- If the canvas roof top of a convertible comes off the rear glass window, a prompt repair is essential.
Here I documented the process from selecting the adhesive to the finished re-gluing.
Wenn sich bei einem Cabrio die Verklebung des Stoffdachs von der Glas-Heckscheibe löst, ist eine zeitnahe Reparatur unumgänglich.
Hier habe ich den Prozess von der Klebstoffauswahl bis zur Neuverklebung dokumentiert.

Actually, people like you were my motivation when I decided to walk the extra mile and document the repair process. I am happy that you liked it & that you took the effort to place a comment. You made my day, mate.
As for “more videos” - well, maybe something entirely different to come up: today I will sign a contract for a 100 years old Japanese farmhouse. Not sure to what extent I’ll be able to maintain a similar quality level, nevertheless currently considering to film the renovation as well.

Bei mir lösen sich (Golf 6 Cabrio) leider unten nach 12 Jahren auch langsam die Ecken. Hab nun auch das Set von Cabriodoc bestellt - was mir richtig geholfen hat, war u.a., vorab zu sehen wie genau das mit dem "Abkratzen des alten Klebstoffs" funktioniert.

Thanks for the video, I did the same for my audi tt convertible, unfortunately 1 year later I found myself ordering from ebay, glass and fabric adhesion need to be done at high temperature, this factory error cost me 1500 dollars :)

Hello, this is a super video, I have a 2010 Audi A5 Cabrio, where the rear window has losen from the fabric, i will follow your instructions, and buy the kit, i hope i can make it work as nice as you did. I think i have the difficult situation where the fabric has to be glued in both the fabric fold, and then to the window, but as i understand, the fabric fold FIRST has to be glued, and after that has dried, then the glued, folded fabric shall be glued to the window, right?

As for your question, I did it in one shot! But due to the short processing time of the bond it was indeed very difficult to first insert the glue into the fabric fold and afterwards fix it on the glass.
Honestly, I can't recall why I didn't due it in two steps as you described it. I assume that I just didn't wanted to touch the same area twice.

Hi ,kleiner Tipp nachträglich… , wenn du das Dach ein wenig geöffnet hättest, wäre das Problem mit dem nicht passenden unteren Rand nicht aufgetreten. Hab letztes Jahr meinen TT auch so repariert 👍
Ja danke, der Gedanke war seinerzeit natürlich auch da, aber da ich nicht einschätzen konnte, wie sich die Klebung verhalten wird, wenn sie einer dauernden Zugbelastung ausgesetzt ist, habe ich mich dass dann doch nicht getraut. Aber gut zu hören, dass es bei dir funktioniert hat!

Thank you very much for the praise - I would never have had expected to hear the expression “Above & Beyond” in relation with my video, as I only associated it with EDM until now 😊.
Joking aside, I can very much relate to your question as this is truly the most important factor. Fortunately, I can happily state that it is just the same as on day one after repair! No dissolution whatsoever - so the bond has so far proven what the company advertised.
I do hope that this won’t change when hot temperatures & high humidity will kick in here in summer. In any case I will pay more attention to UV radiation exposure from now on.

Kenne jetzt die Details beim E46 nicht, aber sofern es keine gravierenden baulichen Unterschiede gibt, sollte die Klebetechnik doch identisch sein, oder?
I cleaned and prepped my 2009 Audi A4 Cabriolet before I saw your video. I scrapped off all the black primer on the glass, thinking it was old glue. Do you know of a primer brand that I could paint on?
What a bummer - sorry to hear that, Mike!
I am not sure what exactly stopped me to do the very same thing at that time, but fortunately I did not remove the primer. Hence, I did not have to investigate about such products.
Nevertheless, my first idea is to check what "3M" provides for such cases. According to my experience available products sometimes vary by country, but from what I have heard so far their glue for soft top & glass is also superior. So I do hope that they also provide a suitable primer.

Moin, die Klebung ist nach wie vor perfekt - keinerlei Ablösungs- oder Auflösungserscheinungen. Von daher hat der Kleber gehalten, was versprochen wurde.
Habe allerdings inzwischen in anderen Videos auch viel Gutes von dem Kleber von 3M gehört.

Thank you very much for your friendly comment.
To answer your question, please refer to "Chapter 4" (26:43): fortunately, one tube of the 2K glue was just sufficient to complete the task. I marked the three gluing sequences with a red pen on the cylinder.
If you might have difficulties to acquire the glue, I will be on my way to Germany in December and could probably assist.
Otherwise, 3M also seems to produce a very reliable product.

The rear glass has completely fallen off.
It seems that the Fabrics for the top has shrunk quite a bit, so I would like to investigate a little more to see if I can do the same construction as you, and then consider repair methods. Kannst du heute nach einem Jahr einen Erfahrungsbericht geben, also wie sehen die Klebenähte aus bzw. hat es überhaupt gehalten.

Ja, die Klebung hat gehalten - praktisch unveränderter Zustand seit der Reparatur. Bin soweit sehr zufrieden.

Das ist natürlich die wichtigste aller Fragen - deshalb wurde sie bereits auch mehrfach gestellt: Ja, der Kleber zeigt bis heute keinerlei Ablösungen
@@nesno6298 Trotz der Schrumpfung des Verdecks, das ist gut!
Ich habe auch den Cabriodoc Kleber, allerdings andere Klemmen welche die Sonne nicht abkönnen, waren am nächsten Tag von der Hitze stark verformt. Den oberen Falz hab ich vorgestern neu verklebt, heute sind die Seiten dran, unten ist noch nichts zu erkennbar. Hatte zuvor Klebeproben auf einem angerauten Spiegel gemacht, der Kleber hält am Glas besser als Stoff auf Stoff. Die Verarbeitungszeit ist leider kürzer als angegeben, wie man auch hier im Video sieht.
