What i love about Metalocalypse is that the music isn't half assed. Brendon Small actually writes just like a regular Death Metal musician. Even the lyrics are on point with brutal death metal while still being thought out in a clever manner.

All of the guys in Between the Buried and Me are big jazz nerds, but you'd never be able to tell from their music... well... the style of it, at least. Honestly, I love that the hardest music in the world, today, is usually written by guys that are like, "Yeah... Saw Anthrax, Death Angel, and Testament about 3 years ago in Indianapolis. Gene Hoglan was playing with Testament and when Anthrax's drummer couldn't get a visa out of europe, Gene filled in for him that night. Just an incredible drummer! Was a kickass show!
I met Gene at the Channel in Boston. Dark Angel was on the Time Does Not Heal tour. The singer Ron Reinhart had a broken arm because he dumped his Harley and the clutch handle went through the skin and pushed the elbow out. I walked over to Gene and we talked for a bit before he went on. He was using a rented drumkit from the band EZO. Of course he fucking nailed it! They all did. Brett Hoffman, from the band Viking, had just joined the band. Check out their album Man Of Straw. They were all amazing,. Eric Meyer and Brett worked very well together. And of course us old Dark Angel fans will always remember Eric and Jim Durkin playing so well together. There was a rumor that ex singer Don Doty was there that night but i didn't see him,.
Brendon you fuck! Youve captured the heart of all beginner guitar players around the world and *don't even know it* ! 18:29! We all feel shitty compared to the actual professionals we listen to daily . We will never match the skill until we believe in what *practice* is. What's truly amazing is that he has come up with two of my favorite shows of all time, and one of them is like doing a television show AND a bunch of pretty sweet metal on top of it.
He's stated before that the songs in season 1 and 2 were kind of on-the-spot for the episodes. Gene would play the drums and he would come up with a riff on the spot and they'd use it. That's pretty awesome considering most of those songs made it onto the albums
Sebastian Sarria he’s no Joe Bonamassa but with a few more years I’m sure Brendan will come around, never heard of him till today. He’ll probably do okay in Europe if he gets signed, we’ll see. You have a link to his bands social media?
I would love to hear all the music broken down in parts or the instrumentals separated just to see how much work Brendon put into it. Man is a musical genius.

to all the people hate on Brendon Small, he created a show in which the genre is looked down upon by people because of its subject matter, AND IT WORKED. Apparently a movie is supposed to be coming out this year to finish off the series entirely but I’m not sure if it’s actually gonna happen, praying it does though.
Tracking guitars is the bane of my existence but it's what i live for. I empathise completely about how precisely parts have to be tracked. I can easily spend over 300 takes trying to get down a small riff that sounds flawless. Doesn't help that i'm a perfectionist either, but then again that's what you have to be if you want a professional sounding track, gosh i hate lazy recordings.
It’s tedious, but it makes you a better musician. Last time I played with a real drummer he was surprised by how fast we got things tight. I owe all of that to tracking.
Dethalbum III was good, but not as good as Dethalbum II. THAT is the album that Brandon outdid himself on. I think he over-thought this album. It just didn't have the feeling the other 2 did. Still love it though, DIE FOR DETHKLOCK!!!

I love what Brendon Small and [adult swim] Metapocalypse, Dethklok is doing for metal. Its been a long time since I've heard metal on the lips of people. The music is a true art.
You know, I think the fact that the songs are rushed is partly the reason why they come out soooooo good. Your not sitting there overthinking every single sound and tone, your essentially forcing the song to stay simple, and the first initial thought of how you think the song should sound ends up being exactly what the song is. I think it's perfect and I love it
Why is he making the music if he doesn't appear happy? Most likely because he has a shit ton of fans who are ravenous for more dethklok and metalocalypse; and maybe, just maybe, he wants to provide for his fanbase.
Like Brendan said at the beginning of the video, he had a shit load of things going on besides recording the album. He was working on season 4, writing songs, working on the animations. The dude was super swamped and probably exhausted throughout the entire process. I wouldn't doubt if he only slept a few hours a night.
This is amazing!!! Pretty sure I've listened to Dethalbum 3 more than any other record in my life, and to hear the individual parts and see the process... So incredible! This album is just pure genius all the way. Can't say it enough!! Oh, does anyone know what the sign that flashes in the end animation says?? It's red writing and says something about 3 days... I kept trying to pause it but couldn't get the right spot.
What i love about Metalocalypse is that the music isn't half assed. Brendon Small actually writes just like a regular Death Metal musician. Even the lyrics are on point with brutal death metal while still being thought out in a clever manner.

I think it's perfect and I love it
It’s great to see someone bringing other creatives together to make the best thing possible, dope
Ugh I can't believe how long ago this show 1st came out. Good times.
what song is the riff 17:14
from
The hammer
Awesome band! It's like Gojira meets Queen
This music is likes potato chips. I can't stop listening to it.
You listen to your potato chips?
Love the contributions made by Hoglan, Beller and Keneally... well done guys!

dude did the guy at 11:00 play the voice of Shrimply Pibbles on Rick and Morty?!
Hampton Rogers That would be Werner Herzog and he was the voice of the alien that talked about how humans find there penises funny.
Yes, he did. Good catch, haha
That was pretty god damn interesting, thanks for uploading it.
The Mozart of metal!
Mr. Gene God Damn Hoglan Bad Ass drummer for Testament
5:18
Jeez brendan.
That _downstroke picking_
Oh baby
Crush the industry. One of my favorites
18:54 *Skwisgaar:* modal guitar, selective note choice, harmonic minor, natural sevens on a minor, melodic minor
*Toki:* pentatonic
17:44 sounds like it could be from Legend of Zelda :)
lol that would be cool
Jose Lopez The Legend of Zelda: Link Gets Brutal And Shreds Hyrule To Bits
I saw Bryan Beller with the Aristocrats and he's one badass on the bass. The dude can play it all. With Vai, with Satriani, with Dethklok...badass
8:20 Brendon owns a Buckethead Signature Les Paul??! AWESOME
I can't believe Charles is Brendan's default voice

Holly mother of... Werner Herzog...
