- America mezzo-soprano TATIANA TROYANOS (1938-1993) in several interviews from the mid-1980's where she spoke about her name, her early studies, her Strauss roles (both Richard & Johann), conductors, and more.
Troyanos's voice always fascinated me with its depth of emotion
Even her advertising the calendar at the end sounds marvelous
Beautiful music, strong voice
Her Eboli was absolutely electric!
She was EXTRAORDINARY!
Love this woman!
What an extraordinary lady she was!
Abandoned by her parents, 10 years in an orphanage, the gift of a voice saved her.
Her speaking voice is so beautiful!
I almost wrote "sultry".
Back in the day (circa 1985-6), I went to a prominent Ear, Nose and Throat doctor that all the greats visited ( Dr. Grabsheid), and she was sitting a seat away from me, in what seemed to be a great deal of distress as she kept saying, "Ach Quatsch!" in German from either sinusitis or allergies. I didn't dare speak to her, but was really in awe!
It was like sitting next to a Goddess 😍.

She has such a beautiful speaking voice. RIP Tatiana - your art will always live on.
Gorgeous woman, Gorgeous speaking voice... but above all... Gorgeous artist! Thank you for posting!
You're very welcome; glad you found and enjoyed it! She was my favorite mezzo who I heard often in person during her MET years.
After the One and only Maria, she's the only woman Opera singer I fall in love!!!
" I want to sing into my sixties"...would to God that could have happened for this brilliant singer. Aside from her operatic roles, she was the best thing in Bernstein's West Side Story album that he cast with opera singers. A marvelous "Anita"
What a great singer. And I love listening to her speak!
Thank you for this amazing chain of interviews. It's wonderful to hear her voice and her thoughts. She is wonderfully intelligent and articulate. God rest her noble soul.
What a humble lady
I loved her.😍
My all time role model as a singer, artist and human being
Marvelous interview! 30:11 Wise words!
I saw her in concert with Domingo in Pasadena Ca shortly to her passing. I was wondering why it was so short, she was sick at the time!!
Yes, breast cancer....so CRAZY!!! Such an amazing artist!
Smart questions for a Brillant artist.
Another Greek Diva!!
