nope, on top of the fact a single cargo ship produces more emissions in a year than every car in the U.S. put together does in several years. "cats help the environment" is a myth, the benefit is so tiny its like spitting on a forest fire and saying "im helping"

I try a spacer on the O2 sensor and it works instantly! So FK buying more cats, i just hollowed out these new ones and the spacer still works AND it passed inspection. Just curious if you have ever done a before and after dyna test to
see if you actually got more power with the CAT delete. I have done
this with a couple cars and there was a little power gain at red line on one and
the other actually lost power. In both cases, low and midrange power was slightly lower.
It is many times a thing of 'It has to be faster because I spent all this time and money
on the mod." A seat of the pants thing not based on actual tests like on
a dynamometer. Now, if the converter is plugged, of course things
will get better. But, if the converter is in good shape, the improvement
may not be there with a cat delete. A lot also depends on the engine management system
and how it reads the O2 and air flow sensors.

in general a cat delete can gain you 10-15 hp on stock engines, there are tons of b&a on youtube that show this. its louder more emissive. bigger cams/ high flow intake / boring the engine will all make the de cat much more worth it.

There was always a check engine light and my mech was advising that I need to change the O2 sensor which obviously didn't work on the long term. Second opinion discovered that my cat was missing ;D. So I did a modification on the cat space and added 4 layers of perforated sheets to mimic the cat.

I’ve been dealing with so many exhaust issues with my subaru lately. I find it so stupid they would create a vehicle to burn up so much oil because they can’t make the piston rings the right size, then maybe put it on a one owner under 100,000 mile warranty if u bother the shit out of the dealership to fix it, not necessarily garnered to fit it either. But if you keep adding in oil, it only later ruins the catalytic converters and eventually the engine itself

I had two on each side of my truck ,and with almost 200k miles on ,and one blown engine at 150k ,which is when I obtained the truck, which also had codes for insufficient cats ,but was not affecting performance at that point yet, just a little sluggish, but very smooth running though, however at 198k started running really bad ,and I could hear rattling coming from the cats ,also pinging from the engine ,and the exhaust smell was volatile if you happened to start the engine with the door open ,and let some of the fumes in ,I reckon all the material inside the cats was acting adversely at this point ,so I had no choice but to remove them ,or replace them to continue driving to work ,no I only have a lean code ,but over all ,a happier engine , if your area requires smog ,you shouldn't do this ,but I also believe that our Country could ,and should produce it's own cleaner burning fuel ,which is most definitely possible, and would make Gas burning cars ,and engines much safer for the environment! you wont get the back pressure back. So if your model of turbo [assuming you even got a turbo] requires any back pressure to operate properly. I recommend replacing said Cat. But if you dont have to worry about that. I recommend outright removing the cat and replacing it with exhaust pipe same size as rest of your exhaust, because you can get a vortex effect that effects your cars ability to push exhaust out the pipe due to a gutted cat. Only reason you would wanna risk a gutted cat on ya car, is if you live somewhere with cops who got nothing better to do. Such as the ones who go "your car is too loud" and put an inspection mirror under ya car to see if you got cats and a muffler.

    • @swiftysportsa

A fooler is a spacer. It simply lengthens the 02 sensor so that it is not directly in the stream anymore. A "tune" can also work but this is not a performance tune. This is a change of fuel to air ratio purely to clear the error. This is a less common approach as apposed to the fooler.

If you're modding a car and tuning it will that get rid of a lot the smell? Because excuse me and limited knowledge of cars I'm above average but still a lot idk so bear with me with this question if it sounds dumb, but does a catless car stink with a factory tune dude to the car probably running richer because the tune is set to a certain amount of fuel or whatever with the cat on then when you take the cat off its running more fuel than the car needs so therefore it stinks more if that makes sense?

    • @swiftysportsa
      @swiftysportsa  Рік тому +2

The car will smell regardless of the tune. Whether it's a factory tune or aftermarket tune, the exhaust is now releasing smells as the cat is no longer there to tame those chemicals. I don't believe the car is running richer however it is a good question as I did mention more air flow, more fuel, bigger bang... Something to research

@SwiftySportSA well looked up that a richer running run makes a bad smell too. I'm not saying Elimate the smell completely I'm saying will it minimize to to where it's not as noticeable cause I see people who do turbo builds never run a catalytic converter hardly ever so I wonder if the smell is really that bad due to the fact they don't do it. Maybe I'm missing something maybe the smells not as bad with the turbo on there? Idk. I haven't seen a aftermarket turbo build yet on a car so idk what the smell is like

Decat doesn’t improve power until your engine is well over 600hp on a single exhaust cat. Even less difference running dual exhaust. The reason is hot gases flow a lot better than cooler denser gases. The cats are red hot inside and increase exhaust flow. So as long as your cat isn't melted from raw fuel hitting it, than there is no reason not to run a cat. This has been dyno proven lots of times. In fact sometimes a car will lose a few hp without the cat, because the exhaust gases are cooling too soon.

From the dead! You are dead, when you would have been alive if you fixed it right/weren't cheap. Sounds about right. Or, the car drives poorly or the car starts to drive in a way that is harmful to expensive parts, and bam..this alleged savings ends up costing way more than it would have if you just did it right. Also sounds about right. Maybe it messes up the 02 sensor and causes your engine to run lean or something which messes up something else which causes a head gasket leak or you to blow a piston. I don't know. Head gaskets are caused by an overheating issue, but I don't know. I kind of don't have time to find out either! That being said, I'm going to straight pipe it.
