I was told many times my ares ii is one of the best sounding radios they have heard. I couldn't be more happy with it. Only used it on am with a sra 198
I love the look of the Aires but I won't buy anything without a true frequency meter anymore went to many years without one using channel charts but that thing definitely sounds amazing! I wasn't paying attention awhile back on FM had my key to high which that's all you got on FM but I blew up my little Galaxy 225 amp I'd had since I was in highschool.... I bought it off a friend of mine he bought it new (or supposedly new)at a truck stop radio store in Joplin in 1998 he needed some extra cash and I bought it I think in 99... Saddened me a little I've sure done a lot of talking on it and talked all over the world on it on Sideband...
Just a note\info only...FM on cb is 8k0 bandwidth 2.00khz deviation ,im sure that icom can select a narrower fm mode in test,think on icom its N-FM. Maybe not aware? I’ve had my Ares 2 for about a week and I’ve had nothing but great reports over the air. I had to get the software and cable to turn down the monitor volume level but it’s a smoking radio. I’m going to pair it with a nice 2 pill.
