  • Cheap brake pads are waste of money, annoying and dangerous.
In this video we are re doing the brakes on the saab 93 aero, the same brake setup is found on other saabs, to identify the same brake setup, look if you have the 16+ in. Brakes, 314mm brakes, level 3 brake setup, brake disc code AC & finally brake caliper code CC.
OE pads number 93188113, alternately i recommend using the HELLA PAGID T1551 or 355006561.

4:00 "People living in rusty environments may have to do more cleaning and lubricating." I live in the northeast of the U.S and can confirm that metal rusts here very quickly. Lots of salt and rain. Cars fail here often times because the rust ate through the metal. It's a constant battle against corrosion.

Very helpful. I’m hoping it will help me with my 2006 next week. Replacing all discs and pads 😬

Great video - also applicable to Vauxhall/Opel Vectra C fitted with the 3.0 V6 CDTI as at least some of these are fitted with the same brakes

Silky G hi man, im not a rust expert, we literally see rust on cars here, but i would use heat with it and move it back and forth and take ur time, it will take forever, do not overheat the caliper though.

Any chance you can do the rear pads also

If pads only, straight forward remove slide pins with Allen key H7 bit. Nothing tricky
BUT.......if also swapping rear rotors, need E18 and E20 reverse-torc sockets plus a 21mm wrench. To safely remove bracket to release old rotor, there's an annoying long bolt blocking direct access to top bracket bolt (E18). Loosen bolt with E20 and its nut with 21mm wrench. Don't remove all the way just 2 inches aside to access (if you remove this long bolt it WILL be a pain sliding it back in)
      Hope this helps.

@@Whit_Siever Did the rear breaks on my 03 aero a few days ago and found myself in the position of not being able to loosen the bolts of the bracket. They were completely rusted and i broke a Socket in the process of trying it. Then i just tried leaving the bracket in place, and there was no problem with that at all. There was enough clearance to carfully put on the new rotor, without it event touching the bracket. Saved me a lot of effort.
      Cheers

All you need is a 17mm socket for the lug nut, and a 7mm Alen (hex)

U can’t use grease for pistons! Ate recommendation. Just clean it
