In the photo is a scene from.the Giullieta part in Offenbach Les Contes de Hoffman with Neil Schicoff. Tatiana Toyanos was born in 1938 and died in 1993.
I heard her 3x.. The first time was a somewhat subdued performance of Carmen at Covent Garden in 1974. Maybe it was the production, I cant tell, but I was (to my shame) somehow disappointed. However I heard her Sesto in Clemenza di Tito in Salzburg a couple of years later and I was immediately won over and became a big fan after that. Even more amazing was her Adalgisa which I saw her sing in Vienna with Scotto as Norma.which I saw 3x! SInce then I have been totally in love with her voice.
Acacia Bloom :: You are extremely lucky to have had these great opportunities to hear her -- live ! Maybe _Carmen_ didn't suite her character and personality. But _Sesto !_ I would have loved hearing her sing that magnificent, dramatic Mozart recitative :: "Oh Dei, che smania e questa". She must have been great which could be the reason her performance changed your opinion. It use to happen to me a lot ; hearing a singer for the first time & not liking their voices & years later, hearing them again in another role & couldn't believe it was the same singer. ( James McCracken in _Le Prophete._ ) Tatiana Troyanos is the only singer I know who performed Cleopatra AND Julius Caesar from Handel's _Julius Caesar._ Handel would freak-out ! Thank you for your comment about this extraordinary singer !
From the photo is appears to be a performance. The poor tenor's face was taken at an unfortunate moment. But when you sing, you have to open your mouth. Just enjoy the superb voices...ah, to have seen her in person must have been wonderful!
I am a real fan of hers but I find her lacking in this vocally in the midvoice to low. Her real vocal "sparkle" was always much higher. This is respectable, but her voice doesn't really shine here.
I saw one of her last performances as Clarion. She commanded the stage. Such a loss of such an amazing and versatile artist.
one of the most beautiful and sensual voices ever singing one of the most beautiful and sensual arias ever, wonderful!

Tatiana Troyanos una vera grandissima artista dalla voce meravigliosa!
quelle voix !! Une couleur superbe !
une chaleur qui illumine la voix et un timbre d'or !
Troyanos, of course, sounds amazing in this music. And Guy Chauvet sings the difficult final high note as well as I've ever heard it sung.

I heard her live singing for Sarah Caldwell and yes it was GLORIOUS. it was a "star is born" event.
The tenor is Guy Chauvet! Might be a production from Geneva 1973 with Patane conducting!
Gorgeous! Thanks for sharing it.
BTW, the photo is not from Samson et Dalila, but Tales of Hoffmann with Neil Shicoff
Divine TatjanaTfoyanos
wonderful Dalila!
Ascoltata alla Scala anni fa in Adalgisa....bellissima voce. Calda e morbida
Bellissimo grazie a voi !!
Saluti di Marsiglia !!
Non l’avevo mai sentita...splendida voce!
Non mi stanco mai di ascoltarlo! È sublime!
One of the best songs in opera history. And it's Troyanos, so it's that much better
Splendeur immense !
Merveilleuse Tatiana TROYANOS !

DIEU🌿💐🇻🇦✝️🇲🇬💐🌿 PROTÈGEZ💞⛑💞 ET ACCUEILLEZ💐💒💐 DANS VOTRE PARADIS🌿💒✝️💒🌿 L'ÂME DE MADAME TATIANA TROYANOS💞🥰💞 !!!
Lei è incredibilmente brava! Chi è il tenore?
Who is the tenor?Shicoff?
It does look like him.
Where was the tenor?
TRES grande artiste, que j'aimerai toujours. Maisl son accent français est épouvantable ici.
Son accente francais?.......pas important ici.
Is it a concert, or a performance?
From the photo is appears to be a performance. The poor tenor's face was taken at an unfortunate moment. But when you sing, you have to open your mouth. Just enjoy the superb voices...ah, to have seen her in person must have been wonderful!
As mentioned above, the photo is from a different opera.
This is lovely, but Verrett and Vickers were sizzling hot in this!
Did anyone notice his face in the photo? hahahaha
I am a real fan of hers but I find her lacking in this vocally in the midvoice to low. Her real vocal "sparkle" was always much higher. This is respectable, but her voice doesn't really shine here.
She was always more of a "high-mezzo"/low soprano, rather than the borderline contralto needed to truly make this role shine. Great singer, still!
Can one sing it any better??
Yes, but they’re all dead.
Who is the conductor? This is really fast tempo, like he has to hurry up and go to the bathroom. Lovely singing but gee whiz....
Love this tempo! Most singers want to drag things out, but this has real urgency and spark.
I prefer her sesto-maybe this is a bit low....
I do not like her vowels.
