Bright Morning Star - Squatrito (2010 Maine All-State Choir)

I meant to upload this last year, but never got around to it.
Bright Morning Star is a traditional Kentucky Appalachian folksong, arranged by Fred Squatrito in 1937. The 2010 Maine All-State Choir spent quite a while trying to get this down-packed, while under the direction of Dr. Jonathan Talberg. Did we pull it off? :-)

My high school choir sang the exact same version of this song back in 2004. I have been looki g for it since then. Thank you so much for posting this, truly fulfilled a part of me with peace. Amaxing song.

No way! Dr. Talberg is the chambers choir director at Cal State Long Beach where I go. And I'm singing this in the choir class I'm in. What a coincidence :)

Personally, I love 1:27 to the end. I mean, the whole thing is pretty, but I got chills whenever singing the "Oh where are our dear fathers" part.

@live2skate4 For real? That's awesome! Haha I feel bad, cuz there's only one picture of him in this video, at 2:14, but whatevz. I'm extremely jealous that you get to work with him though! I'd die for another chance to be under his direction. That's cool that you're singing this song, too. It's powerful as hell, if ya sing it correctly. ;-) Post a video/recording of the performance, if you get a chance! I'd love to hear it.

@singplaylaughlove9 Actually he's not the director for the choir that I'm in right now haha :( next semester I will be under his wing though! But I'm sure we'll have some video somewhere of it. We're doing it in about 3 weeks or so. But I'm in Men's choir (which isn't very elite lol) so we'll see how it goes. Next semester I'll be in the epic University Choir in which he is the director.
