  • THE EYES OF TAMMY FAYE is an intimate look at the extraordinary rise, fall and redemption of televangelist Tammy Faye Bakker. In the 1970s and 80s, Tammy Faye and her husband, Jim Bakker, rose from humble beginnings to create the world’s largest religious broadcasting network and theme park, and were revered for their message of love, acceptance and prosperity. Tammy Faye was legendary for her indelible eyelashes, her idiosyncratic singing, and her eagerness to embrace people from all walks of life. However, it wasn’t long before financial improprieties, scheming rivals, and scandal toppled their carefully constructed empire.
Cast: Jessica Chastain, Andrew Garfield, Cherry Jones, Fredric Lehne, Louis Cancelmi, Sam Jaeger, Gabriel Olds, Mark Wystrach, Vincent D’Onofrio

Of the 5 best actress leads this year nominated for Oscar, Jessica should win. She did the best job of all of them. She is phenomenal in this role. 💞

Jessica deserves an award for her amazing performance in the movie. I highly recommend watching it.
Tammy deserves to be recognized in a positive light even though she’s is no longer on earth. RIP Tammy ✝️

Andrew is truly one to watch, people see him as “spider man” but he is soo much more than that! Jessica is also phenomenal. But the real thrill of this is seeing Tammy Faye not portrayed as a villain or punchline as she was portrayed in the media.

Although this video was posted three months ago, today marks the day after the SAG awards. Jessica brought it home, and I cried when she accepted her much deserved Best Actress Award. This movie means so much to me, watching Tammy Faye each morning while I was getting ready for work. I loved Tammy Faye for so many reasons and number one was her unconditional love. We can all learn from that. After the movie, on my way to the car, I told my friend “she’s going to win best actress”. Thank you Tammy Faye for all, I miss you so very much.. Jessica, I’d like to think that this was all a part of God‘s plan for your life. Thank you sweet Jessica. You are an angel. Tammy Faye would be thrilled.

Tammy was an incredible person and hero during the aids epidemic. I have witnessed the aids pandemic and it was so scary but 3 incredible women made a huge difference and are heroes in the LGBT community. These women represented power, wisdom and courage and these women were Elizabeth Taylor with a huge influence and money she used her power to make crisis centers and support centers for aids patients to get the care they needed, Tammy with her wisdom she used her love and her love for god that they are loved and god loves them and gave them the encouragement to fight to live and Princess Diana with her courage she showed the world that you can hold them and love them because God knows they need it and she broke the stigma.

Jessica is a profound actress. Epic.
My lovely Aunt Naomi was taken in by the PTL Club.. Although she spent a lot of money on them, she also got a tremendous amount of joy.

You can tell that Jessica really enjoys this role. She has been working on this story since 2012, this was one of her most passion project, it wasn't until 2019 the movie got greenlit with a director and screenwriter. Tammy Faye would've been so proud for her

Love the movie - watched it twice so far. Thrilled Jessica won at the SAG awards. Andrew and Jessica’s southern accents were superb - a big switch from Tick Tock Boom. I never heard Jessica sing so magnificently . She is my favorite actress up there with with Meryl Streep…. Being excessively materialistic was her only negative characteristic knowing she was spending money on herself from donations… Yes, she turned darkness into light for many people who felt insecure, uncomfortable, or whatever was bringing them down she lifted them up with the words from her heart “God loves ya”….Judaisms’ philosophy is the same - we are all made from gods image.

They're Minnesotan, or Midwest, accents. It's a pretty exaggerated accent, though. I can say that as a lifelong Minnesotan. Lol

Wow i remember being a little kid watching Jim and Tammy Faye. Same with Jimmy Swaggart. Then all if their falls from so called "grace". Now hes back on tv with his new wife which she has an uncanny likeness to Tammy.

When Ms Chastain asks "why hasnt someone already made this film",,,, well they have. There was a very good made for TV movie about Jim and Tammy that was made in the 90s starring Bernadette Peters and Kevin Spacey. Lets give respect where respect is due.

Strongest scene, for me, when Jim goes to see his son for the first time shortly after birth and comments that it is a day for celebration, but it has been "tainted" by depravity!!!

Growing up I immediately dismissed them because of their views on conditional salvation. Both changed their views later on. But I to had a negative hahaha you got what was coming to you view. But I to had to dig a little deeper, put aside my prejudices and really look. Perfect they were not, but they weren't no where near as bad as they were made out to be.

Everything about this movie impressed me so much more than I expected. I still don't buy that Tammy was so clueless that she didn't know of or suspect any of Jim's shenanigans going on right in front of her. She lived a life of opulence and helped kick start Jim's Prosperity Gospel into the monster it is today. I loved Jessica in the movie, but it's hard not to wonder if Jim took the fall so their kids would still have a parent.

I know this is Chastain's movie, and shes an excellent actress, but her voice is simply too low. Tammy Faye was squeeky. She was always squeeky. Jessica Chastain is not squeeky. That's my only complaint. Just the voice. Not the most important thing.
