Great tutorial - as yours always are! One thing worth adding is that there's a hidden setting so that b-roll clips automatically go full screen, rather than needing adjusting. It's buried in the cog-wheel top right and then in "preferences" and then in "fill style for PIP". Set that to "fill" and then there's no need to resize b-roll....
I just posted my first video that I edited with VN Video Editor. It was a basic 4 minute video that I used pieces of 5 short videos. This tutorial was key in helping me do it without losing my mind or giving up. Thanks!
I've tried different video editing apps and vn is my favorite just cuz it's super user friendly. Thank you for these videos they have helped a ton on getting started with UA-cam!
I normally use capcut to edit but I think I like this already, I’ll give it a trial. My problem now is adding the music to my videos, I already got copyright claim on my first UA-cam video because I used the music that came with the app( didn’t know I wasn’t suppose to use it🤧). Now I tried using the epidemic sound and UA-cam music free trial to see how it works first before I start paying, it’s not working 😩😩 Help I’m confused!!
VN doesn’t save my video adjustments such as exposure and brightness etc. I make the adjustments, save the video, go back in and the video reverts back to original. Is there something I’m doing wrong?
I started my channel and i use kinemaster to edit...i still have alot to learn but i think it has a learning curve to it...seeing this video gives me hope that my channel will do better with learning another editing app and how much easier it seems...good luck to everyone on their new youtube channel journey...we got this!!!!
Is there a way to insert a new video clip while having all of the pre-existing videos, layers, sound, etc... shift together? Simply, I'd like to add a new video clip in the middle of my timeline, however, I also need all of the other layers to pair with their respective edits without having to manually shift everything to match. I am editing on an iPad.
I tried DaVinci Resolve and it’s super advanced and I do think some things don’t need to be so isolated. Like the fact that VN has the magnetic overall feature makes it so much user friendly and I don’t know maybe I can’t use DaVinci Resolve but I couldn’t find a feature like that. Also when I tried to add text like the footage would freeze. Like every clip that had text would freeze it was so annoying. Lastly some of my footage got distorted in the process of rendering and that was the hammer on the nail. I had to take a week off editing for my mental health 🙃 I had to try and save that video 8 times because it told me at a time which clips where distorted. Like it couldn’t just make a pop list of which clips couldn’t save. Each time I thought okay now I can save it. Nope. Wow. So tomorrow I was going to start editing again and I am DEFINITELY trying this one. It looks user friendly and seamless. Thank you so much Justin and your team for these videos. This lowkey film school for UA-camrs!
I started using vn editor app when i started my tube content starter you can see i didnt know how to edit videos properly but because of justin i am able to edit videos properly and the way i want
Many thanks Justin for this helpful tutorial. I have 2 questions for VN Video Editor on Macbook: 1. how to set exact duration for a photo clip instead of dragging the edge of the clip in timeline 2. On the iPad version I can easily insert animated stickers by just clicking the Insert Stocks/Sticker button, but on the Mac version, after clicking the same button nothing happens, can't find these stickers anymore. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.
I'm a real beginner at video editing, and since I upgraded my iMac to Monterey from El Capitan, iMovie, (which I thought was great for my needs), doesnt work properly, freezes, or painfully slow, or both, so tried a couple of others and so far this looks like the best...in my limited opinion. Though it looks different on my screen, (is that an ugrade?), but hopefully everything there. Thanks for the tutorial.
Thank you Justin. I have tried Power Director and Kinemaster, and the layout with VN seems far more logical and intuitive. For basic editing, do you think this is the best? Also do you know when it will be available for Windows?
Fantastic tutorial I can't be more happy. How I can fix the music background of a given video? The music seem distorted at certain parts and thinking to copy a good clip of the sound to replace the broken sound clip. How is that possible? Or replace the entire audio clip with the correct music file. How?
Having transferred about 37 video8 tapes to digital I tested several free video editors both on windows and Macbook OS and never quite found an easy way to edit them. Until you presented VN editor, that is. It is really quick and fairly simple to use. For home video it is the best, imo👍and your tutorials are great. Thanks! One Q: my recordings are mono, one channel only. I would like to enable to duplicate the sound track to both channels. Iss this possible?
Amazing tutorial. So to the point! You can easily feel overwhelmed with so many apps out there. Totally user-friendly for beginners. When I speed up my video I am losing the original sound. Is there a way to speed up the clip and still keep the original sound and then add extra music or over voice with possibility to keep original sounds.
That was brilliant Justin! Very timely so thank you. (I have a question about the repurposing a clip but don't want that to be a distraction from the main goal so will tap you/someone up about that in the group another time!!). Cheers. Colin

Dragging clips to the timeline is hit or miss. Sometimes the clip will drag down to the timeline and sometime nothing will happen. Whats even more frustrating is that while you are trying to drag the clip to the timeline it will instead open in full screen requiring you to hit the esc button and try again and again. Unfortunately there is no keyboard shortcut to add a clip to the end of the timeline. Overall its quite a frustrating tool. It took me twice the amount of time to create a 15 minute video in VN than it did in Filmora.
Hi Justin, thanks for this tutorial. I downloaded the app onto my android phone based on your editor of the year video. I'd like to ask how we can implement a little animated subscribe button to appear at the beginning? Do we use templates or just a title? I'd like to add a subscribe button with my thumbnail on it. How do we do that? Thanks!! 😊
Great, helpful video! Thanks. The only thing I haven’t been able to figure out is when I have 2 or 3 separate video clips that I want to combine into 1 video, there are no plus signs between each clip so I can’t add a transition between them. I add them in the order I want them but can’t add a transition between them to make them flow better. What am I doing wrong?
This is good if you are using on a big screen or a computer. I tried to use on my smartphone, and it´s rather difficult to adjust the right point I want to cut or trim a clip, because the arrows on the screen are too small for the fingers and there´s no keyboard attached to my phone, so that I can precisely trim at the correct point. I tried to sync a recording I made with my smartphone with the external audio I captured with an external audio recorder just to have a better sound. Synchronize them is a pain, we don´t see the exact 2 places to let them be perfectly aligned. So, for just cut some clips it´s fine, but to use professionaly on a smartphone, far away from a computer is a pain.
@@manorhouse3556 And there's a serious problem with this editor: We can't raise the audio volume level for more than 100% which is the actual volume. Nor landscape option to choose interface... Terrible !!!
Hi Justin, Love your content thank you for sharing this with the community ! One quick question on VN edtitor : I could not find how you can extract just a clip from the timeline. I'd like to be ableo to have a full video and then "slice" it in pieces for social media. Is there an easy way to cut out bites from VN timeline ?
Hi Justin, While playing the video in vn for editing it is very slow Am using 8GB Ram and windows. Can you explain me the problem.. Hope you will reply me.. Btw your tutorial is super easy to grab, once my problem is solved I am super excited to edit my videos.. Thanks in advance..!
Great tutorial Justin! I am creating a slideshow with music of about 60 jpgs. I would like to know if I can change all to 2 seconds, down from the default 3.5 seconds. Or do I need to adjust each one manually?
Oh gosh. That’s literally why I’m on this video 😅 I was using the free app / video editor called InShot, but the export fails every time! My first 3 videos were fine, but the 4th one won’t export no matter what I do. So now I’m wanting to switch apps to VN Video Editor. Did you figure out why your video fails??
Hmmm... I'm trying to make a video that is basically just pictures & subtitles... I assume you get to create/choose a thumbnail based on a video frame in youtube or is it seperate??

Thank you for this wonderful tutorial, this is the only one worth watching for me as I didn't learn anything from other tutorials. I'm able to do lot of stuff in half an hour starting from scratch. One feature I don't see is the speed icon, should it be in the menu where crop delete etc are as I don't see speed over there. Its a very important feature I want to learn it.
Thank you so much, Justin! I have just edited my first video ever and I'm really thinking in crediting you in the end. Those tips were awesome. You've made it seem so easy. Thanks a lot! It was huge for me, man.

Still gathering info for an outdoors channel, that I'd like to create. Everything is very new. Can't thank you enough for what I've learned on your channel.
Thank you. Very educational. I'm struggling to figure out which video editor actually has the features I need. There has to be a better way than individually testing each one.
I like this cause I can use it in all my Apple devices. I have been using proesssional editors abd I have a couple of questons: - can you add more tracks? Audio or video or voice over, animations etc? _ There seems to be one overlay track only. Can you adjust the transparency of it? - I do a lotta greenscreen shots, there was no mention of masks or Green / Bluescreen? - Can you reverse a clip? - Can you add sublitetles or just use those templates, bubles and stuff? - Isware of this price, but are there any workarounds this somehow "online" thing or can you use it off-line? I mean is it easy that someone can get to the stock material which was left out in edit?soft These I really like to know. I really hope someone takes me seriously and aswers. Maybe these functions are toocmuch for a software of his price, but please, gimme some answers. Yeah the tutorial was good. But I am asking about the product features.... Míkola McCole - I have a music studio and I have several video software for the video studio I am buildig, but everyone of them has something missing or something too much.. Here is one I made with Adobe Elements and I don´t like that software at all. ua-cam.com/video/ajsYp2BzJhA/v-deo.html Yours, Míkola McCole hyperfollow.com/mikola
Hello Justin. I only want to thank you for this tutorial on vn video editor that I first listen one Month Ago. Since Thörn the Vn editor is my primary choice on my IPhone and IPad. I want to read what comment you have to this: On my Android smartphone I can not Edit à project With clips in both portraits and landscape format. With my my IPhone I can do this easiely . Now with my new IPad With Ipad IOS 15,6 I can Edit in landscape format which is not possible With my two smartphones. With them I can only Edit with my Phone in portray mode
You should make a video for VN video editor on how to actually post the video on UA-cam because I need help on it and other people may need it too. But first, your recommendations for VN video editor in a other video and this video was super helpful for my channel!

Amazing tutorial it solve my all problems. Thank you Justin. Love from India 🇮🇳🇮🇳
You're welcome - so awesome to hear that 😃
Thank you. Very educational. I'm struggling to figure out which video editor actually has the features I need. There has to be a better way than individually testing each one.
I'm learning a lot from you as a beginner UA-camr.
Thanks - glad to hear that 🙏
Hi,
Can you tell me how to insert a clip in between two existing clips on IOS. Thank you for your help
I like this cause I can use it in all my Apple devices. I have been using proesssional editors abd I have a couple of questons:
- can you add more tracks? Audio or video or voice over, animations etc?
_ There seems to be one overlay track only. Can you adjust the transparency of it?
- I do a lotta greenscreen shots, there was no mention of masks or Green / Bluescreen?
- Can you reverse a clip?
- Can you add sublitetles or just use those templates, bubles and stuff?
- Isware of this price, but are there any workarounds this somehow "online" thing or can you use it off-line? I mean is it easy that someone can get to the stock material which was left out in edit?soft
These I really like to know.
Here is one I made with Adobe Elements and I don´t like that software at all. ua-cam.com/video/ajsYp2BzJhA/v-deo.html

Now with my new IPad With Ipad IOS 15,6 I can Edit in landscape format which is not possible With my two smartphones. With them I can only Edit with my Phone in portray mode
