Truly incredible to hear the passion and preparation Jessica put into the character. She may have never met Tammy, but she certainly allowed the audience to meet Tammy by becoming a vessel to her spirit! Telling stories like hers is what changes minds and cures the disease of hate in our society. Thank you for sharing your journey and your commitment to this story!
13:11 I watched The Eyes of Tammy Faye on a long flight. I was fighting so hard, in so many places, to not bawl out loud and I'm a dude in my 50s. Yeah, you moved me Ms. Chastain.
The thing I admire most about Chastain's performance was the sincerity. A lesser talented actress may have gone over the top or campy, but she found the humanity in Tammy and brought it out.
I believe for Tammy Faye, taking care of other people and being so positive all the time was the way she knew how to deal with the pain, insecurity and loneliness she felt inside. Somehow making sure the people outside yourself are comforted, happy and smiling gives you the illusion that you're being comforted, and that everything will be okay. Seeing other peoples' response in feeling comforted or happy reflected back at you seems to trick your soul into believing everything is okay when it's actually not. I think there was a part of Tammy Faye who really did love people, but having listened to her own testimony, as well as the testimonies of her two kids, there was a part of her that was completely broken, and caring for others seemed to be more a way of survival than anything else. Chastain basically said it herself that many comedians are very very sad people, and the way they cope is making people laugh even though on the inside they are trapped in a nightmare. How much of the real Tammy Faye did we see? We'll never know. We do know that behind all of that make-up and gusto was a tremendous amount of sadness. Seems like if her own husband had given her the attention she deserved as a wife, she might have been spared all that pain. Instead, it seemed like he just saw her as a tool for building his empire more than anything else. It's little wonder she had such a tough life with Jim.

Strongest scene, for me, when Jim goes to see his son for the first time shortly after birth and comments that it is a day for celebration, but it has been "tainted" by depravity!!!

I'm so happy for Jessica. She went for broke in that performance.
A well-deserved Oscar. I feel like Tammy Faye would be so proud of Jessica’s portrayal of her.

You did a great job singing! I would have though that you were on Broadway
Tammy Faye was Iconic, she certainly made a progressive powerful impact for the true inclusive message of God's love. Jessica Chastain, bravo!
The joy of the Lord was hers, and is our STRENGTH!
I enjoyed her performance and the movie as a whole, for some reason it didn't do well commercially speaking? Feel bad for her.
Tammy is increidible and Chastain not is
I loved Chastain even more.
