Yeah, makes sense, but it's okay, as long as you can enjoy some good heavy riffs, mighty choruses, and MAJOR breakdowns. Alpha Wolf and Left to Suffer almost always hit the spot for me in that regard.

Gothic metal- for me to fantasize about a fictional romance that probably won’t happen.
I was never able to truly title myself metalhead, just calling myself overall rock enjoyer because when it comes to metal I listen to Power Metal, Nu metal and older classic Heavy Metal (Iron Maiden probably my favorite) and I was never able to listen to any more extreme subgenres of metal. I am glad Power Metal fandom is kinda well described here, its pretty chill.
Same, i have been able to listen to the more extreme ones, but they're kind of iffy for me
my metalcore/deathcore playlist is literally named "one-man moshpit in my bedroom" 💀💀

Death metal seems pretty innovative at the tech and prog ends. I only just got into it proper this year but it feels like it has caught up to Ron jarzombek by now and the sound is pretty diverse by now

As someone who’s a Nü-Metal / Nü-Metalcore dude, both had me rolling.
Symphonic and Groove are pretty accurate too.
Mathcore was accurate, honestly an issue i have with grind and other weird song structure genres is that theyre hard to remember and recall in your head cause theyre so weird yk? Still love my grind math and pv tho. GOOD VIDO
powermetal is fuckin dope. i love Herman Lee's videos about other genres of music. he seems like a great guy. i like any band nerdy enough to make songs about dragons, wizards, etc.

Ok... this was good. Funny as hell and true.
I still check out new bands from Hells Headbangers, Dark Descent, 20BS, etc BUT being 33 now, I feel that I reached a saturation point with most metal. Took it as far as I could. Been a fan since 2003 but most new releases don't stick with me as much as the first time I heard Toxic Holocaust, Evil Army, Sodom or Demolition Hammer back in 2006. I've listened to everything from thrash, blackthrash, deathrash, florida death metal, death/doom, NWOBHM, power metal, industrial metal, noise, black metal, war metal, metalcore, hard-core, crust punk, death grind, prog, fucking southern rock and everything under the God damn sun. Been to Germany (Wacken/Keep It True), France, Portugal, MDF, etc and made many metal penpals throughout the years. I still buy stuff but not too many bands stick except for Molder, Enforced, Dungeon Serpent, Witchtrap, Worm (death metal Limbonic Art), etc. We tend to gravitate most to what we heard in our youth the most. The same applies to kids just hearing something like 200 Stab Wounds for the first time. Thats how Avenger of Blood and Merciless Death were for me in the retro thrash era. I completely get it when it comes to folks preferences. Lots of great memories and I'm not ashamed of any of it. God damn, I'm just fucking old lol.

Nu-metal fan here and he ain’t wrong lol. Mostly because I can’t find anything that has groove like this genre did. I mean I like most metal like metalcore and Deathcore now, and have been listening to Pantera the most lately, but the closest I can get to my love of the feeling I get from listening to Nu-metal, is listening to breakdowns in metalcore and Deathcore. But that happens for almost every generation since Elvis. You just end up sticking to bands you grew up listening to because it does bring us back to the good old days. 🤷🏻♂️🍻

@@TheMetalTempestYT I frequently have people telling me that a lot of the metal that I listen to isn't real metal. It always cracks me up when they start recommending things or mansplaining. Lol. Like just because I mainly listen to slower, gloomy sounding metal doesn't mean that I don't occasionally throw down to heavier stuff. Like hell, I spent most of my teens and early adulthood hanging out at metal venues up in Alaska thrashing about in the pit and stuff when deathcore was first really starting to take off. Idk. I'm kinda high and rambling 🤷🏻♀️ Long story short; I spent so long seeking heavier and heavier music that I eventually hit the ceiling. Now I mainly just vibe and listen to all of the music that I actually enjoyed from throughout the course of my 31 years of existence, most of which being melodeath or doom-adjacent subgenres.

I like most kinds to at least some extent, though I think my three favorites are power metal, avant-garde metal, and prog metal (I'm throwing in nu metal and djent in for the last two respectively since they're basically the same but with a nu name, get it?). Being someone whose favorite genre has always been thrash metal and of his top 5 personal favorite bands is Paradise Lost I cried from laughs with Homes staring in my eyes while the secret was being revealed.
