Brendon Small is a metal god, no joke.
I saw Dethklok last week - KILLER show.
I hope to meet him and jam with him one day!
"If yous gots a good guitars and a goods amps, everythings else is your faults
pfft"
he's such a cool and personable guy
I like Brendon Small he seems more down to earth than other metal gods meaning he shows his true personality on or off camera unlike others who seem more like "yeah its me from certain band on camera and i need to look badass"
I don't know about the first tour, but on the Dethalbum II tour he was fucking perfect. Best stage presence anyone could ever have, and still funny as fuck. I never thought I'd see it, but pickles, swisgaar and nathan all had an arguement on stage... coming from only him... it was fucking awesome
"If you have an o.k. guitar & an o.k. amp, everything else is your fault." That's f-ing brilliant, & I'm not even into this guy or Dethklok. Just bored & surfin'....
damn, this man is a genious
Wow. Today is April 30 2016 and going back to these "vintage" rig rundowns is kinda funny. Seeing Jordan again is like seeing Martha Quinn on early MTV videos! Classic. And now what are we at? DethAlbum 4?
Six String Löve
Wow this dude is a beast big fan of his music amazing guitar player I don’t care what anyone says
So many folks bag on the Boss EQ. One of this sickest tones I've ever had was a Marshall JCM 2000 TSL with the Boss 7 band eq at the front and a Decimator after. I think the JCM 2000 TSL is better than the KK 800. The TSL has more balls, gets louder.
this video is awesome. he said huge multi fx processors sound horrible. its true. i learned the hard way that bigger isnt better in that aspect.
CooL NOW IT COMES WITH AUDIO YESS
Killer rig from an awesome player
Nice video thanks
He always gives really good tips. It would be cool if he would do an instructional sometime in the future.
Pfffft, novice. I ONLY use carbontanium nanotube strings and tune dropped -Πflat.
You guys should do Runrig's Rig Rundown!
It’s funny because the guitar I play is explorers and learned on a 1988 hohner scorpion with select emg pickups and a locking steinberger tremolo lol
I was at the concert this was recorded at :3
I was at this show!
lol this guy is fuckin beast. It's like he just rolled out from under a dumpster in New York.
@oncetaken Indeed, definitively to play with distorsion mr.Marshall is our best friend!
In the words of Sam Kinison: "Good answer...good answer, I'll be watching you."
I like his jacket.
@Griffith101 I hope he keeps the Gibson endorsement. )))) I've even heard they were gonna make his signature model of Gibson. It's probably gonna be Explorer.
absolutely correct
bring back Home Movies Brendon!!!
They are on tour right now. Is there any chance you can do a new one with both guitar players?
Kranks sound just like peaveys, but more expensive. And the Marshalls work great for dethklok, I saw the tour, and I think the new recordings are being done with them.
I didnt know coach McGurk played guitar
he looks very humble infront of that camera... L9323 that's very true
Does anybody know that model of RIVERA foot switcher that Brendan is speaking of in this episode?
He still does, just on select guitars
Is the CAE wah available ONLY as a custom order? I know the custom in the nam is in the name of the company, but is there a commercially available CAE Wah?
@L9323 I read your quote in Nathan's voice.
@JohnathenDavis ha thats just how he looks hes a really chill guy he loves his job he even said it was his dream job it combines his musicianship and his love of comedy whats stressful about that, and dethalbum was the highest ever billboard rating for a death metal album i doubt stress is an issue he just looks like that
@JerkyChid
Well you both are right in a way. Can you
use 13's for Eb? Of course. Is that what most
people would consider extremely tense?
Yes it is. And I would like to point out that
its odd you would use 14-62s for C standard
but 13s in Eb as that will cause a very big
difference in how the strings feel to you.
I know I prefer to have everything feel about the same.
Personally I like the feel of 10s in standard
so I choose all string gauges to feel the same.
@TheMetalGuy01 Um, no. SRV used 13s tuned to Eb, which is like using 12s in standard.
he actually said that he uses skinny top heavy bottom gauge (10-52)
dethklok dethklok dethklok!
you know.. dethklok is the best band ever the world just doesn't know that yet
@MrGuitarhunter well cuz i want some tht go up to like 60's or 70's
well it could be his reverb or something else i dont have have a phaser and i get the same exact sound of the leads
@jamesha175 lol SRV used like 16's and he could bend pretty well, and he played in E standard...
where can i get thick ass strings? cuz the music shop here has i think 13-54's as their thickest
@tehwasabiking lol my mistake then, but still the strings would be tight as hell
@bobilly lol, someone told me that at one point he did use 16's. my bad.
@AlienWorkshopxXx any internet music store. also you can just mix and match 10s with that 54 that you get at your local shop
he didn't digitally enhance it, he just changed his voice a bit for the second one to make it sound more "aggresive"
@curshbob
D'Addario but many companies make thick strings
This guy kinda reminds me of Devin Townsend for some reason.
look on season 3... brendan uses marshall now
@JerkyChid Thats as high as they go!!??
So he is that one guy who actually likes the baseball necks, I'm shocked.
i love him
oh i talked to marshal, and i had them send me a kerry king head
hes fucking god
I use 13s in half step down/Eb/E flat/D#/D sharp
It's all the same thing.
How long have you been playing guitar? lol
That's exactly what I said..
Don't forget the GLab wah pad so you don't have to stomp on it all the time
he says he doesn't use this phaser on the new record...that could be true, but, its a lie to say he doesn't use one at all...most of his solos on Dethalbum II implement alot of phaser and noises...
@bluesensationist Skwisgaar: yous gots to have thriteenz gauge stringz for low c.
toki: butz thick gauge stringz hurtz my fingerz!
nathan : but its BRUTAL!!!!!!
thats a really deep voice coming from brendon small
for drop d only
So Small's not using EMGs anymore?
haha these guys were funny at mayhem about a week ago. all 3 bands before them had this BIG over the top stage setup then dethklok came on with only a marshal stack and other little amps ha but the funnier thing is they were the loudest.
Kerry King head??? I thought he played Krank amps.
oh
It's Kevin Spacey!
sorry to burst your bubble but Myself and Stevie ray Vaughn used 13 in E standard...so have fun with that miss information and such
i've got16s on my esp
sure hope you didnt skip Kurt Ballou of Converge....
Kerry King is ams da most brutal guitar player evers!
I'll take that as a yes lmao
14-62s Actually
14-68 for B
Fuck that shit i use 13s in stantard E
murderface: YEAH!
Same. Apparently I learned that you can call a note by different names and you didn't. You sure you've been playing for 5 years? lol
No they aren't; I've used them in that tuning for a a long while now and my have actually held up better.
@matthewrotherham
either that or tired as all hell like after show
lol i thought he switched to marshall cause theyre on the show instead of krank
Who else googled the Epiphone Spotlight and wanted to buy it? LoL.
deathclock ?
fucking 13s lol i thought i was brutal as hell when i went up to 11s
he looks like jeremey piven lol
@jamesha175 they dnt sound any different.. :/ i want chunky chunky noise
he wanted Rebecca...lol
If you don't use cable wires you are not being brutal enough.
13-56 in C? that would be so light to me, I use that for half step down
hell yeah if you want a mtal amp that saten him self put his seed in the kfk head in the way to go
5:40 ALABAMA THUNDERPUSSY!
@chainsawteddybear He's just stressed from the shows, writing music and stuff for the show. You can even see his eye bags. He is way too inivative to be on anything.
he looks buzzed.
hahha he doesnt even look like a guitarist i like that
I like how you think that's a fact xD. You fail to realise that music (and music gear) is subjective.
Ooh sounds like I struck a nerve using knowledge.
Opinion? The only opinion given was that I prefer different gauges than what most use and that you should know more about terms and such due to your 5 years of experience.
Being more knowledgeable on a particular subject gives me plenty of say.
Why? Is teaching punishable by death?
Gotta have effects without effects you'll be outside robbing someone. Nothing to do but, be bored
Maybe he forgot lol.
4666th view \m/
Treble's so low.
boo its all about rivera dude
he talks like he's on drugs.lol. XD
He didn't really seem to be much of a gear head.
The metal god that dresses like a hobo....still a metal god though....
hobos are brutal
He looks like bill hicks :\
It's a vicious cycle... play nothing but 13s for a few months and you find playing anything less just isn't the same, sound or feel wise. You buy a guitar and rush it home to get the awful super-mega-jazz-slinky strings off so you hear hear what it REALLY sounds like! God help you if you pick a bass guitar up with 65s on it... you come back to your now puny guitar and it feels like a child's toy, 13s or not! Great fun! They sure take some getting used to though...
