@@crazyorganist1609 Borodina has the right timbre of voice. She is a true mezzo with the right chest voice which is necessary for this role. I saw her at the Met with Domingo singing Samson many years ago probably nearly 15 - 20 years ago. She was stupendous!
I am really truly struggling to see what makes people look down their noses at Saint-Saëns. I have heard some say, "His music was by no means profound, but he composed a lovely opera, Samson et Dalilah !" I think this opera is far more than simply "Lovely"; The style it is written in I had never heard before listening to it and have not heard since. There is something so modern, and so refreshing about this opera, the music is mystical and elusive, Saint-Saëns cleverly sustains this very visionary atmosphere through to the end through rich orchestration and harmony. I simply do not see what makes him a "second tier composer", I find this opera beyond profound. Perhaps it is that he was more methodical than some composers when writing? Or the fact that his 'style' was not as distinct as other composers. Perhaps even prejudice towards the man himself. Surely many others must think so too.
I first heard this as a child of 8 on old wind up 78. Although I didn't know what the music was, it remained with me until I heard it again as a grown man. It took me back to my grandfather, my childhood and this recording is wonderful.
it is a Star Track / Samson and Dalia merge, production companies these days. First they merged Frozen with sleeping beauty, then pride and prejudice with walking dead, and now this.
It's so beautiful but I can't watch it without dissolving in to giggles. Olga's hugging this huge blanket. Placid is crawling along it. Then the fumble at the end as they position themselves for this really weird pose with Olga head back and Placido trying to stand over her.... What on earth were the production team thinking? How Placido and Olga managed to sing a note I just don't know.

Olga was born for this role. This is simply the best, the perfect version of this highly underrated aria . Olga's voice in here is superb, mellow, powerful, sensual , and stunning. Her facial expressions, together with Domingo and the orchestra... the short but climatic though short duet is supreme. I could't ask for more!

Domingo return to this state or just retire from opera now. No need to be a baritone if you can't even sing a high A or a B flat like you used to (and most dramatic/Verdi baritones CAN do this)
***** Don't give me that bull crap! You have over 80+ year old women on youtube WHO ARE COLORATURA SOPRANOS, singing high E's, F's, and G's! Don't give me that crap that because he's aging, he's going to magically decrease his vocal range! As you get older, you voice matures but it's not going to change your voice completely. Ettore Bastianini was a Bass at one point re-trained as a dramatic/Verdi baritone and performed those great roles associated with Verdi repertoire.
I strongly encourage you to hear the great Dalilahs of the past, there you will find a bunch of nice interpretations as Hélène Bouvier, Suzzane Lefort, Risë Stevens and Blanche Thebom, all of them knowing perfectly well how to sing the role. Then the later Rita Gorr one of the tops, Jean Madeira, Oralian Dominguez and Shirley Verret, the last great Dalilah. Borodina unfortunately has no idea of the way to sing the role and I guess she doesn't have even the D flat and certainly not de C because the emission of those notes is completely silenced, exactly the opposite to Saint Saëns idea of enlarging and amplifying the end of the phrases, all of them concluding in the chest, a technique that seems to be erased in modern times to the knowledge of actual singers.
I feel like this role was written for Borodina. She is perfection.
It was written for Mariya Callas , only
MZ ❌️
No One ! No One ! can sing this aria/scene like Borodina ! You're right ! she's perfection.
Callas sings it beautifully with unparalleled emotion but Borodina is outstanding too

Indeed adore his work.

Anyone here from Muse's "I Belong To You"?
She sounds wonderful. I'm not sure why they are in the Alien spaceship though.

You better stop 🤣
THIS is the voice of a Dalilah, NOT Garanca. She relishes in the mid and bottom.
Listen to Christa Ludwig.
Ravie! Merci! Esther Lessa
That chorus gives me chills. Its the musical equivalent of a noose slowly tightening around the heart.
The orchestra is in almost perfect sync with the performers. So rare. Much respect.
magnifique borodina, magnifique saint saens ❤
Such a beautiful love song. The emotion is wonderful. Love it.
Concur.

Einfach wagnerische Musik !!! Dem ist nichts hinzuzufûgen !!!

This is a wonderful voice and great interpretation...…………………...
I wish the subtitles were in French, not Italian.
Non ci sono parole: MAGNIFICA!!!
Deeply feminine, seductive, sensuous and utterly convincing. Thank you!!!
Ella es magnífica!
Borodina superba! Peccato il tenore!
Doesn't get much better than this.
She is divine here! 😍
SO FUCKING AWESOME... INCREDIBLE 😍😍
An excellent rendition. To bad that it was cut sharply at the end instead of fading it out to the last note.
Right. What a shame.
That's the way it was written by Camile
Stunning!
Una meraviglia!
It’s hauntingly beautiful… what a performance !
sublime j'adore quelles voix tous les 2!!

Best. Version. Ever.
I must agree with You.
Did you hear the concert version in London by Jessie Norman ?
Not quite. Look for Olga with a very young Jose Cura. That's the one.
sublime, conmovedora
I saw her sing this in San Francisco and then again in Washington. She was wonderful.
Interpretações impecáveis......lindas.

dramatic tenors usually sing a b or a Bb. Its extremely rare a baritone to sing a B. neither bastianini nor capuccili could hit live a b.
