I like how oda is kind of making parallel between momonosuke and bonney The opposite way, momo Was a child introduced to us and then by the end of the ark was forced To pretend to be an adult, bonney Is introduced to us as an adult (But really is forced to pretend to be an adult) And by the end of the ark I think she will feel Safe enough to revert back to her child form and the rest of her childhood freely!

It was slavery. Kuma did not want to see Bonney because Saturn promised that if Kuma saw Bonney, they worl make her a slave. That is a trauma thatKuma has and would not wish upon his daughter so he would not take that chance even if the chance is near 0.

Additionally, I think deep down Kuma think he's the one who make everyone around him suffer, and he fear to bring the same fate of others he loved to Boney if he try to approach her after she's cured. He might also worried about Vegapunk or people in Sorbet Kingdom if he break the promise.

I can imagine Kuma having an extremely heartfelt goodbye just before Saturn detonates his internal bomb only for Luffy to gear 5 rubberize Kuma, allowing Kuma to tank the explosion in a cartoonish fashion where his torso expands and smoke comes out his ears.
With how much buildup there is to Luffy being a liberator, it wouldnt make sense for Kuma to NOT be liberated on egghead.
Do you not think when luffy got into gear 5 and the armour got activated, it was all luffys powers and kuma was able to hop his consciousness into that armour?

Knowing japanese storytelling, I don't think there's a chance of Kuma's survival. The japanese love traumap*rn. Everything about Kuma's story is about smiling despite suffering. There's going to be a bittersweet ending where he sacrifices himself for the last time.
We haven't had a soul crushing death in current one piece timeline since marineford. Kuma's death is going to balance the strawhats' winning streak in the new world.

It was made clear the Gorosei were spying on Kuma and Vegapunk, however Kuma is special because he could just create a memory bubble, pass it to Vegapunk, then extract his response the same way.
This means there's still room for a secret deal between Kuma and Vegapunk, including the possibility the Strawhats are actually the top of the command chain, above the Gorosei - answering why Vegapunk didn't cheat… well he may actually just be waiting for the right moment to awaken all the Pacifista.
It's evident from the chapter that Dragon headed to Loguetown when he found out about Luffy. He seems extremely serious, with those lines in his eyes.
We're going to get some huge reveal about Dragon's relationship with Luffy and what he's actually been doing.
We know what his relationship is. It’s like Kuma. That’s made clear.

Maybe he knows about the prophecy, and that's why he looks so serious when he finds out Luffy has departed; he knows it's beginning.
There are are so many questions about Dragon. Oda has told us very little.
@@Mantis_Toboggan_TrashManit's like with Shanks we know very little about them because they're barely seen or talked about but I don't think Dragon knows as much as Shanks.
Shanks realized Luffy carries Rogers will so he made a bet, Dragon has only looked at Luffy from the shore line except for in Lougetown. I doubt Dragon knows what Luffy is capable of like Shanks, Rayleigh and Garp does because they practically raised him. But I do believe Dragon loves Luffy as his son and wants Luffy to live his life freely without restrictions, restrictions that the WG have placed.
It's possible that Kuma is concerned that any violation of the agreement could result in the World Government unleashing a multitude of forces against Bonnie (CP0 agents to Admirals), rather than just the "place a bounty on her and deal with her as they would any other pirate" approach that has been taken. After the deal was over, Saturn didn't even care about Bonney anymore, until she stab him. If he did learn that Kuma and Bonney met, he would hunt her down forever until making her a slave. Kuma would never take this risk, he accepted the deal to make sure that Bonnie was free.
do you remember the cover story when vegapunk invented a weapon that turned wepons into flowers? how about if at the moment saturn is triying to make kuma blow up instead of an explotion he gets a burst of flowers ? it would be amazing and hilarious, imagine saturn with the enel surprise face...lol

One thing I believe that most people get wrong is that Joyboy and Nika are not the same person. I believe Joyboy was just the last person to awaken the fruit but Nika definitely predates him.

The only thing I don't like about Luffy being Nika is that it falls in to the typical shōnen trope: main character is an underdog, but turns out that's a lie and they were always strong. Naruto and Ashura, Ichigo and the three races, and now Luffy going from rubber to a god!

Hey Joyboy, I see a lot of people struggling to make sense of Kuma's actions on Thriller Bark. You have to absorb two details from this chapter and last chapter. In this chapter Vegapunk implies that Kuma is part of the command hierarchy, just like the seraphim and other pacifista. Last chapter, Vegapunk told Kuma what it would be like to lose his autonomy. He would slowly lose emotions to the point he could even kill a child if commanded. Vegapunk specifically highlighted that scenario.
We know that only in special instances have Seraphim been shown to disobey orders. I think it probably would have been the same for Kuma in the late stage if his transformation. When he doesn't have commands, he has some level of autonomy, but whenever he receives a direct order, it likely takes a huge amount of willpower to defy it.
We can see Kuma softening his position the more he interacts with the crew. First he says he'll eliminate everyone, "easy". Then he just wants Luffy's head. Then he accepts Zoro's head instead. The actions of the Straw Hats gave him the will to stay his hand and defy his orders.
I like this. I almost wish Oda hadnt made the window smiling panel! I think it confused me

This explains how kuma is still able to move freely this late in the game, whilst still being 99% Cyborg of the WG.
@@JoyBoyTheories Oda has a talent for hiding important context in plain sight. I feel like a lot of people passed over what Vegapunk was saying because Kuma doing anything bad seems so out of character based on the flashback so far. But Vegapunk's point was that Kuma's character won't necessarily matter once he's received orders.
Tragically, Kuma's line about how many people he's negatively affected, may be his guilt for the things he did as a warlord surfacing just before the end. I can't imagine he resolved every situation as peacefully as the merchant vessel incident. Most loyal warlord isn't a high bar anything, but I don't think he got that title from just picking daisies. Not that I judge him for what he did.

How is that self destruction going to play out, I hope it's used on the Gorosei. I wonder if VP put that switch on Puma despite his instructions? Bonnie purpose ends at the death of Kuma, but finding Nikki following her father's dreams could work. Bonnie for SH. Love the thought that VP gives the TS a DF.

How can you mature if you're so focused on staying alive? Because of that people feel like they're younger then they should be so with your logic someone who's physically 20 but mentally feels like 16 would be a minor even though they've lived for 20 years.
Remember we, Vega, Saturn and few others know that she's 12 but the Straw hats don't nor does the other average folk so from their perspective it's not weird.
Also he's only drawing her in the "weird" positions when she's in her adult form which is legal. Oda is literally a father himself and he has a daughter that he loves dearly so I don't think he would sexualize child(physically) Bonney in any circumstances.

Bonney may be the key to extending/alternating luffys lifespan since his devil fruit drains it. Unless the purpose of it draining life was to kill him into awakening, thus voiding all prior drains. (Latter thought occurred as I typed)

Looking at Thriller Bark's theme and linking it to Kuma's presentation, I guess you could say that he is the real Frankenstein monster from One Piece. As it is known, the monster kills its creator, so I think it's safe to say that Kuma will kill either Vegapunk or Saturn until the end of Egghead
i wonder if bonney is going to join the straw hats in the same manner as Nico Robbin did. Bonneys existence is somewhat a taboo in the same regards as Nico Robbin in which she holds a lot of government secrets. we know luffy will do anything for a friend and him eventually learning about bonney and kuma story on top of that the government is "no longer concerned with bonneys life" im sure he will helping her and will want to protect her as a nakama.

If we do get anymore StrawHats, I think it should be Bonnie. I was on the Lillith train after Carrot didn't join, but Bonney really fits. Especially since she basically lived Kuma's entire life and knows the importance of Luffy. She can give the crew the Nika insight
My thoughts & opinions of the chapter:
1. I know most fans would like to return to the present, but if the chapter ended with Bonney crying after seeing Kuma's memories, then wouldn't the next chapter reveal how she & the other SH were able to stop York & save Vegapunk?
2. My only disappointment is that we never got the full reason why Kuma decided to send the SH to the places he visited (including Luffy going to Amazon Lily). However, I believe that either Vegapunk and/or Bonney will explain it to them, assuming they survive long enough to do so.
I kinda understand why the SHs got sent to the locations they were sent too. I don’t think they are as important as Luffy going to Amazon Lily but I’m sure that one will probably get explained later
I think Kuma didnt even think about it consciously. He just subconsiously sent them somewhere theyd like and either by fate or will they were able to use it for training

Kuma's past is something I never thought i'd want to see, it was so heartbreakingly moving. After seeing it i'm actually wondering if we'll get Akainu's past, he gives me a feeling he too went through something traumatic.

while listening to you about kuma gettin back his memory and its not being possible anymore i just remembered what VP said last chapter: He wanted to leave a tiny bit of kumas ego which can be switched around, while thinking about that i remembered kumas seraphim at the start of egghead ignoring orders from the Goverment and lucci calling the seraphim faulty... I think now that it will be possible that his seraphim maybe got that personality switch by Vegapunk which he orignally wanted to give Kumas orginal body.. That would mean, that maybe there still can be a happy ending for kuma, just not the way we r expecting it for now :)

What I thought when reading the Chapter is following:
What if the Gorosei are not at the top of the hierachy in kumas command chain? What if vegapunk put bonney over them? There is still the question how the SH are gonna escape Egghead with Saturn being there. My idea?
Kuma comes to Egghead. Saturn thinks he is on his side but Bonney appears and Kuma joins her. Kuma fights Saturn to protect Bonney and the SH and Vegapunk and both are defeated (probably with the mentioned bomb in kumas body?). I find it fitting that Kuma defeats Saturn bc of all the pain he inflicted in the past. Maybe not perfect but I could imagine it.
As a father, the way Bonney finds about Kuma past and her circumstance devastates me
Kuma is just a man of Honor, who is honoring the deal he made with Saturn.
Kuma cant meet her becouse if he does and someone see her calling him father.... he is a bucaneer... so they may execute her
I mean right now in the story I don't think it matters, if Kuma arrives or something else happens, I think Bonny will join the crew. After viewing her dad’s memory and his faith in Nika, surely she can’t just walk away.
After this flashback I'm seeing the case for Bonney as a straw hat more and more. Luffy having someone with celestial dragon blood on his crew crazy
There are 2 potential reasons that Bonnie can be a SH her goal could be (1) realizing her father's dream and proving nika exist by confirming luffy does all the nika things (2) traveling the world to fulfil her (kuma's) wish

But now? I really love this concept.

So JB, I’m sitting here watching the video and I’m reading the comments and it dawned on me that Luffy’s dream doesn’t really have a lot of substance behind it. Why does Luffy crave freedom so much? And as I’m thinking about that another thought hit me, Luffy doesn’t really have a tragic backstory. Yeah sabo “kinda died” but that’s about it. Idk I’m the only person with these thoughts but would be great video topic.
How can Kuma survive in some manner... see my list below.
1. Some instinct or memories left inside him. Just like with the Seraphm.
2. The giant robot that we saw awaken. Vagapunk transferred Kumas memories to it hoping to store them or see if the robot would wake up or something. It may just have been a meaningless test that pays off.
3. The Bear Seraphm gets involved. We seemingly know memories are somewhat transfered during the cloning process? How or why? We don't know. But I think there is more to this than meets the eye. I somehow wonder if the voice of all things plays a role?
4. Vegapunk purposely or accidentally never properly deleted the memories. Maybe he just switched them off. He still would have broke down crying as maybe he never knew that he would ever flip that switch. But I don't see this option as being likely. In fact I'm not sure sure any of these are likely.

This video has me thinking about how Germa in the past may have been related to Nika or the Ds. They lost their home apposed to how the straw hats had their home protected. When you started talking about homes and memories with Kuma. It reminded me about Judges passion and torment about the memories of losing their home land. I cant wait to and hope we get more on their history.
Its been so long since One Piece brought any emotion out of me, I thought I was numb to it by now. Apparently not.

I want oda to finish us with this kuma story. Kuma dies and the quote Kuma's dad said to him about his mom's death. "Isn't it wonderful, he's in a better place"
Kuma watching Bonney from afar to protect her is eerily similar to how kozuki oden handled wano and kaido. While infuriating at times, these characters have to have larger and more fundamental knowledge of the worlds problems and what must be in place for the real solutions.
Really hope Bonney is a future straw hat I really like her character. If she does become one though I just hope Oda doesn’t draw her in anymore weird revealing clothing since she’s technically 12 years old.

Well I agree with you buddy. It was frustrating to see Kuma not fighting a bit more, but Kuma is her Father and she is still just 10 or 12 years old, that fact is not lost on him. Her Mother’s fate is not lost on him. I’m sure he wasn’t expecting her to discover the truth of everything as early as she had.
My favorite joke this year was over a decade in the making. Her weird lipstick finally explained is just so funny.

I agree, luffy is supposed to be the guy that got a mid power but succeeded anyway because he chased his dreams harder than anyone else and did things only because he wanted to do them. not the hero that was destined to do the right thing because it was good
Luffy should focus on his own style of devil fruit power too. Would love another form for Gear Fourth, one that could have potentially beaten Kaido during that final clash that CP0 interrupted.
@@Katsuraage tbh I would love to see Gear Zero, no transformation, but just pure mastery of rubber abilities in his own way in base form. The Japanese love the idea of an ultimate form being “form zero” as a full circle moment back to the origin as the most powerful form as it gives a sense of finality and closure
He probably will give Koby the credit after he plays his part. Could be a Roger/Garp/Rocks type of thing if Garp actually didn’t 1V1 Rocks.
Koby making the rules for a new WG would be fine with him and Koby wants to do that sort of thing anyway.

I think Kuma's comments in this chapter made it clear that it's not that Luffy is necessarily Nika, but that he resembles Nika in more ways than many (by his own nature, without even trying). Just because Sengoku has the Bhudda fruit does not mean he is the Bhudda. Marco's phoenix fruit may not actually revive him once he dies (unlike a real phoenix).
It depends on if there is a real Nika, not just the Nika fruit. Personally I assume the stories of Nika are relics of void century, when Joy Boy had Nika fruit. And that to awaken you gotta be exactly the right person.
But I also do think the god once existed, and obviously if that's the case than nobody but it is the real Nika, not even someone with the fruit

I think Oda using certain characters context for a Zoro is a descendant of an Oni reveal. Luffy calling him Onigashima, Sanji also called him a Oni during the Davyback fight

You said it best 0:50 and really put in perspective luffy is a true god. with own stories from back in the day and we can say everything up to know was the sun gods reincarnated story who also was a prophecy 800 years in the making with the wano arc. I feel linter these next chapters will be epic maybe he does get help from jewelry Bonnie to defeat Saturn. Or even put up a good fight only to push his power level in perspective right after wano intro of green bull Shanks flex of haki to even black beard invasion of to Boa. And to think of Kuma and Vagabond he was expressing real pain so once he was studying and added the function do him to tell Bonney happy birthday himself she uses her powers to change his time back to the person we recently came to love that being Kuma oh man I’m excited I’m leaving this comment listening to this on the way home after the club on a Saturday at 5am. I’m absolutely stoked for Bonny to join the crew, it would be cool parallel to Roger’s crew, which had shanks and buggy. Also now she would be hunted even more and she doesn’t have a place to go. So she must join the crew or maybe go with vegapunk in some secret place. But I absolutely would like for her to be crewmate, I didn’t want that for carrot or yamato. And it would be poetic for luffy to protect Bonny in Kuma’s place like Kuma protected thousand sunny

People seem to forget that Vegapunk’s neck was also on the line with Kuma’s behavior. It was WG resources going to this project, and there’d likely be serious consequences for Vegapunk if Kuma were to go AWOL. My guess is that Kuma knew this.
10:15 poor take actually, no offense. But keeping Bonney safe doesn't mean stop her from what she's doing, that's not how you encourage becoming resilient and strong. You let your children get hurt and do dangerous things and even fail, whilst keeping an eye on them--exactly like what Kuma did.

mmm I am fine with Luffy=Joyboy, but Im still very con with the nika nika no mi. For me it take more away than it gives. Bartholomew Kuma became One Piece's John Coffey in those last scenes, and once again we continue to prove that Vegapunk is not a bad guy. Still Saturn needs to go, every opportunity he got he continued to try and take more away, this time now we learn Kuma has a nuke in his chest, wonder if that'll come back to bite Saturn. I think it's that nature which is why Kuma didn't confront Bonney at all, the Navy only had orders to capture her rather than kill, if putting a bomb in his chest was the reaction to Kuma scattering the Straw Hats imagine what would've happened if he tried to do a runner with Bonney?
I'm not quite over the idea of Luffy being a god I must admit, I still preferred when he was just a silly guy, but I'm not mad about the Nika stuff. They've framed it in a way that the fruit doesn't influence Luffy moreso that Luffy's wills have aligned with Nika's naturally.
I don't think Bonney should be on the crew I'm sorry, Grand Fleet is more likely. For one it's unfitting for Luffy to bring children on the ship he's barely and adult himself, for second Bonney has no role (Cabin Boy is not a role, Bonney is not a janitor) that the crew have highlighted a need for, and thirdly I don't think Kuma's gonna sail with the Straw Hats either. Bonney's main goal has been getting her father back, which one hopes can still be achieved through S Bear, and even then Bonney would likely want to find her old crewmates too, given how they also helped raise her.

Kuma is flying over toe egg head island, I have a feeling kuma memory and individuality isn't fully wiped. I am surprised JBT missed this part. Because if Kuma is fully wiped, Kuma wouldn't getting his head blown in half and still trying to get to egg head.
With all this new information, I'm seeing massive parallels between the relationships of Bonney and Kuma; Sabo and Dragon; and most importantly Shanks and Gol D. Roger. I think the theory that shanks is at least part Celestial Dragon HAS to be true at this point, unless he's even higher up on the board than THAT, perhaps descended from Imu or the Gorosei, or yet another group we've yet to be introduced to.
But the growing body of world history we have parallels and juxtaposes Sabo and Bonney in such extreme ways as to be unignorable, especially considering THIS IS NAMA ODA SENSEI WE ARE REFERRING TO. So if you look at the way those two do and don't align, it starts to kind of form its own shape of a third and fourth parallel. It suggests that Sabo has parallels with someone else as they relate to Luffy and what those parallels could be, most of them aligning perfectly with Shanks with the exceptions being undefined rather than in opposition to Shanks' story. It also suggests that Bonney has her own Luffy to orbit and Shanks to parallel. I'm very intrigued to find out who those two people are for her, because it will almost certainly spell out the entire ending once we know.
Maybe Saturn trying to detonate kuma is the switch Vegapunk wanted to have to turn Kuma's consciousness back on.

Kuma is religious and was looking for signs of Nika, that's why I think he tested the Strawhats.
So I think the memories of Kuma will disappear after Bonnie watches it. But if kuma shows up, Bonnie could awaken her ability and maybe restore kuma’s memories which is why the gorosei was so worried about her escaping since she can unlock the buccaneer kuma. But then they will be reunited and have that payoff before tragedy strikes and they blow him up in front of her after they had closure.

i cried the first time reading the chapter but just now hours before the official drop i read it again and its weird, i was able to keep it together all the way up to a certain page and panel line where i burst into a sob

I think it makes alot of sense for Bonney 's story to conclude in egghead, which means it wouldn't make sense for her to join the crew.
Jewellery bonney's will NOT be a Straw Hat. Her dream was to find her father, and maybe Nika. If she finds kuma at egghead (when he explodes while holding saturn, thus taking saturn out), then she will have achieved her dream, and as such, is not eligible to be a straw hat, since she will have no dream left.

13:49, this is precisely why, as much as I've grown to like her, I can't imagine Bonney joining the Straw Hats. She's certainly grown in popularity, but her motivation seems perfect for the Revolutionary Army instead of the Straw Hats. Her role, and her goal, doesn't mesh with the crew imo.
I'm also in the camp that says Kuma detonates/sacrifices himself saving Bonney and the Straw Hats, and his fruit is reincarnated on the Sunny. Especially given the theories surrounding the devil fruit and Straw Hat number theories Oda acknowledged but didn't answer in the SBS. It would be cool to have Bonney inherit it, but she can't since she already has a fruit. So, who'd get Kuma's fruit? It's hard for me to picture any of the non fruit users getting one now of all times, and a few of which have outright stated they don't want one.
If we had some fun and decide to put all our future nakama candidates together, as in, they all magically joined, who'd get it? We have Vivi, Bonney, Carrot, and Yamato. Bonney and Yamato can't get it, so who'd get it out of Vivi or Carrot? Or mixing all the non fruit users in, Zoro, Usopp, Nami, Sanji, Jinbe, Vivi, Franky, and Carrot, who gets it? I think Franky refused an offer outright. Sanji only wanted Absalom's fruit. Jinbe wouldn't take it being a Fishman. It's a bad fit for Usopp and Nami imo. Zoro doesn't need it. So we'd still be left with Vivi and Carrot.
The Sunny is a fun idea, but a ship with a devil fruit sounds like a bad idea given the whole water thing. So if I really had to take a guess, I'd go Vivi. Because even though Carrot is my personal preference, I expect Vivi to come back and rejoin as the final member.
I find it interesting that no one seems to be bringing up the recent Kuma flashbacks in One Piece, especially considering their timing with the current events in our world. These chapters were released amid real-world violence, notably the Israel-Palestine situation, which I perceive not just as a conflict but as an ongoing colonization and ethnic cleansing of people who have lived there for thousands of years. The parallels are striking and saddening, with powerful governments enabling this tragedy, much like in the manga. The way Kuma’s father died mirrors the horrific experiences of many Palestinian children and families, who are witnessing family members being shot in the head by IDF soldiers. These issues hit close to home for me, perhaps because I am a refugee from Iraq, and it feels incredibly heavy on my heart. It’s perplexing and disheartening to see many One Piece UA-camrs discussing themes of freedom and liberation against oppressors without making the obvious parallels to what’s happening in our world. The same tragedies we see in the manga are unfolding in real life, affecting real humans, and it’s devastating to witness the lack of broader discussion or recognition of these parallels, especially against the backdrop of the horrible videos coming out of Gaza.
Imagine the biggest plot twist if Luffy becomes evil at the end of the series. Bonney (after remembering Kuma's flashback): "You were the chosen one! It was said that you would destroy the Celestial Dragons, not join them. You were to bring balance to the D clan, not leave it in darkness!"
