you giving up the best part of your day to make such a helpful video. I love what you said in the beginning. As a viewer watching any video, I find it very frustrating when people ask questions that have clearly already been answered. You were polite but direct, love it!
I’m in the UK and used Owatrol for the first time yesterday. Luckily mine wasn’t clumpy at all and went through the strainer pretty quickly. However, I let my paint sit for a bit and when I poured they had thickened up to much but I was scared to add more water. I used 40g floetrol, 20g paint, 10g water. This clearly wasn’t right...back to the drawing! Thank you again. Ps, I love your studio :)

It’s so good to know I was not going mad or just downright silly as I tried so hard to follow your recipe and was just never really happy with the results I was getting with our Australian Floetrol. Watching you video I think your Australian recipe wil be good but will be next used with similar colours in various tones with less contrasting colours and might help soften the overall results a bit. Anyway one again thank you so much and I look forward to some time off work soon to give it a go myself. ❤️❤️❤️❤️😍😍😍😍

I couldn't understand why my attempts were so different and with this fabulous experiment it's given me confidence to carry on after so many unsuccessful hiccups due to using owatrol and its consistency difference. Love all the videos and thanks once again x

Because I have Aussie Floetrol here in NZ I’m going to try playing around with ratios, starting with 1:1:1 Floetrol:paint:water to reduce the cell activity while maintaining the thin consistency and see how that goes.

Wow dear Kanella, thank you sooo much for all your hard work and efforts in experimenting and sharing the results with us. I really appreciate it. My favorite is still the first one with Flood Floetrol mix 😉

Aussi flo shouldn't be too thin. There was a bad batch going that was like water. I had one and returned it for a new one. I wonder if you got a bad one.

I like the Owetrol best. It is so pretty! I like that it is different. Now maybe you can make a video testing different combinations of the Floetrol? Us Flo and Aussie, Us Flo and the Owetrol. Aussie and Owetrol?... Just kidding! This was a great video and very instructive. Thank you!

Thank you so much for doing this for everyone, the results are really interesting, all pretty in their own ways. The Flood floetrol certainly produces softer edges. I use Owatrol and I’m really happy with your results. I’m so glad you used Amsterdam and not Artist Loft white. I’m off to order some scales, I eyeball everything 🤦‍♀️. You’ve worked so hard producing all this, hope you know how much it’s appreciated. ❤️

    Great work K!
I like the 3 of them together. Comparison Art! Think you used less gold in 🇨🇦/🇱🇷 Floetrol. Do it again without worrying about using too much. Think the added shimmer will be a welcomed addition. ❤
When you decided which painting you liked best, did the cost enter your decision?
Each offers a particular look. Softer/Bolder edges, lacing. You have provided useful information. ❤
Thank you for your efforts. You are an excellent teacher. 🍎

Yes. There are a few artists out there who don’t like to share the ‘how to’ or materials they use. To each their own I guess 🤷🏻‍♀️
I share everything and anything I can. That’s why I have this channel. To share my knowledge and help others.

Wow! Thank you for taking all the time to work on this presentation. I’ve been wondering what the difference is for all the “floetrols”. Now it is so clear. Different looks for different types of projects! I prefer not to have too many cells since to me they resemble intestines! Lol. You just can’t unsee it once you see it! Others say caterpillars, so I realize I won’t be buying too much from the Australian floetrol except for the centers of flowers as activators as Sharmin does in Milkyway. This hobby can get so expensive and it helps to know what works best for the designs I want to make.. I hope you got some food and lifted your feet for a while after working so hard to be a blessing to so many who needed this video! Heartfelt thanks!

Thank you so much for doing this test Kanella. I have all of these Floetrols, but only use the US for all but the blooms. The Owatrol just kind of sets there and now I know that I can use it to get a different effect, which I still like, just not as much as the US/Canadian Floetrol. This is so much help!! All are still beautiful in their own way. You're the bomb!!!

Hi Kanella, I’m a beginner not confident yet to post my paintings ☺️I have watched this video 2 times and searched for Australian floetrol to do blooms. Here in Belgium (Europe) it costs 81 USD for 500ml!! Pfff for a starting “artist” that’s a lot. But now that I see your result with owatrol i’m going to experiment with it. Thank you so much for sharing and explaining all you’re stuff 😁❤️
