Finally someone posted a step by step lol thank you so much was trying to find a video like this is very hard
So glad I can help
This was EXTREMELY helpful! I spray painted my first tumbler last week and had a drip. The way you explained your technique makes so much sense. Thank you so very much!
Thank you!!! I’ve been searching for a detailed prep video and you nailed it with all the details. This is just what I needed! You gained a new subscriber 😊
This is the best video I have watched. I love that you explain everything like I am a friend sitting next to you, and I am in New England so that little tip helped. You are amazing. Thank you.

This is awesome. I have learned so much. Thank you for sharing your experience.
First. Your eyebrows...LOVE!! They look amazing! Lol okay now I will finish the video
Dope FirstMom you’re so sweet thank you! Let me know how it works out for you!
After you spray paint the cup, do you need to seal it with anything, or can you start putting your resin on? Thanks
this is one of fantastic video, I am new to this i am still learning one best videos i am doing some tomorrow to learn more :)
First off, wonderful video. I haven’t started yet but i felt like your video filled in so many gaps i had in understanding how to get started on the best foot. Only had two questions. What is the “grit” of the sandpaper you are using? And when spray painting should I only use matte options? Or does the spray paint finish even matter?
I’d recommend 120.
Thank you explaining why we need to sand tumblers. I have seen other spray paint without sanding and then using epoxy. Can you do that and create a lasting design?
Thank you! This video is so helpful!
Extremely helpful video +
awesome job and very informational
kelley vanscyoc Thank you 🙏
What it you have bubbles when you spray paint the cup? How do you fix it?
If im using a red cup 🥤 and making a red glitter cup, should I sand it and spray paint red or just sand and add the epoxy and glitter?
Hi am very confused because I I fix a sublimation designed on tumbler and now it’s not a white tumbler but it’s a silver stainless steel tumbler and don’t know if I can sublimate on it help please
Thank you so much for sharing this video.
What are steps after spray painting
What size football are you using? My son said I could use any size, but I don't want to get something to big that I can't use or something to small that it all off and ruins the cup. Help please!
To be quite honest I can’t not tell you the size I do not use them any more. I sell a spinner with foam inserts that are amazing so I tossed all these footballs out. It’s on our website if you want to check it out. But I can tell you I purchased the footballs from the .99 cents store like dollar tree I believe. The are like little small nerf footballs. www.GLITTAFUL.com
Do you have to sand before epoxy?
I did a paint pour tumbler, I want to add a name with vinyl, can I put the vinyl on the seal with the sealer?
If you are wanting to put an initial or some sort of picture do you put that on before the epoxy or after first layer then add second layer?
Hello iam new to this but I spray painted my tumbler then I epoxy it and it started bubbling immediately what did I do wrong ?
Does it have to be white spray
I know I'm late on commenting, but you totally remind me of Britney Murphys character in Clueless. 🥰
I’m using the same cup as you just a different bran! And there’s a few spots that won’t sand right is that ok?
Yes as long as the area got “scratched” then it’s okay
How do you keep the paint, glitter, or resin from getting on the inside of the cup?
You can put Vaseline on the inside of the cup and or use painters tape on the inside of the rim
Very helpful video. How do you clean up your cup rim and inside when you are finished? Thanks.
I use a rag and acetone then I’ll wash the entire cup with dish soap
You do that at the end of everything or before you add epoxy
Kamiko Dease I think it’s at the end of everything.
When you prime does it have to be a white or just any flat color?
How do you avoid fish eyes? I had followed all the steps provided.
Fish eyes could be so many things. Dirst, weather and the mix itself. I would start by wiping down your cup microfiber cloth or paper towel before adding epoxy. Your room shouldn’t be any higher or any lower than 72-75 degrees. Ensure your mixture is the same quantity.
Hi!
1-I love your tutorials!
2- can you tell more about mod podge method? You've said with mod podge you have to add 2-3 coats. Did you mean mod podge*3 and after this to add glitter? Or mod podge, then glitter and then 2-3 additional coats?
Thank you!
Hey!!
Thank you so much for watching!
The mod Podge method is a method of applying glitter. I have a video on how to do that. I’ll link it here so you can watch it for more detail. I have to add 2-3 coats of glitter using the mod Podge method, I find to use more coats when I use white spray paint. Because the color white peers through so the additional coats of glitter help hide that. Now you can at times avoid that issue by using the spray paint color closest to the glitter color you’re using. I hope that helps a bit. ua-cam.com/video/n4bKYCnpnkw/v-deo.html
I got paint on the inside of my cup how do I get rid of the paint on the inside of my cup???? Thanks! Or avoid getting it on the inside in the first place!!!!
Hey Debra. Just use acetone and a rag to remove the excess. In the future is a plastic bag or a piece of tape and Vaseline on the inside
Would it be the same if you didn't use epoxy.
hello & thank you for this great video ! I have a quick question. I see everyone working with silver cups and none with already colored cups. Can I use an already colored cup for my background ? (of course after I prep it)
isabel Villarreal you sure can ❤️
GLITTAFUL LLC would I need to sand the colored cup or can I apply epoxy right on it?
Ok im just starting to make tumblers 🙂 is it necessary to sand it
Great video! I had a question on a cup I was working on .. I’m just starting to learn the process. I have a cup that i spray painted then went over it with epoxy, then left it on the spinner to dry. But as a few minutes went by the epoxy started separating leaving huge dimples, it looked as if it was melting. Any advice ? I’ve had this happen twice to spray painted tumblers but never ran into this issue with glitter tumblers.
I’m having the same problem!! Can’t figure out how to fix it
Same!
Not sure if you’re using a glossy finish but another YTr suggested that the glossy will make the dimples and lumps
I’m new to making tumblers if I use acrylic paint do I spray primer before hand or on top of the acrylic paint? I’m a bit confused 😅
So...of course I attempted to do this before watching your video, only I didnt sand it and I ended up with lots of drips 😭 So what do I do now, is there a way to fix it?
What should I do if I touch my cup after I spray paint it and it has completely dried
What if you have white tumblers? Do you still suggest sanding them?
When I spray-painted my Tumblr to prep it I got some bumps I think I was too close to the Tumblr do you know how I can fix that?
.
Can I just sand and not use white paint ?
Can i epoxy over the acrylic paint or will it smear
You sure can. You can always seal it if your worried about it. However mine have never smeared
GLITTAFUL LLC I made my first cup today but I’m letting it spin then setting it aside to cure but I want to use the acrylic paint as a base cause the spray paint gave me a horrible headache.
I have tryed repeatedly and did step-by-step and I still have Fish eyes What am I doing wrong I am a beginner
Will you be able to see drips if you’re making a fabric tumbler?
Great question. It honestly depends if the drips has a major hump. If not then no.
Thanks so much! Just one suggestion.. please add the link to your website. 😁
Gwen Cosby thank you!! I will update that. 💕 it’s www.glittaful.com
Which spray paint are you recommend for the pre the tumblers, it’s to many in the market. Need to be flat, gloss, water base, etc. I just going to start to making a cup for fun. I need help with this. Thank you.
Miriam Arriaza I use flat iron matte white and black for the color you’ll only find glossy and it doesn’t affect it in any way
Thanks you for the information. I really enjoy and learn a lot watching your videos. You give me the courage to create something unique for my grandkids.
Miriam Arriaza Thank you so much! That means a lot to me! Join us on FB in our group Glitter Tumbler Epoxy Hacks Beginners to Advanced. We’d love to see your creation and answer any questions that may arise.
I’ve made two or three tumblers without sanding them and the epoxy stuck to them perfectly fine. Is this necessary at all? It just seems like possibly unnecessary work. I know you said in the video it’s so the epoxy can adhere better to the tumbler. But have you had an issue with the epoxy not sticking to the tumbler without sanding? Just curious. Thanks! BTW I am still learning so I thought I’d ask to have the knowledge if it’s needed for my next project.
+Jarenice Bravo Hi!! Okay so the reason you sand your cups is because you want to give the paint and epoxy a rough service to hold on to, so in the event that maybe a cup falls and it chips. It’s only that a.. chip. The epoxy itself will level out on the cup it will finish the same as a “properly” prepped cup but you do the prepping in the video to perserve life to the design.
When I started I didn’t do the prep I showed in the video. I never noticed the difference of the two methods until I had to strip a cup and noticed that I can remove the design almost like a shell. Whereas the prepped cup needed elbow grease to take off.
So really the prepping is to give your design a longer life expectancy. I hope this helps. Let me know if you have any questions. Join us on FB we can also chat there! :-) Btw this was a great question thank you for asking.
Do you have to use 91% alcohol or would other strengths work?
Ronda McFalls i find that the 91% works best because it’s less watered down. You can use lower % but I don’t for the reason stated above.
@@GLITTAFULLLC can we use acetone!?????
Acetone has the ability to remove the color of your base and or the glitter is you don’t have full epoxy coverage. I don’t recommend using acetone for this reason
@@GLITTAFULLLC Hello, first thanks for responding. I think I didn't explain myself well. What I wanted to say is that we can use acetone after the tumbler is sanded to clean it? Sorry
Yudid Lopez-Maldonado yes you can.
If I want to use acrylic paint instead of spray paint , after apply the acrylic do I have to epoxy it or just go right in well when it drys?
lucy0830 go right in when it dries. 🤗
Does go right in mean that we can apply the glitter to the wet acrylic paint?
What if the tumbler is matte already?
What grit sand paper do you use? Coarse, Medium or Fine?
She’s using a fine grit 320
I am very new at this and don't know much of anything about decorating tumblers etc... my question is, do you have to sand cups that are already colored and if you do, what do you do next?
Licondalia First or welcome!! You’re going to be hooked. This is so much fun!
To answer your very valid and great question. Yes, even if the cup has a color finish you’ll want to give the cup a light sand to roughen up that surface. The cups that have that finish makes it even harder for the epoxy to stick to the cup and extremely easy to peel off. Once you’ve sanded the cup, follow the same steps in the video as if you are prepping a regular stainless steel cup. Sand, clean surface, spray paint and then decorate your tumbler in manner desired. If you have any further questions please let me know.
What if u do get a drip? Then what
What happens if there is drips after painting?
You can take a rag and use acetone to clean the area with the drip and spray again
Would you recommend to sand plastic tumblers as well?
XxitbelitxX XxxX yes a light sand just to give something for the epoxy and paint to hold on to
@@GLITTAFULLLC Ok, sounds good! Love your videos by the way 😁
XxitbelitxX XxxX Thank you 🙏
Do you have to use white if you want it black?
Absolutely not it can actually be any color you want. I love to color match my base with glitter. Remember certain glitter alter by the base they are applied on. Hope this helps
Hi! Where can the piece you’re using to sand tumbler be purchased? What is it called?
That's a sanding sponge. You can find them at Home Depot, or even Amazon. 3M makes the best ones and you can grab a couple on Amazon for just a few dollars.
Does the paint get inside the tumbler while doing this technique?
No, make sure your cup is on an angle and you shouldn’t have any paint inside. If you do then clean with acetone
GLITTAFUL LLC Thank you so much for your help
Chevana Veals of course anytime
What if bubbles show up
+KRYSTLE SHOWS YOU I would wipe down with acetone the area that bubbles and respray
I hate krylon spray paint it always drips with me no matter what I love rustolem.
Omg and I have the problem vice versa. 😂😂
You should probably wear a mask if your dry sanding.
You should be wearing a masks not good to inhale metal dust
