Thank you for telling a few of your stories about working with Marlon Brando on the Superman movies. I watched them as a kid growing up and still occasionally watch them when I have some spare time. Ursa is still my favourite Kryptonian villain and you embodied her brilliantly. Funny thing, though, I recently came across 5 Starlog magazines all with articles about the Superman movies between 1978-1987 and bought all 5! It was a delight to read the articles about those movies, including the interview with you.
This was fabulous insight. You were wonderful in the movies and after seeing this video and others it is easy to see you are an even more delightful person in real life. Many blessings to you.
Sarah, it's such an honour to even be able to comment here. Superman movies in which you played Ursa are etched in my memory since childhood. I literally grew up watching Superman II as I used to have it on a video cassette. I have the utmost regard and gratitude for all the cast and crew. I would love to meet you one day and perhaps if I am more lucky then even do a spoof arm wrestling with you! Greetings and lots of love from India! I just subscribed to your channel. Wish you the best of health and everlasting happiness. ❤✴🌟
This call sheet for Superman II took place on 15th April 1977. I was born barely a month before and by the time I was 8 or 9, the film would become an integral part of my life.
I'll never forget these scenes I watched as a kid, each time I watch a Superman scene, I get the chills. I hated Ursa when she (ab)used of her powers on Lois (and the Astronauts). Great actress !
In the call sheet she showed at the start, you can see Deborah Raffin's name with Christopher Reeve; she was one of those who auditioned for Lois Lane.
To think they had already started filming and she was on the call sheet for a rehearsal. Margot Kidder must have gotten the part at the last minute. Hard to believe it's been almost 10 years since Deborah died. She was taken too soon, as were Margot and Christopher.
Rehearsal with Deborah raffin and Christopher reeve noted- filming lasted for so long Lois Lane hadn't even been cast yet- Raffin and Reeve would later work together on a TV movie in the early 90s I believe
I remember watching Superman at home on TV as a kid and my older sister during the trial scene saying "Oh my god! Marlon Brando thinks he's such hot shit!" I had no idea what she meant or who Marlon Brando was.
That must be the case. I wonder if all Brando's scenes were finished before Margot was cast? The only time they appear in the same scene is during the depowering scene in the Fortress in the Donner cut. But Brando is a special effect in that shot so may not have been actually there with Margot.
"Kneel before Zod!" I hope he has a sense of humor about this! Nobody's making fun of him. Zod was a great villain from THE LAST GOOD Superman movie! (Frankly, I think the Donner Cut is the better version but I like have both versions of Superman II available to watch. Actually, there's a third ABC Network (the American network owned by Disney, not the Australian one) version of Superman II but it's not currently available on home video unlike the alternate ABC version of Superman: The Movie. A pity!) Zod is the easiest supervillain to quote because the phrases are fun to repeat. I hate to say this but they haven't made a live-action Superman film as good as the first two in 1978 and 1980. Now, there have been some VERY GOOD Superman animated projects since then -- the excellent 1990s animated TV series and a few animated films from the 2000s -- but the live-action Man of Steel has not been able to come together since 1981... And, yes, I am aware Ms. Douglas did voiceover for another Phantom Zone villain, Mala, for the Superman animated TV series (1996-2000). It was interesting to watch this episode again when I became aware of this fact and try to find the intonations I heard from the Superman films she appeared in. I like it when I get "fooled" and am not aware of who I'm listening to! Guest voices are fun to figure out!
Agreed, with all the scandals in Hollywood over the years, the very thought of a young actress sitting on the lap of an older man who is hugely famous would be completely unacceptable 😮
@@kevindarkstar I'm not saying it would be completely unacceptable but the older man would be criticised for that now, especially as he had asked her to sit on his lap.
@@ppuh6tfrz646 I know you're not saying it, but I am, in today's world and in consideration of the shit storm in and around the Hollywood scene, this would be public suicide 🤷🏻♂️
Still gorgeous Sarah!🤩
It’s always great to see an actor/actress who is the exact opposite of the character he or she plays.
God love Sarah Douglas. I could sit and listen to her talk for the rest of my life.
really loved the Ursa era. You played her brilliant!
Especially that blow kiss
Your voice is still enchanting. Thank you, for sharing these wonderful stories.
Love you Ms Douglas....MASSIVE respect to you.....part of my childhood memories ❤❤❤
My god, is that Sarah Douglas whose Zod clips I've been just watching one after another, admiring the stunning villainess she portrayed?

LOVE that composed and conducted Ken Thorne score(with thematic material composed by John Williams) to my favorite "Superman" film.
The opening song for Superman is absolutely epic!!! Sometimes I enjoy listening to it.
Superman: The Movie is my all time favorite film. I can't believe its been 40 years.

1:16 What does it say on the photograph? I can't make out Marlon Brando's handwriting!
Your amazing Sarah 🙏 we would love to talk to you on our podcast 👏

"The woman, Ursa, whose perversions and hate for all mankind have threatened even the children of the planet Krypton...."
I saw Deborah Raffin's name on the sheet. Was she going to be Lois Lane?
Marlon Brando’s best performance was apocalypse now.
3:07 I'm sure this was innocent enough but you could never do that nowadays.
