    That came out great cap! Love how you can steer it remotely from the pilot house ot just chill out on the deck and steer it too. It moves that heavy boat real good. Now you can get into protected areas where no gas motors are allowed. Awesome video!

    You can put that heading-sensor in the cabin somewhere! It is Bluetooth! Mine is under the helm in a center Console. Buy a spare prop. Great job on solid install.

    The external bluetooth antenna is a secondary antenna for the motor.
    The 1st couple yrs the Ipilots came out they only had the antenna reciever in the motor head only.
    What would happen in currents on spot lock, the boat could spin and as long as the bow stayed in the same position it thought everything was fine.
    They added the 2nd antenna so it would know the boats orientation.
    So the 2nd antenna HAS to be mounted rearward of the boat. I always install them at the transom area.
    But on the hardtop you tested will work fine.

    I see a big market for these motors for the NE saltwater coastal fishing folks for bottom fishing, instead of anchoring over a good bottom patch or wreck, may need two anchors to hold the boat instead. Then to move, have to retrieve. There may even be more manufacturers coming in.

    Hola Out On the Reef. He visto un par de vídeos tuyos y he decirte que son muy instructivos.... Enhorabuena!!!. En relación al uso de este Heading Sensor no me queda muy claro si ayuda, o si por el contrario hace que el Minn Kota funcione peor. Estoy en proceso de instalación y me gustaría tener claro si ayuda ya que no me queda muy clara su función, salvo que este se pueda disponer de dos coordenadas GPS y el posicionamiento mejore en cuestiones de precisión. Agradecería tu consejo. Gracias de antemano. Saludos.

    That’s the same thing I did with my sensor. Just an FYI if your minn Kota starts doing crazy side to side actions when offshore turn off your heading sensor. It will run fine with spot lock just no jog feature. Mine got so bad it would go hard port then hard starboard. In rough seas that will crack your shaft. Trust me I’ve had my shaft replaced because of the bad sensor. Overall best money and game changer when bottom fishing. Most people will not even try to fish a wreck when they see you have one.

    • @OutOnTheReef
      @OutOnTheReef  3 роки тому +1

      Wow captain that is awesome information thank you in one question if you turn the heading sensor off. Left right would stop?
      Because I'm seeing that on my Minn Kota when I went to the Sea and it was 2 to 3 ft shop

    • @thephenicies9999
      @thephenicies9999 3 роки тому +2

      @@OutOnTheReef just turn power off on the sensor and it stops the crazy side to side action immediately. I was out with my boys in some pretty rough weather and it started going port to starboard 0-10 and back again. It’s like it was fighting to keep the boat in a 1 ft space. It was so violent it cracked the shaft. The dealer told me after they replace my shaft to unplug the sensor and if it stops the sensor is bad. Both you and I have our minn Kota somewhat permanent mounted. So I was a little upset to have to in mount it and send it in. Still worth it when not having to anchor in 400ft of water. Since that I don’t use the sensor. Don’t really use the jog feature. I just move around the wreck manually and the spot lock. Enjoy it my friend.

    You have probably answered this question however I wanted to confirm why you went with copper wire in the component list? I have had to do a total rewire on my boat because the copper automotive wire got severely corroded and caused lots of issues. In the end it all got replaced with tinned coated wire. I imagine with quality glue heat shrink and dielectric grease you can minimise the corrosion?!

    • @OutOnTheReef
      @OutOnTheReef  3 роки тому

      Yes Captain there's no way salt water or moisture is going to get on that wire and the battery compartment is water sealed nothing is going to go there so I figured they wouldn't be a problem not like connecting it to the battery of the boat where water moisture goes this is totally different storage

    What is the actual overall weight of your boat, gear and fuel? Do you feel you could have done a 24v instead of the 36v? (I guess you can answer that better after your sea trial)
