I’m starting French Horn this week actually. I play several instruments, but this will be my first brass instrument, and when I tried it out recently I was so impressed the beauty of the instrument that I immediately signed up to learn it. Very much excited!
The great thing about John Williams is that if you're a fan of his work, you don't need to look at the video to know what song is playing because you can tell just based on the themes that are playing. Nice Work
I constantly listen to this, I love the French horn sound. It has the most beautiful sound to come from a wind instrument. John Williams was a brilliant composer, one of the best soundtrack composers of all time. Whenever I want to feel uplifted and relaxed at the same time, I pull up this video. Thank you so much for your amazing ability to play the French Horn.
I remember seeing your original 2008 version of this and was blown away. You’re so unbelievably talented. Absolutely beautiful arrangement of the most prolific composer’s best work. Thank you for creating this, Marc.
Incredible. As a horn player for 4 years this unbelievable. You are truly amazing. This is how the horn is supposed to sound, and you execute that perfectly. Also my favorite one here is A. I.
Must be using the B-flat trigger. Gives him a whole extra Perfect 4th to play with. Either that, or he's using a Descant Horn, where the F side is tuned 1 octave higher than on a normal double-horn.
I have been playing horn for almost nine years now, and John Williams is my favorite composer. How did it take me until only a month or two ago to find this?? This is fantastic!
As a former trumpet player who switched to horn, i am very impressed at how amazing the tone quality is. My tone always sounds to brassy and sounds like a trumpet...
Absolutely love these videos. As a young horn player it is super inspiring to hear how amazing horn can be at an advanced level. My one question is: Was this all done in one take or did you piece together the songs and transitions? Obviously you layered the parts on top of one another. But did you play each straight through?
Words can not describe how cool this is! Thank you so much for sharing. Personally, I think if there was a way to get this in front of John, he'd love it! Maybe get a horn quartet together and play it outside his house in LA? Again, thank you much. This is great!
First time I heard this I wanted to get the sheet music and I looked through the comments and saw that you weren't able to distribute it then, but now everyone can see your favorite parts from what John Williams wrote and a few extra parts of your own. Amazing job.
Thanks for putting the score down below! I've been wanting to try and play some of this ever since I first found it and having the score below is perfect. I love how you play; your range and tone are astounding! To top it all off your arrangement is beautiful!
Marc. I’ve been watching this since it came out and I’ve never EVER watched a video of Horn better than this, your Disney medley coming close tho. I am still inspired by you. And this weekend I am playing Star Wars songs as well as others, for an all district band camp. Thank you for inspiring me. ❤️
@@Marc_Papeghin i had a lot of fun. don’t know if you still check comments on this video, but it still inspires me. i’m now an aspiring music ed major. i want to make music my career, and you were one of my reasons.
@@Marc_Papeghin also, how in the world do you play such high notes? i cant get above an A on horn without it sounding squeaky. practice is helping, but any tips?
I've been trying to have it published for years but since I used music from more than 20 movies all managed by different companies it turned out to be pretty difficult ( not to say impossible ) to make it happen.. So I've taken the decision to publish selected pieces from it, the first one being Somewhere In My Memory from Home Alone. It's now available for horn duet and quartet, as a full-length version based on the segment from this medley! ► Horn Duet : www.sheetmusicplus.com/title/somewhere-in-my-memory-french-horn-duet-digital-sheet-music/20421132?aff_id=553715 ► Horn Quartet : www.sheetmusicplus.com/title/somewhere-in-my-memory-french-horn-quartet-digital-sheet-music/20420821?aff_id=553715
If the E.T. Part had words to go with the amazing music it would be"Hi my name is Elliott I.." "Have a best friend he's an alien" "No don't think it is that weird!" "If you did how could you do that!" "He even made my own bike fly" "he is the best thing that has happened to me" "E.T.-phone-home" that's all I got .(I don't want to mention anything about E.T. Going home or else it's going to make me cry....😢) I wish E.T. Could have just stayed with me them
Me and some of my friends in band are having a little competition with playing some pop culture, and we’ve just moved onto Star Wars. Time to bm them with this beauty
Fantastic as always! :D The scrolling sheet is a nice addition too. I don't know why, but 'somewhere in my memory' and 'fawkes the phoenix' always move me, and just yesterday I saw the movie with the best Williams' soundtrack in my opinion, Hook!
I admire your musicality and playing so much! I have done some recording like this, playing more than one part, and I know how incredibly difficult it is. Kudos!
I’m completely speechless right now. U’re so good at playing! I wish I was u😭 I’m first chair in my jr high but I can only play up to a B flat above the staff
Well I've been playing for 25 years now ( I started at 8 and I'm now 33 ! ) It took me years to be really comfortable in the high register, but the more you play and practice, the easier it'll get ;) For me it was all about playing a lot in many different genres, always trying and pushing my limits ! Also don't be afraid to play things which aren't part of the traditional "horn repertoire", it's a good way to develop your technique :)
Marc Papeghin thank you so much for the advice! So impressive how you’ve been playing for so long! I purchased a couple of sheet music and i feel like it’s really helped me with my technique!
I've been waiting for another one of these! Thank you so much for this amazing video. It was you who inspired me to become a horn player. If you're taking any recommendations, can you please make a tribute to Hans Zimmer. Thanks again!
Really late but me and the other horns at the my highschool might play this for our "online section song"! We're going to do pretty much what you do with syncing audio together but I've wanted to play this for so long since I first heard it a long time ago so it's quite exciting for me

There is no instrument more fitting for a John Williams tribute than French horn.
Well said ;)
john williams always did a good job on the french horns. even though he is a trombone player
@@b24liberator19 Yes! It takes a skilled composer to write for horn.
People NOT bullying the French Horn? Warms my heart, I get threats because I'm playing it.
@@GSG8532I KNOW RIGHT
John Williams’ favorite instrument was clearly the French Horn.
I mean, my high school music teacher did always tell us the rest of the band was there to support the French horn section...lol
That teacher is doing the lord’s work.
Mine made us saxophone support :( French horns are so beautiful
I was just telling my wife that! My daughter starts this year. She is taking after her dad, in learning such a majestic instrument.

John Williams has written some of the most amazing music of all time. Thank you for paying tribute to him with a French horn medley.
And then i fall in love with the horn all over again
I could listen to this on repeat all day
At 9:36 is probably the best high note I've heard in a while.

I love how Chewbacca sings the high C at 7:17
Wow! Really immaculate playing, and I loved the inclusion of a scrolling score.
7:06 always brings me goosebumps...
My all time favorite scene in Star Wars
It's been at least 6 years since I played horn, and I can still remember the notes and how to play them. Oh man the memories
It’s been three years and I’m still loving and listening to this. Thank you so much
