My every day carry is a Glock 42 with Trijicon HD XR Night Sights and a 9 round ETS magazine fitted with an XGRIP for a full three-finger grip. I load the magazine with 8 rounds maximum, plus one in the chamber, to ensure 100% reliability. Ammo of choice is Underwood Extreme Penetrator 380+P. This combination has very little recoil, is very controllable and EXTREMELY accurate! I carry it 24/7 in a pocket holster and honestly it's so light and compact that I forget it's there. The best self-defense pistol is the one you never leave home without!

I typically carry my G26, but I just ordered a G42 for deep concealment if I ever need it. I never shot one, but it’s a Glock so I’m sure I’ll like it.
That’s what I like the most about Glock, the consistency!

I went the same route that you're about to start. Just a piece of advice, 380s are generally less reliable than 9s. The 42 has a break in period unlike other Glocks so, if it starts to hiccup don't get discouraged. Mine did and I worked the slide and lock it back for a day and switched ammo. After that it became absolutely reliable no matter what ammo I put through it. Shot it today ,in fact, and so far I've accumulated nearly 1400 rounds with zero malfunction. Lastly, the Pierce +1 mag extenders are the best accessory you can buy for these.

Had a Glock 42 and currently have the P365-380. I would characterize modern 380 guns as more ammo sensitive. Find a brand, grain size, etc that the gun likes and stick with it. JHP is also something to watch. G42 was good with most ammo but jammed easier due to grip. Sig runs better, but is a bit more sensitive with HPs. Once you get good grip and theright ammo, gun will generally run great. I only dumped the 42 cuz I hated the trigger.

I put grip tape on mine and it solved the grip issue. My major issue is it's thinness. I'm pretty use to it now so no problems, it just felt weird in the hand after shooting thicker pistols. As far as reliability is concerned, after I wore it in a little, it gobbles up everything including the stuff it choked on before. I'm glad you're 365 is going good for you. I've tried the 365 in 9mm and I'm sticking to the G26. For me it's a better shooter even though it's thicker. @@virtus12ful

@@gunbutter830 I always recommend that people rack their gun and dry fire 100's of times before lubricating and before taking them to the range for the first time. It's amazing how rough brand new guns can be sometimes and how much they smooth out and loosen up just from racking and dry firing. Snap caps are good to have too. Most modern guns can dry fire endlessly without breaking, but I just don't take the risk. I've seen many good "safe to dry fire" guns break from dry firing. I also take any new magazine, take it apart, deburr, hone and polish any sharp or jagged edges and square up the magazine spring coils.. and then I clean and lubricate them (usually with dry lube). It really helps a lot, especially with aftermarket mags.

I picked up a 42 for a deep concealment / walking in the neighborhood firearm. Or like you said for when I’m visiting anti gun family members (not by choice).
Everyone I know who has shot a 42 loves it and when I shot it last I was shocked at how low recoil it is compared to other .380s like the LCP max.

I like my g42. Ive had a few issue with feeding hollows. So I carried fmj for awhile. One day I decided to try some more HP and went with hornaday critical defense, haven't had any feeding problems unless I catch myself assisting it back into battery loading the +1 in the chamber.

My Glock 42 has been super reliable. Of course I fell for the “more capacity” hype and picked up the P365 380. When you finally find ammo that it shoots without issues (Ammo Inc 100gr) it’s a great gun. Just know that more isn’t always better. 7 reliable rounds or 11 let’s see how this goes rounds🤷🏻‍♂️

    • @gunbutter830

I put Pierce +1 mag ex on mine. It's "functionally" just as concealable IMO. So it's a 7+1 now. I don't fret the mag capacity at all. We sent soldiers to war multiple times with a 7 rd mag and thought them well armed. I also concur with assertion that the 42 is dead nuts reliable.

I own the Glock 42 and love it. I have really small hands. I love the fact that I can get back on target quicker than with my 9 mm. The only issues I have with it was due to not cleaning it before shooting first time. Use Underarmour defense ammunition, due to better ballistics results, with no problems.

I bought mine 3 weeks ago. On my first and only trip to the range, I put 32 rounds through mine and had 29 stovepipes. It was sent back to Glock the same day I bought it. In my last 40 years of shooting, this is by far the most unreliable gun I've ever owned. I'm hoping this G28 gets returned soon, performing like a Glock. I would trust my life to a Lorcin, Phoenix Arms and any other Saturday Night special before this G28. I'm sure if it was made in Austria it perform like my other Glicks. In short this gun is worse than the worst Taurus.
