Muffler shops charge about 120 an hour and they usually weld it and don’t use clamps. They also sell you the part for alot of money. My advice is to buy your own part and negotiate the labor with them!
The cat on my 2011 Prius just got stolen. The cost of the parts only is $2,400.00. They said it’s a three month wait. I am going to put a temporary cat from eBay. The cat from eBay is $130.00. Thanks for the video.
After-markets aren't legal in 3 states . . . in those states you have to pay thousands for the dealer part . . . he paid twice as much as he should have . . in California they fail you if it is loud ( exhaust leak ) after the clamp type of install . . it is not uncommon for thieves to steal from the same vehicle three times . . so you need an $80 shield or cheap motion sensor in your driveway etc . . and don't think about straight pipe because your vehicle might not go over 40 miles an hour because it is tuned to have back pressure . .
Mine got stolen and I bought one online from a good auto online shop for $80. Since they messed up and bent my pipe it needs to be unbent and welded 😭. A shop said they can do it but im hoping they charge 200-300 and not a dime more I guess I'll see what they say.
Get ur self some rebar and weld it around the converter . They will be cutting for days . Put multiple . It won’t stop the of course if ur not there but will def buy u time to hear them in the middle of the night

this looks like a pretty straight forward repair, why does everyone say this costs $1-2k?

Because some of us live in CA where the emissions laws are nuts and require you to buy a cat for $1300

What’s the purpose of muffler and catalytic ? They are connected ? Did u install that cat between two mufflers?

put exhaust clamps or pipe clamps either side of the converter and they might not bother cutting your pipe

Extra clamps or prongs but honesty anyone can jack your car up and just rip your stuff as long as no ones watching.
