    Negatives.
    Cleat below the Trolling Motor
    You crossed the bow with the Trolling Motor taking away forward seating
    Didn’t use a backing plate.
    I used that mistake and the whole bow of my boat cracked.
    Just reinstalled with the backing plate underneath the bottom and a plate on top underneath the supplied plate
    That part probably wasn’t needed for the top, but did not want the bow to crack again
    Just in case you think, it’s the integrity of the boat. It’s a Grady White. Very solid boat.

    Thanks for sharing! I have a Robalo, the location of those batteries is in a wet location. If being used in the salt, please cover those terminals in Dielectric Grease or a NCP2 type product. Or try to cover or move water away. Do what you can to extend the life of those expensive batteries!

    Upgraded from my 30# MK that maxed out at 3mph. This pushes my pelican pwr 100 at 4.5mph which is nuts since the pwr is a slow yak

    Great instructions I always use a lock washer I addition to the nylon lock nut as you can’t make this connection to secure trolling motors take a lot of beating on the bow

    Remind owner to calibrate his TM and set the Off set . Most new owners don’t understand that. (Not sure if you water tested it and did that for the owner)

    • @yesmamm241
      @yesmamm241 Рік тому

      Also remind the owner that he will get a ticket for blocking the navigation light. My “professional installation “ seemed to not care about that.

    Two years later this motor is going strong ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxBZWgzfpS2Jj7JqIHyaSZjyVHNUgCKCBf Just uploaded a video of it after 2 years. We use it probably a dozen days each year on our small raft.-original review- We got this motor the other day and tested it out. I don't have anything to compare it to, but it seems good to me. It has all the features advertised - the motor housing is metal. We will see how it performs longer term and I will revise this review if needed. Some initial observations:- Good thrust, moves our boat around really well- It comes with a circuit breaker but no switch - so there's no way to kill the motor other than yanking the connection off the battery. I installed an inline switch.- The mount bracket is plastic and I worry it might break- There are a number of plastic parts that I worry about, but the most important ones are metal or some kind of composite

    The front 2 holes should be over the flat deck. Look at the ShuttleSlide trolling motor mount. It would really help with this type of install if u do one like this in the future

    • @jamesglavich1426
      @jamesglavich1426 Рік тому

      There is a small wonder why the ShuttleSlide looks so unstable. There is so many parts, and I didn't see any convenient way to remove the trolling motor. You can add an aluminum plate if you want the front holes on a "flat deck".

    • @chloesunshine9333
      @chloesunshine9333 Рік тому

      @@jamesglavich1426 They make them for the 108" shaft Rhodan motors too. Any mount that can handle that large motor is a game changer. I believe the only thing that moves are the 2 metal pieces that slide in the slot. The back thumb screws are removable and u can just slide it off the back of the mount. Seems easy enough to me, but everyone has their own preference. I just thought there is another option in securely mounting the motor since the puck wasn't made to be altered. Minn Kota told me if u alter the puck, it voids can warranty. I know many people do that because they don't realize there are other options out there. No worries.

  • @Wirenutby
    @Wirenutby 3 роки тому +1

    Hey Chris, excellent video. I love the location for your heading sensor in the head. The spec recommends
    to not locate it within 24" of any power wiring. Any issues with it working properly with the heavy 12 volt power wires so close? I hate to install the sensor on the gunwal.

    Why couldn’t you mount it in the position like you have it resting at 5:19 of the vid? I know you have it just sitting there out of your way while you work on the mounting on the other side but that looks way better and out of the way

    I have a Campion explorer 492, I'd like to install a bow mount on it but there is no access to get to the bottom of the bolts. Could I use toggle bolts with thread lock (and adhesive like you did) to hold it on? or do you think they would rip through the fiberglass going down the road? other issue would be the stainless bar on the front.... but i figured i could just extend the TM all the way before dropping it down... any insight would be helpful, thanks
