Mr. P. Explores... An Abandoned Subterranean House (Lorain County, Ohio)

- A brief video exploration of a "subterranean" house in Lorain County, Ohio. These houses were built during the Great Depression, in the hopes that when economic situations improved in the country after the crash in 1929, the owners could then complete the rest of the house about the initial foundation that they inhabited and had roofed over. Many of them had that exact situation happen and still stand today as fully functional multi-level houses. This particular house was once lived in, but was eventually left behind. Sadly, whomever once lived here departed in a hurry and left many of their possessions behind to the elements and vandals. This building, judging by the structural integrity of the place, at the time we filmed it, had very little time left. A year or so after the fact, the back wall collapsed in, and shortly after that, it was fully demolished to prevent anyone getting hurt inside of it. We were at least able to get a brief walkthrough and share it here with you. Enjoy the tour.

That's sick!
Sadly, it was just demo'd last week. It was an interesting spot!
Were the ceilings low compared to an above-ground house?
A little lower, yes.
didn't know it was gone - N Ridgeville, they've bulldozed a lot in the last few years
I remember that place!!!! My old boyfriend's buddy lived there in the 1970's!!!
I've talked to several people so far who either lived there or had family/friends that lived there. Shame they couldn't shore it up and repair it for future folks to live in.
Noeth ridgville. On nagle..buddys old place

Best history teacher btw
I remember that house from when I was a kid, an uncle lived near it. This was mid 1980s and I recall it was inhabited then, or seemed so from Chestnut Ridge. Thought it was a cool idea. Awesome to see inside it finally. Drove by it in 2022, was gone and developer signs near it. 32076 Chestnut Ridge, google maps street view in 2009 has a garage, empty in 2013 it seems sans garage.
